I worked for MU trying to raise money too - but I NEVER did what was just done to me. Trying to make extra money is one thing - being rude and annoying(calling 15 times after sent to voicemail) is another.  Miami taught us better when I were there - we were taught BUSINESS ETIQUETTE... has the level of what MU teaches been reduced to such an extent that this is now found acceptable?

I was on a business call and sent them to voicemail... no biggie, but they called back FIFTEEN TIMES instead of leaving a message! Finally I asked the other party to hold on and picked up saying I have sent you to voicemail fifteen times, either leave a message or never call again... I loved going to Miami but what they just did is completely inexcusable and I will be calling MU tomorrow to tell them - we were taught better by Miami when I went there!

I understand the annoyance, but did you ever stop to realize that it was also Father's Day for her as well and rather than being at home with her family she was stuck making phone calls so she could earn some money (and on a side note college tuition is only getting more expensive). And you were quick to mention the caller's reaction, but you do not mention your wife's reaction, it would have been why the student reacted in that fashion. Way to pick on some student who was only asked to do her job.

Young woman just called from this number, and my wife answered.  She asked for my son, who has not lived here in ten years and graduated from Miami six years ago. My wife said he did not live here and the girl let out an exasperated sigh and said OK, as if my wife were annoying her rather than the other way around.  Did I mention it was Father's Day when she called?

I actually used to work there ("TeleHawks") as a student. They're just good kids trying to pay their way through school... or at least earn a little extra beer money. I definitely got to talk to some really interesting people while making those calls! If you are never going to be interested in making a contribution, though, just answer the phone and politely tell them to put you on their Do Not Call list.

HAHA.....they have called me like 4 days straight. 513 shows up and I know who it is.
I might report to the govt.....I don't use any of my 3 degrees to do my job. Can I get a refund?
