I did get a call (at work) from 470-204-3049, from someone claiming to be Brian(sp?) Austin from a lawyer's office. After much research, and the replies on this very helpful website, I'm pretty sure i am being scammed again. This happened to me last year. I was forced to change my personal phone number, but I obviously can't change my work number. I cannot take this stress and embarrassment at work again! Any advice would be much appreciated.

After reading your response you have made me feel so much better about this threatening phone call I received earlier. I want to thank you for putting these scammers in their place and speaking quite intelligently when doing so. Thank you for fighting the good fight! A wise one aka stop scammers

This number also called me said I had 2 warrants for my arrest for a payday loan I did years ago that I filed under my bankruptcy. This is an absolute scam and if you can't tell that it is by the demeanor and etiquette of the a***ole answering the phone than I am sorry. How these people sleep at night is a wonder to me? Their families must be real proud of them calling and threatening poor defenseless people with jail time. I hope karma bites you all in the a** and you go to jail. You are violating the law by harassing and threatening criminal repercussions when a failure to pay a loan is nothing more than a civil lawsuit. Burn in hell, you and your fake officers you pretend to dispatch over the phone. Low life scum!

A "warrant reversed?" JFC, you're attempting to scam people by extortion and scare tactics, and you don't even know what the hell you're talking about. Wow.  Jackhole.

Anyone looking this number up:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

  is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
  refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
  asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
  exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

  Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

  If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
  Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
  Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
  Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
  Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Good try....but a failure. The regulars here will now be watching out for this number. Your "pre-emptive Shill" attempt will go down in flames as soon as your targets find this site.
We will simply inform your intended targets that it doesn't matter what kind of BS you spout, proof of your claims WILL be demanded via the mail. NOT e-mail or fax. That all of your threats & excuses are as empty as the space between your ears. That your lame "Bad Check" spiel is pure nonsense & has  been dealt with here "Ad Nauseum."
Now get a clue, you insignificant smoke-blowing fraud! If your scam finds its way here, you're done. We will take great pleasure in dis-emboweling your scam. You are, in no way, educated enough to compete with us here. Don't bother to try. Like so many before you, you'll succeed in doing nothing other than make an a** of yourself. You've made yourself into a fraud. That's all you'll ever be. Live with it, there's no going back.
Skeff Ett Liv!
