I have gotten calls from this same scam from three different numbers but two were recordings. The latest one I didn't answer but called it back and it said special promotions. But if it is for seniors there are none in the household so it wouldn't work anyway. I would hang up and have them mail me the info. There is no one who needs medic alert.

I just received a call from 458-201-2432; however, caller ID showed "Unknown"  they are apparently changing tactics and using "unknown" hoping some poor clod will answer because it doesn't say "Alert."

458-201-2432 ? Medical Alert scam ? Phone I.D. ?Eugene? at 4:36 pm on 4/26/2014
Connected call with recorded message bumping to live person by hitting ?1?. Live person?s name Emily or Emanoe (foreign, likely Oriental). Offered $3,000 in grocery coupons for buying free Medical Alert but $34.95 for monthly usage. Company name: Senior Alert System. Gave same for the website. Wanted personal information and credit card number. Told Emily that I was unable to find their website and to give me proper access. Reminded Emily that she had promised to give me their website but hadn?t. Emily hung up.

So, "ticked off"... what are you going to do?  Nothing, that's what.  You can report them on the DNC website, but the only time they use any of that info is if the callers commit a heinous crime.  Then they look up people's complaints to see what's there.

Oh, and by the way, when you hit a menu item given in the call, or call back to have them remove you.. all you are doing is giving them evidence (by calling them back or responding to them in any way) that you have a "previous business relationship", which gives them the lawful right to call you whenever they please.  So, if you have caller ID, just hang up.  Or if you answer, the second you know it's a scam or telemarketer, just hang up.  It's the best way to deal with these people.  And, if you have time on your hands, go ahead and register a complaint.

I knew the caller ID was generic for telemarketers, so I just hit the answer key and waited.  As soon as I made a sound, it started.... "Seniors!!..."  I hung up.

That probably won't do much good, since these people for the most part are located in the Caribbean.

What they know is that neither the federal or state government is going to do anything about it and the local governments have no jurisdiction.  Ask yourself why - there are several answers.
One is that tlemarketing giants make larger political contributions than you do.
The second is that for calls originating overseas they value their relations with some other country more than your privacy because you have no power, the politicans own you.  If they would tell some country in Central America, get this controlled or we are cutting your foreign ais and warning American tourists that you are a danger and cutting your telephone contact with the states, things would start happening.
Finally, and most of all, the politicinas have exempted themselves so they can call you for a vote or send you a robocall using the same telemarketers (under a different name) that scam you. We need an opt-in, not an opt-out ,system that has large fines, jail time and aggressive peoecution.  Do not hold your breath.

Robocall left a recorded message that begins in the middle so don't have all of it, but this is what I got:  "...now qualify under the new national senior assistance program to receive $3,000 in free grocery savings certificates that can be used at over 100 major grocery chains across the US.  In addition to your $3,000 in savings certificates you will receive a free emergency medical alert bracelet or necklace.  This medical alert device is designed to save your life if you ever experience a fall or any another emergency.  Press 1 now to speak to a representative and have your $3,000 savings certificate mailed directly to you and learn more about this risk free offer.  Again, press 1 now for more information or press 5 to be removed from this opt-in list."

Number shows up in CallerID as "ALERT".  Hung up while answering machine dealt with them, no message left.  Saw report on another site that says similar,  but the "ALERT" has something else on it to make it look like a government agency (like police or fire).
