Got the call from this number, asked for a 10 digit ID for some allert, have no clue who this is or why they are calling. What happened to the DO NOT CALL list. What a joke that list is.

Not only is my number on the Do Not Call Registry, it is a TWC Business Class Service (all activity monitored) through Cisco Systems. These guys CONTINUE to call, and when I try to call back and enter number to "verify" it and remove it, they claim they never called it. Bull! They call several times A DAY and leave messages. It's a scam spoofer of Alert NY. No idea who REAL company is...Caller ID spoof number: 518-292-6634...
MP 2013-05-09 13:34:43 Unknown
It's called a scam to bypass Do Not Call Registry.
Alan 2013-05-08 22:10:45 Unknown
The call is from a complete SCAM that tries to get your information by claiming to sell a home security system. They call constantly no matter how many times you tell them to remove your number. They hang up on you immediately if you dare to ask the name of the company or what company actually sells the home security system, so i doubt they really sell anything. The number is set up so that you can not reach anyone when you return the call.

Robo call received 8 May 2013 ("Free Alarm...")
Caller ID: "Alert NY"
What a shame, scamming telemarketers are spoofing a valid phone number ( belonging to NYAlert.gov ) to sneak their phone spam through to innocent telephone customers.
Transcript of spam call:
"<female voice>The FBI reports there was a home break in every 15 seconds. Your local police recommend you protect your home....if you will allow us to place a small sign in your yard, we will install a new security system at absolutely no cost to you whatsoever. Robo call recorded 29 April 2013 ("Free" Alarm system and small sign)
Caller ID: "Alert NY"
These people aren't even consistent with their instructions, one place it's "press 2 for Do Not Call" elsewhere it's "press 9 for do not call"...no matter what you press, a live person comes on and asks if you're interested in getting their "free" alarm.

NY Alert is the emergency site for the State of New York. (http://www.nyalert.gov). They have issued a press release dated 4/23/2013 regarding these telemarketer calls spoofing their caller id and telephone number.
JimF 2013-04-23 18:11:36 Unknown
Why would they be calling me? I live in the SE and have nothing to do with NY. It's a scam. Someone is spoofing the NY Alert system.
Skeptical Jim 2013-04-22 23:33:40 Telemarketer
It seems that lately, 518-292-6634 is being spoofed by a telemarketing scam. The call left a message, which is rare indeed, about the offer of a free home security system if we let them place a sign in our yard. The message did not identify a company or what the sign would say. A New York alert surely wouldn't be calling a number in Maryland that has no ties to New York or the NY university system.

Caller left a message today asking to install a free security system if I allow them to place their sign in my yard.

This NY Alert showed on our caller I.D. (landline). First we do not live in NY (we live in a state far south) and second, our only child is 38, does not, nor ever have attended ANY university. Why are they calling us???
wd 2013-04-22 16:06:37 Telemarketer
On 4/19/2013, I had a voicemail message from NY Alert and telephone # 5182926634 offering me free Home Security System. I did some research and called NY Alert -a state emergency agency that works with Homeland Security. The person I spoke to assured me they did not call me. These telemarketers are using fake caller ids and telephone numbers. I am reporting this matter to my congressman.
I live in Kentucky.

Just got a call from 518 292 6634. It came up alert ny. Called back but said my number was not in their system. Hope I don't get charged $200 like someone else did.

Left me message offering me free home security system, if they could place a small sign in my yard. If this telephone number is for a NY emergency alert system why are they calling me in Kentucky? This is a scam.
Kelly 2013-04-19 15:42:29 Telemarketer
Caller ID says "NY Alert" However, I got a recorded message advertising a drug and alcohol rehab center. They ask if you or a loved one have a drug or alcohol problem and that their program has a great success rate....
TJ 2013-04-18 02:11:38 Unknown

Libby 2013-03-19 17:36:13 Unknown
