It is US bank for sure. If you haven't been using your US bank account actively , like i was, US bank still decided to start charging monthly fees. I thought the call was a scam originally since my account was inactive.

I had $0 in my account and found out they somehow decided to charge me 7 dollars a month putting my account in the negative balance.

If you ever opened a us bank account, I would recommend you follow through with this as i found out it was hurting my credit score. Whether or not this is good business, it definitely is not. i closed all my accounts and will never return.

I just received voice mail message from 503-401-7455 asking me to call back before 8:00PM eastern Standard time.  the number they gave me was 1-800-872-2625.  I called this number  and the automated operator was asking for my account number with US Bank.  I did not know my account number so it transferred me to a person who again ask for my US Bank account number. I advised him that I didn't know so he ask for my cell phone number, then my address,  I advised I would not give to them and that they needed to reach me in another means if they need to discuss anything.  The person hung up

I got a message from them today that I needed to call them back at another number.  I don't have any accounts, credit cards, or loans with US Bank, so when I called the number and a robot asked for my account number, I just said "Agent" to get a person.  The person checked my phone number against their records and concurred that I did not appear in their system anywhere, and could not explain why I was called.

So I called back the 503-401-7455 number and spoke with someone there who asked for my name and city of residence.  She confirmed they didn't have anyone with my name in my state, but several customers with the same name in other states.  Conclusion: One of their other customers with the same name has skipped and they are trying to track them down, so they start calling every number they can find associated with that name - hoping to find their skip... but when they leave a message for you to call the collections department, they forget to tell them that they will be getting callbacks from some people who  should never have been called.

I got a message from this number, and asked me to call back to a 512 number to verify some employment information. That did not match the others posting here that get this call from USBank, (especially those stating they do not have accounts with USBank).

It is my opinion somebody is cloning this number so the callerID looks legit.  That is not USBank's fault. (Although one of the previous messages noted their fraud folks are looking into this)

Be extra cautious receiving calls from any unknown number.  I only call back to a known number.  In this case I would use the big 1-800 on USBanks' web site or on your statement, or on the back of any cards  (not what they leave as a call back number).  If there is an actual problem with your accounts, the main number can help you.  If you have no problem with your account, you probably got a call from somebody impersonating USBank.  Many people said they have no account with them.  then good.  You know it was a scammer calling you, not a bank.

Someone calls from US Bank from this number.  My business is out of business and I defaulted on a line of credit.  They can keep calling, but I don't have any money.

Just got off the phone with US Bank's Fraud Department.  They are putting this number into investigation.  It must not be a number associated with US Bank, since they have no information regarding it.  Furthermore, they told me 1) never ever give out info to anyone. 2) the branch should be able to find any problems with my account, so if there is suspicion of fraudulent activity and the fraud department is in fact trying to get in touch with me, the banker will be able to see that and refer me to the fraud department.

some posts have suggested that this number might be for collection or the fraud department itself.  However, I told the person I spoke with about the comments on this (and other) websites that made this suggestion.  She was extremely doubtful that this is the case.  I would recommend speaking with someone in person about this.  She also suggested I don't answer these calls anymore, and also that I don't return them.

I'm getting very frustrated, I'm getting calls from this number (again) for about 2 weeks now.  I went into the bank and spoke to the branch manager and nothing was wrong with any of my accounts.  I talked to the person who called tonight and refused to give my social, since the branch manager said if they asked me to verify any info about the account I shouldn't divulge any.  I told them I was convinced it was a scam and the man on the other end said "Then I recommend you go back to the branch and talk to them," which I will do.
If they call again I'm going to tell them to stop using my minutes as nothing is the matter.  I no longer have a credit card account with them and my account is fine.  The bank manager said some calls are for customer satisfaction surveys, and since I had some recent activity in that way I answered one call and took a survey about some recent bank business, but this seems to be about something other than the survey.  I don't have a mortgage.  I have been a victim of ID theft, and wonder if it is about fraudulent activity, but WHY can't the branch tell me this in person so I can stop worrying????

Keep getting a call asking for Maria. The strange thing is, the call comes from an Oregon area code and they have to call an Illinois area code to get me. However, I live in Oregon.

Received a call asking for Maria. If this was US Bank there would be no reason for the call. I asked the local bank some time ago to take me off the calling list.

I recieved a call today from 'us bank' the person left their name and identified that he was with the fraud liason department and a number to reach them at.  I went on to my account to make sure there was no suspicious activity and I noticed there was another debit card issued to my account but not activated.  I decided to call US Bank directly.  Explained the message and the banker was able to tell me that the message was a legitimate call from them.  The notes that shows on my account says that the fraud department did in fact try to get a hold of me.  Apparently my current debit card information was compromised, they could not or would not identify by whom but as a precaution they ordered me a new card and my current debit card will be turned off at the end of june or when ever I call to turn it off; which ever comes first.  In the mean time the banker did ask me to review my account carefully to be sure there were no unusual transactions and to keep track of it often if I did not want to turn off my current debit card tonight.

I wonder if USBANK monitors sites like this.  Seems they would, so they could stop the bad "press" they receive,  BUT why would they, they don't really care.

I received a call today also.  Person said they were from US Bank and was very rude.  She said I was late by $250.00 on one of my accounts.  I asked her to call me back later as I was driving.  She said she could handle my late payment over the phone.  I again told her that I was driving and to call back later.  She then proceded to tell me I had funds in another account that she could transfer. I told he no, I would look into it when I got back to my office, she said I heard you say Yes, so I'll transfer the money, then she hung up.  I stopped by a US BANK office and they checked my accounts and I was up to date and they don't see any record of any one calling me.  It's one of those things where the right hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

I got a call and typed in the number. After reading all the responses I decided to answer since I am not delinquent nor do I have a US Bank account. I answered the second call and they asked for someone I do not know. I reported I did not know that person. I've had the same phone number for over 5 years and when I first got it I got calls for a man by that name. What I learned was I need to update my info with my bank and cards more often so someone else doesn't go through this. Thanks for all the remarks; they really helped. Especially Michael's advice to just talk to them.

They've called twice, once on 04/10/08 at 02:39PM and again today 04/16/08 at 10:07AM. Both times left a message identifying themselves as being from US Bank and that I should call (800) 872-2625. So today I called this 800# (it really is US Bank) and they checked all of my accounts and there is no problem with any of them. They cannot explain why anyone from US Bank would be contacting me. I asked them if I gave them the telephone number that appeared on my caller id, would they be able to tell me if it was a valid US Bank phone#? And when I did, the representative said that gave him more info. He put me on hold for a long time and came back and said it was a valid US Bank# but it's for an automated system. He said he wasn't able find out the department it was for. I explained that it was actual people who left messages and not an automated "person" and he just said all he could find out is that it's a phone number for one of their automated systems.

I receive numerous calls from this number daily and I have never had an account or credit card with US Bank. They think my name is James and refuse to remove my phone number from their data base. By the way, I'm female and have a VERY female voice. They accuse me of trying to hide James from them.

Yes, this number is from US Bank.  Aside from the aforementioned reasons, that office also calls if there IS a delinquency on your account: overdrawn, etc.  I know this cuz my wife tanked our account a few times, and they called from there to find out what was being done to resolve the issue.

Also, it is best to accept the call and talk to them, so that they won't think you're dodging them.

They keep calling me asking to speak with my mom, who I used to share this cell phone with. So far they've left three messages, and my mom had no idea who they are or why they'd be calling her (neither of us have a bank account/credit card/mortgage with them). A few of the messages were with a very impatient/angry sounding man who said that it was "very unfortunate that you are not contacting us considering the importance of this matter."

I don't HAVE an account with them! They have called repeatedly, and also seem not to believe that there is no one here by that name.

I also tried calling back the number, which connected me to US Bank. The agent told me she didn't have that phone number on their chart of accounts, but she gave me the number for Collections: 1-800-872-2625.

If you don't punch in an account number, they disconnect you.

And someone would do business with US Banks... because why??? I never will. Scum.
