Yeah they called me and said he would contact the FBI I told him to go f himself he hung up

I received a call on the 17th of September, with regards to an important message, apparently connected with a debt collection.  Only a message was left and a call back number and extention.  While this is the first call from this particular company, still, it is very upsetting when calls such as these ring your phone and eventually your mind.  I want nothing to do with them and I have learned never to answer a call from an unknown caller...ever....My best advice is the same as I just mentioned, if you don't recognize the caller, then simply leave the phone in the cradle.

Funny how people that show up to post on these message boards all claim to have excellent credit. smh

Does anyone know if Commercial Recovery and Portfolio Recovery are the same company
using different names?

Portfolio uses 50 different phone numbers and the calls come from many parts of the country.

If you don't plan on paying the old debts my suggestion is just don't answer the phone.  

If the caller (debt collector) hangs up when you answer I only take two of those type calls.

Then when I see the number come up I answer (not saying anything) and immediately hang up.

It's become a game with me.  OH did I mention I owe no-one and have excellent credit.

Yesterday Becky Chantler called both my number and my parents phone number. I called her back and boy did she give me the same line. I had a car that I voluntarily surrendered several years ago (its been a long time since I've heard from any debt collector) They claim that CitiFinancial Auto has tried to contact me which is a bunch of crap because they had both my work number and parents phone number which they could have called to contact me and they did not. Ms. Chantler connected me to two different companies to try to get a loan to pay off the settlement, both times I believe she was listening on the phone line. That was when I googled the phone number and Commercial Recovery, and seen all this information. I called her back irate and told her that I would deal with CitiFinancial directly, and she told me that she would contact them and tell them to go ahead and file court proceedings. So we shall wait and see what happens.

I should have known it was some kind of BS because she beat around the bush so much before she gave me the information about the settlement /payment amount.

Do not ever answer your phone...EVER!!! Get a call blocker phone app.These are credit collection companies that buy old debt. They can not collect from you if you never talk to them. The hook is they have to have the original signed contract to prosecute you. They do not have this all they can come up with at best is a copy which is no good. If you answer them in anyway it acknowledges you had a contract and then they can get a judgement. They can win if you don't show up at court if it goes that far. You can represent yourself or get an Attorney. It will be dismissed at the courthouse steps if you do this.

This lady called becky chandler has been calling me saying they will take me to court if i dont pay this old bill so i started paying it to keep out of trouble  but i been researching them and wow are they for feal are what ive made two payments i get no receits nothing have they took anyone to court

i want to know who and what company this is thats calling me from this number, saying they are "legal mediators".

This lady "Becky" called and told me she worked for the legal dept of the state of illinois and said she has 48 hours to resolve this before Capital One leins my property. When I began to cry because my husband just passed and I owe over 1 million dollars in medical alone she showed no empathy. I asked her if I could call her back and asked for her phone number.  The number she gave me 469-453-8478 is not located in my state (Illinois) I began to suspect she was lying.  I asked her directly "Do you work for the state of Illinois" she said I will note your file and hung up.

I believe it is illegal to identify yourself as a government official or employee if you are not I will contact the state now to notify them that this is being done.

I have recorded phone conversations with these people.  One woman identified herself as a legal mediator for the state I live in.  That's not true, she's not.  FTC says that is against the law.  They say that there is a civil case against me and they are calling about a judgment.  If I don't return the call by 6pm they'll assume that I waive all my rights.  I had a debt but it has long expired (over 7 years old) and they can't collect on it.  If it is over 7 years old, and you make a payment this 'reactivates' the debt for another 7 years!  This outfit, Commercial Recovery Services is in Dallas and Plano TX.  The Vice President's name is David J. Devany, his wife's name is Cherilynn W. Devany.  Their home address looks like 4600 Cape Charles Dr., Plano, TX 75024.  David and Cherilynn's number is 214-387-9422 according to what I found online.  Why not call them and complain?

If you can document that they are harassing you, (most computers have the capacity to record calls ON SPEAKERPHONE), save the file and take them to small claims court.  You can sue if you can document damages (most of us can't unless you have a medical 'reaction') BUT the court is able to find in your favor for up to $1,000.00

Total butt holes....called my daughter and was completely rude w her....she's a minor...saying they had a civil suit on her dad...block the number

I received a call from this number also. They left a message saying that if I did not call back in 48 hours they would take action to garnish my wages. They made it sound all legal by mentioning the state I live in and said they had a writ of garnishment, I don't work and if my husbands wages were garnished they would fire him so they would not be able to get anything anyway. I never give any information over the phone about anything to do with financial stuff. The caller ID said commercial recovery and I think they are in Dallas TX
