The company that does this is "Protection Source" in Tempe AZ.
They sell alarm systems. When you respond to the card they pretend they are a welcome wagon service and by taking their survey you will receive free dinner coupons. You never receive any coupons and they sell your person info and answers to the survey to other companies that prey on new homeowners. If you are stupid enough to set up an appointment to see one of their alarm reps, you pay double or triple for your system. Matt is the owner and I believe one of the biggest crooks on the planet. The girls who set the appointments for the alarms will tell you anything to get an appointment. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!

like everyone said, but I happened to be at the door when the guy knocked but he quickly walked away and I asked what is this about, he told me to call the phone. He is a young ~18-20 years old Hispanic driving a black sporty nissan.  I didn't have a chance to read the license plate because he took off in a flash.

Got our first card today.  I've re-posted their card telling them to 'Smile!  You and your car are now captured on video.'  Do not contact.

I got the card today too.  It was the first time getting the card but second notice was checked.    I was also home all day and there was no knock either.  Seems like I'm hearing about a lot of these things happening lately.

These a***oles collect your phone number and sell it to other companies.  I've tracked it all back to the call I made to them, I'm receiving 10s of calls per day from people trying to sell me services for my new home

We had the same thing happen a few days ago in far southwest Austin.  (It was a card, not a phone call.)

I wish there was a way to make them stop!  They have come by about four times now.  Today I saw someone walking away from the door and found the card on my door, but no one ever knocked.  I saw a car driving away.  I wish I could get them to stop coming by my house.

I called the number on the card, the woman explained that it was a welcome package with coupons to local stores and restaurants, then I was hung up on. This is obviously a scam. Highly suggest not calling the number.

I've been getting them since I moved into a new house. Same as everyone else, no one rings the bell or knocks, just puts this card in the door. I've been ignoring them, but yesterday one came addressed to a last name I haven't used in about 9 years. And I certainly didn't buy this house under that name. So, they are looking through historical info. At a coworkers suggestion I'm going to make copies of these cards and tape them to the door saying "stay away...do NOT come back to place these on my door again or I will call the cops! Stay off of my property!"

Do not answer your door.  I was trying to get to the bottom of this and this site helped.  Thanks.

Heard a low tapping on my door one day.  I answer and no one is there but there is this little scam card.  Luckily, no one answered when I called so I hung up and started googling.

I'm waiting for them to call me back so I can block whatever number it is.

Found a card on my door. Called thinking it was a delivery service. I am normally more paranoid about stuff like this but I was stupid and gave them my email address. They tried to get me to sign up for a GE security service right then, I told them hell no, that is when I figured out something was not right. I don't know what they are up to But I don't think it is good.

Keep getting delivery notices, even if I've been home all day. It's a scam!

Just got one in Cedar Park TX (Austin suburb), we were home all day and no one rang the bell, obviously a scam, and the card has no real delivery company info.

We have been getting multiple " Sorry We Missed You!" delivery remainders ( Delivered by Compass) on our door in the last couple of weeks. It states that its their second attempt ,although  there have been multiple second attempts for these deliveries. There are couple of phone numbers - for Austin ( 512-661-1613) & for San Antonio ( 210-892-1614) & a confirmation number listed for call back.  This is a scam.
I checked online & found that it has happened in Phoenix, AZ & other places also. Mostly it is to collect credit card numbers & other personal info.
