He left a message on my voice mail which said "Sorry I missed your call" making it sound as if he was returning a call that  I made to him. I never called him, no idea who he is and I don't return calls that start out trying to deceive me. Typical cold call, I'm sure he has a big deal that will make me lots of money, or he has experience in helping companies grow. One of another of 20 calls like this I get per week.

Basic rule: If someone tries to get to you via deception (telling your secretary that you know him; making it seem as if he's returning your call, etc.) then the deception is only going to get worse after you return the call.

He's still at it in May of 2014 - just got a call from Dorian Haney; caller ID showed as 214-306-4002, which comes up with "Generational Equity" when Googled.  Left a different number as a callback, this 469-828-2815.  I was on another call at the time so it went to voicemail.  He said he was trying to reach my boss - "Hi, my name is Dorian Haney, I'm trying to reach "John", sorry I missed you, please call me back on my direct line, 469-828-2815." and then he hung up.  Pleasant enough, but I don't think I'm going to call him back....

Received a call from Doran H, very non descriptive message, just said to call back his direct number. Not planning to call back.

Also had a call from this guy on my vm.  Sounds so official.  Glad I Googled the number.

Left message in scammer voicemail.  Sounded like the same name as noted in above posts, didn't say what he wanted, just call his direct line.

GOT A CALL FROM THIS GUY, SENT HIM TO VOICE MAIL.  CALLED BACK TWICE, SENT HIM TO VOICE MAIL.  THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP ON THIS CALL

Doran Haynie called and stated he had discussed some business with my boss a month ago and wishes to close it. He left the phone number 269-828-2815.

Our company also received a call from a man asking for the boss by first name.  When asked, he identified himself as Doran Hane (sp?) but did not identify his company. When I asked what the call was in regard to, he gave me a rather long-winded, convoluted speech about wanting to talk to the boss about the "external factors" that impacted companies, the economy, and so on and so forth. I put him on hold with the intention of keeping him there until he gave up but the boss (who rarely has to deal with unwanted solicitation and scam calls because he has me to filter them out) told me to just hang up on the guy. Instead, I informed the caller that the boss said he wasn't interested and Mr. Hane seemed gracious enough to actually accept that fact -- a rare and much-appreciated trait for a cold-caller to have.  ;-)

Doran Haynie called from this number asking for the owner of the company by name.  Said he was going to be doing business in our area and wanted to speak the owner about an opportunity that came across his desk.  He was polite, and I took a message for my boss.

I've seen his name tied to other numbers on this board.
