I work for aes as a telemarketer, and we are not told anything about where our numbers come from. We don't even manually call anyone and do not see a list of any kind. We simply wait for the system to connect us to a call already in progress (Here's a tip, by the way. Don't say anything if you pick up. The system waits until it hears a human voice before connecting an operator. If you've got an answering machine, we won't intentionally leave any messages on it) While at work, I've heard one of my fellow employees say that all the numbers are either from past customers or names referred to us by the gas and oil companies. No idea how true that is though, and I've never heard it from a manager.
Something that seemed kinda fishy to me is that we don't actually have any licensing or registration numbers to give to anyone. We can't even give out a phone number, simply refer them to our website. When asked, my manager told me to tell the customer in question that our technicians are the ones with that information, which makes me think that they are all subcontractors (Or not actually licensed at all).
But really, the people on the phones are not the people in charge. We're in the dark as to what actually goes on at the jobs the technicians go on.

And he cant even heat the room where the telemarketers work !!!!!! Thats sad for a wood & pellet stove shoppe !!!

The owners name is Bryan and he uses 3yr old call lists and then just recycles the numbers regardless of the DO NOT CALL LIST numbers.The techs he send to your house are sub-contractors and therefore are not Lic.Insured,Bonded or Certified.They are pot smoking alcoholics with crackheads thrown in just to say they dont discriminate.They should be investigated by MA,RI,CT,NH,NY.I know I used to work there.The main telephone is 508-507-6711 and 401-762-3721. I have used AES Chimney and they were 100% professional. They called me to clean my gas burner chimney. I didn't even know it needed to be cleaned? When they opened the pipe for the burner it was totally blocked with chips from the clay walls of the chimney. I called my neighbor is a licensed plumber so I had him come over immediately and he confirmed what the AES representative had told me which was due to my new high efficiency burner that I had installed two years ago my chimney was crumbling on the inside and needed to be lined. My neighbor then told me that AES was charging me a fair price for the work so I proceeded to have the repair done on the spot. The guys did a great job. They were clean fast and a pleasure to deal with. That being said I was so happy with the work they did this summer I just this week purchased a beautiful pellet stove from them which was installed today with the same level of professionalism. I never comment on these forms but I felt this company was being spoke of unfairly and had to speak up. I am glad I took that call with a open mind because I don't usually do business over the phone and in this case I may have spent a little money but my home is safe now and my heating bill is going to be a whole lot cheaper!

Well that is definitely a different company than American energy savers  (AES)..... We at AES are only licensed for the chimney aspect not the furnace we can only touch the chimney and we don't call to set appointments for furnace cleanings. Just like the furnace guy can only deal with the furnace and we can only do the chimney it is two o different licensing..... And we don't have any cleaning for that price currently our prices are as followed $79.95 for furnace flu (as or oil only for 79.95) each additional flu is an additional $60........ Got a call from this company telling me to pay $230 for my burner services. I have never used them... I called them back and they wouldn't even tell me the company's name. Very fishy. THIS NUMBER AND BUSINESS IS A SCAM!

You may be on the do not call list but if u go on mass.gov under the exeptions to the do not call list are businesses setting up future appointments and not exepting money over the phone so even if ur on the do not call list companys can still call you our company is accreted by the bbb its on angies list and it the direct phone number is listed if u search for it were in the local yellow bools and have our own website were a fully licensed insured and bonded ..very legal company

if you are not a scam than why do you hide your return number behind a calling list.  Why do you hang up when people ask questions.  why are you not listed anywhere so people can call to get your direct number.

ralph just for your knowledge level 3 comm, llc, ma mean they are a level 3 commercial legal licensed company from ma.  I am receiving phone call also.  last one saying they where "American Legal Chimney" they even knew the town I lived in. When I may aware that I knew they were calling on an illegal number the dumb*** said to his friends ( and I heard him say this) she knows I am calling on an illegal number.  Than he hung up.  Just shows why criminals get caught, They are idiots with no brains!

i work for american energy savers and it is not a scam that is how we do our calls and we use a google calling system the calls are a list of numbers we recieve from the oil or gas componies i know it sounds fishy but i promise it is not

The company you are referring to in regards to the scam is not American Energy Savers. It was Energy Star Maintenance. They are the ones who were set up by the "homeowner" who was CSIA certified and knew that his chimney was fine. Whats funny is that the news talks about the guilds and what-have-you. That company was a part of that guild lol! You need only to pay your dues and you get membership. I am a CSIA tech. I know these things. There is not one successful business in this entire world that isn't about money, otherwise they perish. By selling repairs, we keep money coming in. Telemarketing is a very good way of generating work and new clients, rather than waiting for ppl to call in. People take advantage of it, and it sucks. THere are so many chimneys that do need work, there is no need to have to scam ppl. I am going into business for myself soon and hopefully I succeed. If you want to weed out scammers, no real chimney company will take the ladder off their truck for 50-60 bucks. 80-90 dollars, maybe. Usually a sweep goes for about a 100.00. They should ask you questions about the home, and you should be able to ask them questions likewise. Common sense is your best friend.

Same here in Wrentham 4 calls this week.  Just had WBZ on and they are reporting American Energy Savers as a scam.  Home had a clean chimney and they told owner that it needed major work.  Owner is a chimney cleaner and would know if it needed work.  Guys took off and left behind their very large ladder.

Received a couple calls from these guys - claim to be American Energy Savers. Each time they claim to be calling to schedule an appointment for chimney sweep/clean - the way they speak its as though it is a pre-arranged call i.e. they make it sound like it has all been agreed and they are just calling to fix the time.
When I say I have never heard of them - the line just goes dead.

I don't like this one bit - and I could easily see an elderly person getting sucked in by their tactics.

saw on caller id# 4 days in a row same time 9:45 a.m. the phone # (no msg).  tonight I answered phone and they hung up and when I clld # it said google cust not available.  Aggravating!

ok, we've received 3 calls from this number with no message.  I'm wondering if this is a scam artist targeting the elderly b/c the phone is in my father's name, and we get tons of calls from hearing aid companies and such.  AND our number is on the "do not call' registry :-/

Got a few calls from this number with no message.  Finally was home when it called again and she said her name was Ruth from American Energy Savers out of Plymouth even though the caller i.d says Swansea, MA. She said she has already spoken to the Carver Police and they didn't have a problem with them.   Still seems a little fishy to me.
