Much like LKS, I am in BC, Canada.  We've been getting calls from this number periodically for quite a while now...just received one at 10 fking 30pm!  Needless to say I called back only to have no one to vent my rage to...only a "this number is no longer in service" message.  Next time they call...I'm answering and it will NOT go nicely for them.

I got a call from this number at 10 p.m. today Pacific time...in Canada...on my landline...saying they were Windows support. I played dumb and pretended I didn't have a computer until he got so frustrated he hung up on me.
I've been getting a lot of these calls from a lot of different numbers lately. I just keep them on the line and screw with them so that they are not messing with other people for the few minutes I'm pissing them off.

This company called me.  I could not understand the caller and had to ask him to repeat several times.   I just hung up on him.

Had a call this morning claiming to be microsoft windows. Said calling because they had received error reports from my computer, and certainly I have had problems in past few weeks and have clicked a few times on "report error to windows", or similar wording. The lady with an Indian accent asked me to do a few things on screen to see the errors but nothing happened so she transferred me to her "senior" who was very pleasant and also had an Indian accent. I asked him where he was calling from and he tried to avoid answering, but under pressure said America. He in turn found he could not help me so transferred me to his "senior" who sounded very official, also Indian. I stupidly let him into Team Viewer" with doubts but having in mind that a friend working in IT had once helped me through TeamViewer and had assured me that he could not access or see the contents of any files, only the programmessoon said. I am now worried about this. After pointing out loads of "stopped" programmes he said I needed a new set up cd for my computer at around £99 and immediately upped his sales pitch. By now suspicious I said I needed to think about it. He promissed to ring again!

1/29/2013  had a call today similar to others reported here. I suspected a scam from the start, but i strung him along until it was clear he was attempting to get access to my computer. I haven't had any problems but ran Microsoft's security scan to be sure. I don't know how he "John Lee" had the identifying number for my computer and linked it to me and my phone, but apparently the store sales records may be available out there. If someone calls you claiming to be from Microsoft, don't believe it.

it's a computer generated voice using different accents. They ask for information about your computer purportedly to clear out the virus etc. Then they hit you with asking for a cc number. A scam!!

These bozos called me claiming to be "..working with Verizon to ferret out computer systems with virus code running.." and would I please turn on my computer, I did..the guy then asked me if I would open the Remote Admin Port...I told him no...he claimed "If you don't we can't fix the virus.." Then he asked me for a credit card number! I told him the joke is on him because I DON'T RUN WINDOWS! He hung up. I reported this to Verizon's Internet Fraud investigations unit. I'm also planning to report it to the NY Atty General's Office, and I suggest anyone else who receives such a call do the same.

Called and told us they were from Windows Support - told them not interested.

They have called our house several times on several different days.  Tried calling them back, and told number is not in service.  We are from Victoria, BC

These people just called me saying they were from Windows support and that it was a curtsey call because I had a virus and was hammering their servers.  I knew it was fishy then because if Microsoft called every person that had windows and a virus they would never keep up with it.  When I asked to speak to a manager that didn't have a strong an accent that I could understand he put me on hold then came back and said they were all busy.  He then tried to con me saying that he was going to tell me how to get to the virus on my pc and that I could delete it myself.  I then told him to explain to me where it was on my pc and he didn't know what to say.  I told him I worked in IT department and knew my way around.  After a couple of mins of that he told me it would be easier for him just to do it as it was very complicated.  I ended up hanging up on him.

Same as the other post. Wanted me to turn on my computer because of a virus.  REALLY !!! I hope no one falls for this scam.

clearly a boiler room, and maybe offshore connecting to US phone because of the accents. DON"T TALK TO THEM.  Just tell them to quit lying, and hang up

Called me, knew my name - and didn't hang up or respond (but they stayed connected). Something is fishy - I have a lot of out of town customers. I really didn't think much about answering - but the more I thought about it area code 516 was a little weird....

Got a call at 7:45 a.m. from this number. I missed the call and no message was left. When I called it back, the message was the phone is no longer in service. Who are these creeps?

I have received calls from this number to my cell phone. However, when I pick up, there is just silence. Annoying.

I've received the call today. The caller is calling from a landline, located near NYC. They ask for
Mr. C. Y. R.  I've just said that it wasn't me. Then, he ask me ''When can I find him?''. I just said that he had a wrong number. I recognized my name but with a extremely wrong prounciation.

Méfiez-vous de les appels uniquement en anglais, si vous habitez le Québec et qu'une personne épelle seulement les lettres de votre nom. Raccrochez si vous n'avez pas de base solide, dans cette langue et s'il ne veut pas vous parler en français. Sion, vous pouvez lui demander de quoi il s'agit. Mais, si vous avez un achiffeur et que ça donne se numéro, vous êtes prévenu de ne pas leurs faire confiance.
Une autre personne, sur ce site a indiquée que c'étais des arnaqueurs qui utilisent ce numéro de téléphone. Ils veulent collecter des infos venant de nos ordinateur, d'après ce que la personne a écrite.

These are garbage bill collectors, the lowest of the low, they need to collect to stay in business but only pay 7 to 15 cents on the dollar for your debt. Debt collectors in America, some more examples of people in America taking advantage of hard times. SCUM!!!

received call from this #.when you call this # back it says the number is not a working #.They are trying to get money.they state they will send the police to your job never your home they dont call home# only work # and cell #.local police have been notified.they are notified of every # they call from.eventually you will screw up and get caught

this number called and advised me my computer was hammering the internet because of a virus on my computer.  if this was true my internet provider would have gave me a nasty gram about it.  516-285-9894.  this is a scam..  they ask for you to turn on your computer so they can have access to remove the virus, right..
