I got a computer call asking me to press one if I want to lower my credit card interest rates and they did not identify who they were. I pressed "1" I got someone on the line. I said what company are you with? he said something like Credit Settlement co. He said we lower interest rates with Chase, Wells, Bof A etc. He also said since I have never missed a payment I qualify. I asked him "How do you know I never missed a payment?" Then he hung up before I could tell him to never call again. It is a scam. I dont have any of the big bank credit cards he mentioned anyway.  THEY ARE TRYING TO STEAL YOUR INFO.

If your receiving phone is registered on the Do Not Call List, please file a complaint against this number at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx.  Especially if you have told the caller to remove you from their calling list and they continue to call.

Note:  The Do-Not-Call registry does not cover the following:

   -calls from organizations with which you have established a business relationship;
   -calls for which you have given prior written permission;
   -calls which are not commercial or do not include unsolicited advertisements;
   -calls by or on behalf of tax-exempt non-profit organizations.
You may want to follow up with a call to your credit card company to see if they have employed the services of this caller.

Anyone making a telephone solicitation call to your home must provide his/her name, the name of the entity on whose behalf the call is being made, and a telephone number or address at which you may contact that entity.  I would obtain this information before directing them to remove you from their calling list.

You may also file a complaint against a telemarketer who is calling for a commercial purpose (e.g., not charitable organizations) IF:

   -The telemarketer calls before 8 AM or after 9 PM; OR
   -The telemarketer leaves a message, but fails to leave a phone number that you can call to sign up for their company specific do-not-call list; OR
   -You receive a telemarketing call from a company that you have previously requested not call you; OR
   -The telemarketing firm fails to identify itself; OR
   -You receive a pre-recorded commercial message from someone with whom you do not have an established business relationship and to whom you have not given permission to call you.

Be sure to get the identification of the individual or company whose products or services were being advertised or sold, and any phone numbers included in the call;

I filed a complaint since the call came in on my cell.  I was not available to answer and the caller did not leave a voice mail.  So I'm not sure whether it meets the criteria above.  However, my cell phone is not on record with my credit card companies AND I do not make calls to them using my cell.  So I am very untrusting of this caller and I believe action needs to be taken by the feds - if nothing more than investigate the credibility of this caller..

I got a call from this number on my cell this morning at 1026AM. The only ID was that it was from Oaklnad, CA.  Since I have family near there, I thought this was an emergency call.  When I called back, the message indicated that it was a marketing call, and that I could opt out by pressing 1.  Hope I haven't caused myself more trouble!

Friend of mine gets 3-4 calls/week from credit card scams. Worst part is the spoofed phone numbers which makes tracing difficult if not impossible. But when you get someone on the phone they usually DO give you a company name. I was listening in on the conversation when this happened. Friend got the name of Card Services National supposedly out of FL. I was on Sunbiz.org looking it up and, sure enough, it's an active LLC. So he tracked down one of the managing members at, I can only assume, his home in Pooler, GA and called him. Man was not too happy about the call. Boo Hoo.

Friend suggested that between the Do Not Call violations and other harassment issues that the state AG might be interested in taking a look at the situation. Managing partner suddenly started claiming that Card Services National was never designed to offer lowered interest rates and that the company was somehow "hacked" - an entire company? Friend suggested that they might invest in better security b/c if the partners were that easy to find it would be easy enough for a sheriff to serve them with litigation. Most humorous part is that he has zero credit cards.

When I get calls like that, if I'm in the mood, I play along. People on the other end don't usually catch on until I get to the $2500/month for horse meat for the pet tiger, monthly detailing for the MacLaren and various other adult toys...

Comedian Tom Mabe actually has one of the best ways I've seen to deal with telemarketers in general to date. Granted, everyone needs a job so they can eat... However... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBfsdkGeMc8&feature=related

I asked them about what credit card they can lower interest, the middle eastern sounding  man kept talking about representing all banks blah blah without any specific information pertaining to my own cards or which card he is talking about.. i suspected he just wanted to get my cads number and /or ss# along with birthday,  maiden names etc to   commit frauds. Let all report this scam to fcc and warn everyone we know or don't know using Face book and tweets.. thanks everyone..

Got many phone messages from the same number. Tried to talk to them but the moment you ask for their name or how to get in touch with them they   hang up.

Filed complaint with then the FCC via on line forms at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints.
This is the only way to deal with it.

Got the call today on my cell (yep, I have to pay the cost of their solicitation, even though I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST).  RoboCalls should be banned.  Thanks for the info, flwolffan. These phishing calls should be prosecuted for fraud if they say they're representing Chase.  Also, the phone company should shut them down as they KNOW who it is by who pays the phone bill.

It is an automated message saying it is an offer to lower the interest rate on your credit card.  The thing is it never indicates what card or bank.  I suspect it is a scam.

I just got a call from these morons. After a delay, I got a request to 'press 1 if you want to lower the interest rate on your credit card', which rang all kinds of alarms. I pressed '1' and got to a Hispanic-sounding female who said she represented Chase... until I pressed, when she said that she represented 'many banks and other financial institutions'. She said that she could get my credit card interest rates reduced, but that first I'd have to give her some information. I said, sure... which card? Well, she couldn't give me the card number, for security reasons. I pointed out that _they_ had called _me_, and if they really did represent Chase they'd know the card number already. Perhaps she could just give me the last four digits? I managed to keep her on the phone, long distance to Kalifornia, for more than five minutes before she gave up and announced that I had declined the offer and that my interest rate would be going up, not down, and hung up.
