I've never been to Michigan and searched the Internet and this call is a total scam called the number back and it just rang and rang. Watch out people this is a SCAM!!!

The domain name is registered at Go Daddy by a company called Domains by Proxy. That company advertises that they allow for domain name owners to keep their id private.

I received a letter in the mail, similar to everyone else on this list...but with a twist.  A different company name on the letterhead.

I'm shredding it.

Left a message stating I was selected to recieve airline vouchers as part of attending a presentation. I got a letter regarding this same thing last month from a different company (Hicks or Hickman something or other???...I shredded it already...) I almost fell for their scam...but I checked out their website and it was bogus. Their company bio was such such a joke...they didn't even fill in legit info...their head of the company went to college in Anytown University. Come on!! They must think people don't read those. That tipped me off...so we didn't go to their SCAM "presentation." Upon further investigation I have linked theircompamy to "Global Vacation Newtork". "Google" them and you'll find loads of dirt on this shady company. They just keep changing names, and fake websites. Well, guys, I'm onto you..so quit calling! I'm not falling for it! And please, stay away from this company.

I guess you will believe what you want to believe. I've got to believe what Dave Harris said. Five major cities listed on their letterhead but no website? Okay it goes to a parked search page, but that's not a website. Did you notice the generic logo on the search page didn't even match the one on their letterhead? I've also got to believe what Phoenix said. A bad economy brings out the scammers and the mooch crowd are the easiest targets. There really is no free lunch folks.

"Yes, I called them and told them that I couldn't make it because the bank was about to foreclose on my property and my mother was in the hospital needing a knee replacement and we just can't afford it, plus I didn't have a car anyway. Well, I was floored when they sent me a check to bring my mortgage payments current, they paid for my mom's knee replacement AND they sent a limo to pick me up. Not only that but I have my tickets and I'm flying to the Cayman Islands in June. Nice people!"

Yep, there's an extra "s" in douglas"s" on the website address. Yep, the website is understated to say the least. Yep, I had flags flying like crazy, enough, added with the posts here, to peak my curiousity.
So, I called.( I need to fly to Texas next month on biz and can afford to bring my lady with if I have free tickets)
Upon calling, I was greeted on the phone by a pleasant voiced woman who set an appointment to tour a, as described to me, up and coming travel firm new to the valley, interested in rewarding a potential clientel, fitting certain criteria parameters, in exchange for taking a tour (usually meaning: attend a presentation) and hopefully spreading a little "word of mouth" advertising.
Anyone in business knows this to be a common practice of generating interest.
Now, before everyone starts thinking that I am an employee or something of the like, let me assure you that I am , most certainly, not!
However, what I am is; a 23 year certified Private investigator (no, I'm not, nor do I have any intention of being, officially "on the case" here) that is taking the facts in an unbiased approach to , "clearly illuminate the terrain in which we currently find ourselves deployed".....and maybe get some free tickets to boot.
That's why I am using my nick-name above because, when I show up for my appointment, I don't wish for anyone to have benefit of linking this post with the attendee,..me. Wouldn't serve.
And with that, I'll say that I will bring my findings to you here and leave you with just a little added info : 2nd tel. no: 480-459-3246
                                       Address: 9449 N. 90th St.
                                                suite 100

Just got it myself. Almost had me going. I work for the USPS and you can identify ALMOST any piece of junk mail by the postage. If it's Standard postage, it's trash. This had an actual .43 stamp on it. Almost thought it was legit, till I found this site. This is crap-tastic....you fall for it and you deserve what you get.

I received the same letter in the mail. Real stamp, hand addressed envelope (which is suspicious for a company), and no return address. I noticed the spelling of "Douglas" is different than their website domain they noted in the letter. They spell their website with two "S's" which I thought was a red flag.

I received the same letter with no return address, but decided to call because I was curious after reading all these posts.  The man I spoke to was polite and urged me to ask questions.  He then transfered me to someone who set the appointment.  I received a confirmation email today from a company called VNI (located in Scottsdale).  I will let you know what happens!

We got a letter that said they had tried to contact us repeeatedly about "winning" airline tickets. Funny, we never got any messages, emails, or letters before. The URL on the letter is bogus and searching turns up no results on the company. I join the Greek chorus yelling "Scam!"

The first comments above that say this is legit are probably posted by the scammers, there are multiple phone numbers that have those exact same comments posted.
I got the letter, no return address, no info on the company and the web address is invalid - total scam!!!  I won't even waste my time calling the number and listening to what will probably be a recorded message of bull.

Girlfriend received several calls. Then we received letter in plain envelope, no return address. Persondouglas.com domain is inactive as noted by others. Google search on Pearson Douglas results in no meaningful hits. Letterhead purports offices in New York, Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta and Salt Lake City.  This is obviously a scam.

"Pearson Douglas" free airline tickets...
This is a scam!  I recieved a letter with NO ADDRESS OR ZIP CODE.  Here's why: on the Better Business Bureau's site, you can "request an investigation"...but the automated system will not allow the request to go through unless there is a 5-digit zip code.  I just put my own in and explained the absence of such in the box below.  I URGE ALL OF YOU TO DO THIS-there are non-net-savvy folks out there who are the most vunlerable to a ploy like this...get the word out!  By the way, there is NO BUSINESS LISTED WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU UNDER PEARSON DOUGLAS-beware and DO something about it.  Thanks!

This is a scam, anyone saying otherwise is employed by this "firm".  The ink addressing the envelope is exactly the same as the person signing the letter, the so-called "Vice President of Travel Awards Division".  If it sounds to good to be true......especially in this economy.  How stupid can people be?  People are losing their jobs left and right, but these nice folks want to give me plane tickets for free.  Yea!! Sounds legit....

...is the surest way to identify a scam.

Nevermind that the Internet address belongs to a cybersquatter, or that I can't find any sort of reliable information about a "Pearson Douglas" or a "Joanne Marshall."

Oh yeah, I received a letter almost identical to this one on a different letterhead from Georgia last week. Same "real stamp on a hand-addressed, but no return address, envelope"; same "free roundtrip airline tickets"; same unverifiable company information.

LAME.

(Anyone on this page who says otherwise is a troll!)

Any outfit that purports to have offices in five American cities can afford a real Internet presence. That is, unless they don't want to be found out.

If they can't shell out the cash for a website, how can they afford the $1,400 tickets they want to give me for my time?

BOGUS!

Received letter in the mail post marked 28 March 2009 from Phoenix 850-- zip code, suggested a downtown Phoenix Arizona location. However the phone number shown to return a call to was a voice mail at (480) 459-3244 which is generally an east valley Phoenix suburbs area code, unless the number is associated with a cell phone which means the owner of the cell phone originally set up the cell phone service in Phoenix east valley.

With a leterhead stating Pearson Douglas and no mailing address, simply showing New York, Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, the company organization would have a legitimate website. However www.pearsondouglaslcom is a website that is available and up for sale.

Not a legitimate company or offer. Best to avoid.

This Better Business Bureau (BBB) does not know who this company is and says it is not a legit company.  Just call the BBB to confirm this information.  We have reported our letter to higher authorities.

I booked an appt and when I asked about the website this is what I was told "WE have recently encountered technical difficulties with our website, the situation looks as though our website has been highjacked. Technical support is currently attempting to correct the problem." I asked for phone numbers of other locations and never received them. I received a call from them today to "confirm" my appt and the caller id stated they were a "marketing" number. They told me for my appt I would need to bring two forms of id to pick up the tickets. One id should be a cc - I told them I actually had a drivers license and an id card and was told that it would need to be a CC because of some tax bs.
My conclusion - yes, it's a scam - a scam to steal your cc AND your identity.

I googled their address and it did come up as a legit location - but have not gone further than that.

They purport to be in business for 9 years. When I asked them why their websites been down for over a week (Devastating to any business) they said they just recently found out about it. I can't imagine any successful business can have a website down for over a week and not know about it.

I also rec'd the letter. I believe it's either a scam to defraud me or an attempt by a collection agency or process server to reach me. The domaine name had an extra s in it. It worked, but very low budget for a nationwide company with 5 offices. The domaine name on the letterhead was www.pearsondouglass.com. Note the extra S on the end. However the email address was info@pearsondouglas.com. Note that it only has one S. There was no return address or letterhead address, the envelope didn't match the letterhead, letterhead lacked common features such as company leaders or indicators of what kind of business structure as required by law (such as LLC, PC, CORP. etc.), my address lacked proper punctuation, and United States was abbreviated U.S.. rather than spelled out and it had 2 periods after the S. I can't imagine why they felt it necessary to include the word "voice" next to the only phone number on the letterhead.  It fails to tell me how I "qualified" for the airline tickets. I haven't entered any contest.
