Got a call from Amanda, she told me that trying to get hold of me was like trying to get her kids up for school.Well lady you know were you can go.

Sign up for the free service nomorobo.com. I did yesterday and today it caught this scammer immediately and hung up on them after one ring. The free service is the one that won the $25K FCC challenge to provide a simple way to block telemarketing calls.

These people call often and by now it's getting rather annoying.  Just this past week, they called six times in a row.  One call after the other.  What if anything can be done.  

Got a call from this number today. The woman on the other end asked for me by name and I identified myself as he. She then hung up. I *69'd the call and got this number. Did a reverse lookup and google search. Found that this number is being used to some unknown purpose - most likely not good. DO NOT call it back! This may be one of those outrageous billing calls. Block it and ignore it.

Claims to be calling for Breast Cancer but they have been told multiple times to stop calling. Legitimate companies and charities honor do not call requests so this is almost certainly a scam.

The problem with your assessment is that with VOIP's any number can be used. A scammer can use any number he chooses, regardless of who it is registered to.

Recd call 10:48 am EST to my AT&T land line.  CALLER ID reads:   BREAST CANCER S

I did not pick up.  They left no message.  

Looks like all the scam, bot and boiler room calls are all coming out of the woodwork this week.
If it's not the "financial stimulus" call, then it's "carpet cleaning" call. If it's not those, then it's the lovely "security" systems call.  Oh, and let's not forget about the "time share" group.  I swear, I'll just add this "breast cancer" one to the list.
It gets longer and longer each month.  I agree with the PISSED commenter above.  NO ONE is doing anything to stop these calls!!!  It's an abuse of our telephone system and probably perpetuates organized crime and terrorist activity.

This is a more sophisticated bot call, Ask for you by first name then starts recording, If you ask any question the Bot comes in and says ahun and stuff, So I had some fun, Asked if they were a Bot, Are they a drug addict, A scammer, Total waste of air, and things only to get agreements from the bot.  Claims to be with a Breast Cancer Center.  So looks to be a precall for active answering numbers or predictive dialers.
These scumbags have no limits to try to get info on you to sell, Unfortunately they are harming legitimate charities or businesses with their efforts to commit fraud, When will the government do something about this organized crime?  They are totally impotent to do their job and still get paid for doing nothing.  
They can track and take actions but don't, just more lame excuses for inaction or dumping it on us with no real tools to fight back.
I'm trying to find work and now they are getting my info off job boards to commit crimes.

Caller ID said DooDoo Collection Agency.  Weird.

I  always hang the phone up when I see caller ID.

Received a call about 10 minutes ago. Amanda with A C Services (which is a commercial fundraiser organization) calling
on behalf of breast cancer. Asked for me by my first name and began her spiel. I stopped her in her tracks and told her
first of all she does not know me so don't address me by my first name as that distinction is reserved for family and friends of
which she is neither. I looked up A C Services and found that of the money they collect only 40% actually goes to the
charity which doesn't set well with me. I told her if I want to contribute to breast cancer, I will contribute directly to them
and not to A C Services.

this number called,then 2 minutes later phone rang,,it was PORTFOLIO RECOVERY A DEBT COLLECTOR,,I BELIVE IT WAS THEM SPOOFINF THERE NUMBER

ONCE again another call from Breast Cancer Services----470-238-2031.  They quit for awhile but have started up again.  THEY WILL NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE.

I have Caller ID,  Do Not Call List,  An unlisted phone number, a message machine.  NOW DO YOU THINK THIS STOPS THEM?????     NO, NO, NO.

Maybe a sharp whistle in their ear will.

These folks have called my house numerous times.  I have a call blocker so that their call will not ring through to my phone and all they hear is ringing on their end.  They will NEVER again reach a live person calling my number.  HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Got a call today from "Breast Cancer S". Woman claimed to be Amanda and wanted to talk to me about breast cancer. This same woman has called before and got pretty nasty when I told her I wasn't interested. This time after about 4-5 seconds of her spiel I just hung up. I never give to charities that solicit over the phone. I have been burned too many times.

Since this new ATL number space is largely being used by telephone providers such as Peerless, Level 3, Qwest, and Bandwidth.com they may not all be scammers, but many of the callers are likely to be someone we aren't interested in talking to.

AT&T hasn't sold your number, but someone you gave your number to has probably submitted it to a database somewhere.   Also, not every scammer "has" your number.  Many are dialing blindly without knowing who they are calling.

I can give you a very long list of things to hate about AT&T (Verizon, Sprint, Windstream, etc.,.), but I don't think selling unlisted numbers is going to be one of them.

"I reported this call on another site and got the following message:

That's the problem with a lot of these sites - they are poorly implemented and infrequently updated.
The number is actually provisioned by Level 3 Communications, and it is a valid number.

As to who these callers are, I can't say.  Level 3 is a very large CLEC (telephone service provider).  They are popular with collection agencies, so it could be one of them illegally hiding behind phony caller ID info.  But we do also see some scammers signing up with Level 3, so that is certainly an option too.

If you have actually spoken with these clowns, and have some facts to share, you can report the calls to the abuse department at Level 3.  Keep it brief, factual, and polite.  Level 3 is the phone company, not the caller.  You want to get them on your side, not make them mad.  And brevity is key, because the abuse staff is hearing from a lot of people every day.

Best case, they will kill the service, but it only takes a few minutes for a scammer to set up VOIP service somewhere else, so sadly, the impact is minimal.

This is a NEW area code in Atlanta. Something else to be concerned with, new numbers for scammers!

BREASTCANCERS called. I looket my my Caller I.D. and didn't pick up. They left no message.

These people do not give up.  They keep calling my home phone and I have an unlisted phone number.  ATT has sold it and now I have all the SCAMMERS calling all the time.  

THEY won't leave a message.  I AM ALSO ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST.   That doesn't help either.

In April 2013 a mammogram taken at Fayette Piedmont Hospital and the day before scheduled to recieve results my caller ID rings out Breast Cancer s.

June 2013 I had an appointment for blood work with a Piedmont provider I get a call the next day from Breast Cancer s.

Is this allowed under the new health care act?   The Piedmont compliance representative back in April did not accept any connection,  it was just coincidental.  :)
