Got a phone call from this today. Almost went through with it, but our credit card turned it down. I am very thankful because I got really scared. Our credit card will not autorize anything outside the US. I don't know if it is a scam or not or if it is a time share thing, but it seemed to good to be true. I hope since our card was declined, there is no way they can hack into it now if it is a scam.

I have the same promo and recieved it from Cancun Calling, I figured it was a scam at first and spoke to the agents. I just went for the Cancun part of the vacation that they offered. I checked the billing statement from Tropical Travel and realized that it was just a merchant account name. I initially checked all background information and like you i checked tropicaltravel.com and .net but they had no like to that company either. Just to find out that they are a whole different company. But then when I spoke back to the customer service department of the company cancuncalling they explained to me that thats just their merchant account name and tropica travel the travel agency has a whole different merchant account name. Went ahead and clarified it with my family that it was completely safe and are planning on traveling before the end of the year after the kids come out from school.

Your were smart enough to opt out.  I called my visa company and traced the company, Tropical Travel, which had withdrawn my money.  I called Tropicaltravel.net and the lady said that they are not related to cancuncalling.com nor is Tropicaltravel.com.  They had written to the Attorney General about this scam but obviously the guys were off the hook.  The lady said that they have stopped in the US but started in Canada.  THE GUYS ARE VERY ORGANIZAED AND PROFESSIONAL AND THEY EVEN CALLED ME BACK TO CONFIRM MY ADDRESS TO SEND THE INFO PACKAGE.  PLEASE STOP THIS AND DO NOT BE THE NEXT VICTIM.

Thank you for your letter regarding a caller representing themselves as Bell Canada.

This was not a call from Bell.

Many cellular customers from various companies are being called and told that very same thing.

When you press “1” to collect the travel dollars “you won”, it connects you to a person who then attempts to extract personal information from you.

It is just another form of social engineering that the criminal world has come up with.

The best advice I can give is to do exactly what you did…hang up.

We take this very seriously and our Corporate Security group is currently investigating the situation.

Bell Canada Loss Prevention

I received a call from this number and answered.  It was a recorded message saying I won something.  I even have my number on the don't call list.

i got the same # 519-516-9898 saying this is bell canada you are a valued customer you won 3000 in travel dollar press 1 then they hang up i did to i call ministry of consumers they tell me if at any time i press 1 then who ever is calling have a full access your home or cell phone and they cal call the world over long distance and your expense BE CAREFUL NEVER EVER PRESS ANY # THEY TELL YOU TO DO SO

reported it to bell fraud dept email is slap@bell.ca and still wiating for a reply

'illegal' call. I deny any business and sale purposed for this type of call. It is phone abuse. My phone is my personal property by constitution. Logic speak, if you want to market your business, no.1 respact my personal property. Otherewise, I called it robbery. Telemarketing by recording message is 0 profit for you.

Missed call no voice mail was left, seem kinda weird thats it all seems to be cell numbers they are calling

I got call from this # and said you won $3000, and press 1 and then hanged up, must be scam. Take necessary actions please!!

Also on August 4, 2010.  On my cell phone, saying I won $3,000 in points/rewards/etc.

You know... I started getting these about a year and a half ago when I was looking for a new job.  I'm suspicious that someone got a hold of my resume, or one of the agencies I applied to was really bogus.

Just received the call... 3:30pm 8/05/2010.  Didn't answer as long distance for me.  No voicemail left.  Only thing I can think of is I entered a BELL contest to win a cell phone last week and supplied my only tel.#, my cell.  Dammit!  The one and only time I have provided my tel #!!!

I received a telephone call from 519-516-9898 at 12:12 pm today.  The person who called was a male, since I did not pick up, the call was forwarded to voice mail.  The person just said "Hello" and then paused and hung up.  I HATE getting these calls with a passion.  Very annoying.

I HAVE SUBMITTED A SPAM REPORT TO THE R.C.M.P. WHO IS DIRECTING IT TO BRANTFORD ONT BRANCH FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION.

I checked this No. on whitepages.It is a landline based in Brantford Ontario Canada.
It's a recorded msge saying that you won $3,000 travel dollars press 1 to learn more...
I hung up & put it on my block list.

forgot to mention the good experience was through casablanca, who was promoting "Travel to go" company. But with those you need to ask the marketing agency who the promotion is through. Stay away from Ramada!!

It's just one of those random call agency's to get you into different types of Time Shares. Most of these are lagit to get you to the time share. I've done many of them. But, sometimes there are hassles attached and can be a troublesome experience. Just went to vegas, 4nights hotel cost $150...so that one was worth it  =)

it's a scam. don't bother answering

Even if you're on the Do Not Call List....it's still a list. The title of it doesn't mean anything to marketers. So much for privacy....!
