The name on my caller ID says Pactel, but I have no idea who they are.

This is a robocall from some bill collector who says if you want to add the number to the do not call list hit option ?>>What then happens is they HAVE your cell phone number on record as working. Here are other numbers in conjunction with the listed #:855-343-7888 and 315-701-3346. IF THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY PERSISTS, CONTACT THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. This type of activity can get these companies up to a $16,000 fine.

Robocall. Said it was a 30-second political Survey and if I answered the questions they'd give me a trip free - subject to something like "handling charges". I hung up.
An obvious scam.

If you call it back, a recording will explain the survey and give you a chance to opt out from future calls.

I receive a call from this number 2 a day. Morning and Afternoon. No messages left, no answer when I pick up. How do I get it to stop!?!?!?

This number called both my home phone and my cell number. No message was left either time. I set my fax number on auto dial and keep calling them back just to be annoying but no one ever picks up

Decided to answer and the "survey" had four questions with a promise for a "free cruise" to follow if I completed the survey. I decided to follow it through and after completing it I was directed to a "travel agent" (who didn't even know the address of his company other than it was in Florida and his company gave free cruises, and it had a website address)
I told him I was going to report the number etc...this didn't impress him, and I'm not under the illusion that it would do any good either.
It was a fun way of killing some time. But it's ten minutes I'll never get back.

I just got a call, caller id Pactel number is 503 457 1231, also another time last week, caller id said PAcifictel 253 382 9076 I am sure it is the same people, Their number is 800 446 1524 for customer service or 800 221 8200. found this on another sight.

Telemarketer pretending to do a survey so they can claim to be exempt from he Do-Not-Call list.

Everyone, simple tell these scamers that by calling your number on the DNC list they have demonstrated their total lack of personal and business ethics and you will never do business with them.

They call my cell but left no message

They called my cell this morning - I didn't answer.

They want to help you further your education.  Tell them : "NO", "Don't call", "Graduated last June" Nothing works, they don't stop.

I  recieved a call from this number to my cell phone, which I never call anyone on, so it is interesting on how they got the number.  It was for a survey, not telling you who is conduction the survey, but you can "supposedly " choose option 1 and be permanently removed from their call list. (Yeah right)

I got another call from this pesty number this morning and as usual no msg was left.  Mine is 312 area code in Chicago and their 503 code is somewhere in Oregon... where I definitely have no business nor personal relationships.  Months ago, I answered one of these calls... but found out nadda.  After my "hello"... there was silence although there was a connection. I think it's an automated call, which machine needs adjustment so that it kicks in to start preRecorded msg immediately when I answer their call.  This is only my guess but what else could be going on...? In any event... it's an annoying imposition to get these calls into my home phone!

I received a SPAM call this morning. Like many others who received this call - I"m sure it is from the same scam outfit using software to fake the origin numbers (like phishing emails). I did not answer the call.

From what I've learned - and messages they have left behind in the past - they have several scams.

One is that they pretend to be a political survey (as political calls are not blocked by the do not call list) - but they quickly try to convince you that you won some gift - and they will ask for your credit card number to pay for taxes and fees. Or some variation of the above scam, like offering to reduce your credit card interest rate. They always come back to the credit card - be aware!

I've added this number to my blocked list - so I will never be bothered again. If you cannot block calls - just add the number to your phone book, with "No Name" and set the ringer to silent. You will not be bothered as often.

I think the FTC is pretty useless if they can't track and trap these abusers of our phone system. Remember - they are NOT a legitimate business - they are criminals/scammers trying to get your credit card number so they can defraud you. Don't even answer the phone, don't call back, just block them...
