They've been calling me everyday for the past week, I know it is Spot Security. My cell phone is on the Do Not Call list, I reported them to the Do Not Call registry today.

Called me three times in a row, no one there, hence I presume the autodial machine hit me and none of the poor slave telemarketers were available to complete the harassment session (another day perhaps)  I called back, and as mentioned above it was Spot Security voice mail, and they were calling at 6:50 PM Pacific Time.

Yep, time for the Attorney general calls, and why not a few thousand offended parties calling the overpaid execs-you know ONCE per day since THAT is not harassment according to the law when they are calling us.

It's been almost 15 years, but I was once an IT manager for a regional Campus and Telemarketing company...When we were first considering putting in an autodial system, I made a point to educate myself on the law, and I had a list of features and criteria prepared to use in making the selection of the machines to be purchased.  One of my first questions was always, "What are the provisions for importing the Do Not Call List so we don't harass people who have legally expressed their RIGHT not to be harassed by us...Out of nine market leader vendors NOT ONE of them had any feature to upload the list.  We were told to build the list one at a time as people informed us during a call.  NOW, this is not terribly surprising given the debacle that has become the software industry, HOWEVER, several of them were quick to say, "Gee, you know, you are the first person to ever ask us that question."  How Damning is that?

Under the heading of WORSE TO COME:
I just has a bill collector call me on a new number (obviously recycled too quickly)  This call has been coming from an 877 number 3 or 4 times per day and I simply push it to the voicemail where my message informs them to never call this number again.  HOWEVER, yesterday I get a call from a friends number and I picked it up...as I watched the screen the friends number flips over to the 877 number...somehow they can not only scramble the Called ID BUT they managed to force a random person from my legit address book to come up as the inbound number...Sigh...Just Can't wait till the telemarketers buy that nifty machine or service.

Sounds like the same story - They called & told us we won a home security system in a sweepstakes. We didn't enter a sweepstakes & I told them we are not interested. I think I'll call the president of the company as per the previous message.

I can't believe how mad some people get over a phone call?  Really, why do you have a phone if you dont want it to ring.. Spot Security installed an alarm in my home 4 years ago.. Very Very reputible company, the information on them is so easy to find.  Unless of course you get weirdo's complaining and making things up.. I have even gone to the location in Portland, OR, maybe people should do real research other than assuming a scam..They are a very large business doing security on people's homes, anyone that lives here in Portland knows that we have terrible crime, I highly doubt an alarm is a bad thing if it protects my family!! Geez, get a life people and ask questions..

Funny!! OMG... I worked for Spot as a marketer a few months ago.. and everyone has it all wrong!! They dont even have auto dialing machines.. we only called people for programs in their area or to give information on crime.  Then some people got to call from entry forms  if someone got a system for free or they were referred to us.  We had to update the DNC list constantly but they dont call anyone ever that isnt checked.  I had a baby or would have stayed there, and will hopefully go back. It was such good experience and a lot more thankful people than mean ones, so worth the time to listen, its not a bunch of sleazy people trying to make money.

I was a marketer for Spot Security and they do drawings and also call people with special programs.  Everything they do is so careful on who they call and that it is legit.  We would have to stop sometimes even when we gave things away for free to not call someone on the Do not call list.. I never had someone mad when I called them so I think people that get mad on these are nuts when all they try to do is prevent bad things from happening.  I had a baby and can't work right now but am hoping to go back.  Maybe people should ask questions instead of googling a number and guessing.  They do have a huge office in Portland and are the biggest security company in Portland.  But if you get a call and you don't know why it could be a good thing or you could just ask to be put on do not call and they do it, I know that much and it's always a real person, no machines dialing random strangers, that's the best part, it's all real.

This number is from Spot Security. Corporate offices in Portland, OR.. I am in Roy, Wa. I got a call from Spot about a program in my neighborhood, come to find out they meet with hundreds of people all over.  I was very impressed with how professional the call I got was, very very nice as opposed to some random telemarketer that barely speaks english.  Wonderful service that they are providing and I do think they call a lot of people so I can see why so many people are on this site. I also checked the BBB and they have an A+ rating, that doesn't happen if they are a scam.

A man called me and said I won a drawing for home improvement contest. He did not identify himself or his company but my caller ID did SPOT 503-972-8790.   I said I never enter any contests. The man (name unknown) said it was about a year ago I entered the contest. I asked what contest?  He couldn't say.  I said I never enter any contests at fairs, stores, etc. He said maybe on the internet. I told him I never open spam mail. I delete all spam mail. There is no way. He said maybe a friend entered the contest for me. I told him none of my friends would do a thing like this to me!

Finally I said I don't own a home.  Then he said I won a car.  He repeated to me my name, home address and phone number.  I told him this concerns me that a stranger I know nothing about has this information.  My phone number is unlisted and I'm on the National Do Not Call List.

I too recieved a call from "SPOT" security.  I had won $1100 security system.  The problem is I haven't entered any drawing for over 20 years.  Why because I hate the phone calls.  Though this time it happened to be somthing I needed.  I let their sales guy come out and sell me on their alarm system.  They told me how their system is better than the others how its hard wired and has two way monitoring.  This is were their is speaker and a microphone in the system so who ever is monitoring can hear whats going on in the home.  Their is way to set the alarm off silent so if you have an intruding you can call the police with out them know it.  The system sounded good and I knew they were asking way to much for the monitoring service. $39.95 per month and a $70 one time connection fee.  I was limited time until a creep was getting out of jail and would coming to disrupt my home.  So I bought the system and ending up paying around $180 at the time of installation.  The installer was done in an hour but ended up talking another hour because the first system was broken and he had to switch it out.

I later looked up the system and found I could have bought a comparable system for about $350 and installed it my self since the system I recieved was not hard wired but wireless.  I could have paid $9.95 per month with no long term agreement.  Instead I am stuck paying $39.95 per month for 36 months.  36x 39.95 = $1438.20 +$180 install =$1618.20 instead of a measley $350 for the system and $360 for 3 years of monitoring.  So spots costs $1618.20 for a system with less points monitered or $710 for a system that has more points in my home monitored and same 3 years of monitoring service.  Another words I ripped for About $900.  I wouldn't go as far as to say they are a scam but I would say they are unethical and they are taking advantage people by using their fears.

We are on the DNC and are so tired of them calling. We have not been anywhere to sign up for anything considering we just moved here and received the # Last month (immediatley DNC'd the #), We are old enough to know better, and use a cell # with a different area code for anything we must fill out (agreements and the like). I don't care what they are selling, or how good the customer service is... this is a bad business practice! For all of you WA State residents - They have a street address nin Bellevue, but their mailing address is Oregon.

perhaps their "justification" for calling my comcast homephone in City of Kirkland is they somehow bought some old drawing-list.  Even though my number is and has been on the national DoNotCall for some time, they paid good $$ for my potentially personal info, Right?.  They paid for it, they're entitled to it, Right?  What part of DoNotCall are you not getting?  Let's see our contract authorizing you to contact me.  We'll see which of their offices responds first to Sergeant K. at KPD

SPOT security out of Portland Oregon, 503-972-8790. I am to conclude this is a solicting phone call that is automated-meaning they blank call you from a computer data base and when you pick up, the computer then calls them and connects you together. I waited 38 seconds and could all of a sudden here the phone ring on their side and they answered SPOT SECURITY. I made them wait a minute!
