Got the same call this morning; but they are getting better at it. They now represent all the banks (CIBC, RBC, TD/CT, etc) for VISA and Mastercard. Offering a low interest rate of 6% for the rest of your life.
Do not give out any information on your card. They will ask for the expiry date, the 1-800 number for customer service (which id's your bank) then your date of birth, followed by asking for the last 8 digits of your card.
This will completely put you at risk as they have enough information at this point to do what ever they want. You do not always need the security digits to complete transactions. Inform your credit card company as soon as possible if this type of call comes in.

Guy said he was from visa with very bad English. Wanted my expire date on my cc. Said I pass because I don't trust you. He's like WHY, WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. I said let me talk to your supervisor douchbag. "Click"

Said he was from Visa Services and that I always paid on time.  Wanted to confirm he was dealing with(my name) at (my number).  Confirmed this call was being recorded, and he was offering a lower rate and asked me to verify three questions to prove my identity.  My birthdate which he said he could get from facebook, than asked for (Customer service number on back of card) at which time I became suspicious.  Asked for the last 3 blocks of four numbers which I gave false information.  At that point he couldn't verify it was me, which almost convinced me he was who he said he was.  He said he could prove he was who he was by giving me the balance and available credit.  I quickly came to this site while on hold and read everybody's comment.  When he came back on, I asked for his name, which he said was David, I informed him I had the police on the other line and surprise surprise...he hung up.

Now I have learnt to hang up on any telemarketer who has an East Indian accent...

This caller has very strong south Asian accent. He claimed to be working for VISA and tried to offer me a lower  VISA card interest rate if I can verify my credit card INFO with him. Basically, he wanted me to give him all the information including the 3-digit security code in the back of my card. I told him that I have more than one VISA cards and which one he was currently working on. Then he said he had all my credit card information in front of him but not supposed to tell me anything about it because he was in the process of verifying my being the real card holder. Haha, it sounds quite reasonable, right? However, if you really provide him with what he wants, then he can go placing any online order by using your credit card without difficulty.

Called to say he was from VISA services and calling about my credit card.  I asked what credit card, he said RBC Visa.  I told him I didn't have one.  I asked him to tell me what my name is.  There was a long pause and he disconnected.

This number called me here in Calgary again.  They called me at 11:30 am this morning and because their call came through with a caller id of "Ontario" instead of "Unknown" the call came through.  I didn't answer because I recognized the number and they didn't leave a voice mail.  Waste of time......

I got a call from this number here in Calgary at 3:30 pm this afternoon.  It was blocked because the caller id showed "Unknown".  They didn't get a chance to leave a message, but from what I've read they probably wouldn't have.

Same number just called me as well.  Was calling about my Visa/Mastercard.  Did not ask for my name to confirm he had the right person.  He can give me a lower interest rate if I just give him my expiry date.  I told him that if he was calling from my Credit Card company, he already knows my expiry date and I am not giving him any information on the phone.  He then told me he was cancelling my credit card that is associated with 31-8-19?.funny thing is, I live in Rural MB and our phone company does not list our mailing address but our physical address?.Section, Township, and Range.  Definitely has no idea what he is talking about.  Go back to your home country!!

I too received the tel # 519-800-1046 call from a man with an east Indian accent. That I could get a "lifetime reduced interest rate" on my MC/Visa. He just needed my expiry date from the card. I asked him why it was so noisy. He deflected. The background sounded like an army of telemarketers all talking at once. When asked who he was calling on behalf of he kind of leaned towards VISA as who he was representing. I said thank you but since I pay my cards off every month it wasn't something I was interested in. Called my credit card company and they confirmed that they are aware of this scam that is going around and to never give out the expiry date, PIN or 3 digit number at the back of the card.

East Indian fellow stated his name was Alex and that he was calling on behalf of visa because i was such a good customer. I played along for a few. He said he wanted to lower interest rates because i paid on time all the time. He then proceeded to ask me my card number and expiration date. I laughed and said i think you are full of it. I said you have my account open you have the number. I said I don't have a visa and that i don't appreciate being lied to. He then changed it saying he was calling on behalf of master card and tried to obtain that info. I told him what he was doing was disgusting he became angry and hung up on me.

Guy told me he was from VISA credit services and he wanted to give me a better interest rate on my visa. Very poor connection and poor English. I told home I didn't have a visa. He said you have a MasterCard then right?? He says it's all the same credit services. I told him that I knew this was a scam and then he threatened me saying because I said he was part of a scam that he was going to put a $2000.00 charge onto my credit card for saying that. I laughed and he just kept telling me that. He eventually hung up.

I got a call from these guys this evening.  Said he was calling from visa and that I had good credit and hadn't been bankrupt.  I've been in banking for over 35 years and knew the guy wasn't legit.  I asked him what bank I had the credit card with....much to my surprise he did say the right bank....hopefully just a lucky guess.  I told him that he was a scam artist and never, never call my number again.  Then I hung up.  I did a "*69" and got their number which I called.  Of course there wasn't an answer, not even a ring tone, just a single beep.

i also received a call from this guy ,,,who was saying that he would give me better rates on my visa card ,,this is really a scan ,,stupid like i got caught ,,before i relizied it wasn't scotia bank at all that was calling ,,I called scotia bank they said it was a scan i had to delete my visa card ,,,this #is in Toronto somewhere ,,hope they fine out about this crook fast enough people are really going to lose out big time ,,

got a call, placed phone on mute and laid it on the counter.  haven't heard back since

called before.

I thought it was the duck cleaning service from Shanghai (they called forever last year!) then a man who could barely speak English explained  that VISA and MasterCard wanted my business and will offer a reduced interest rate....I told him that I was a Canadian born white male over 50.....then there was silence and he whispered that he had to send me to the back of the line.

They called today and said they could lower my interest rate.  He said to look at the back of my card and see the number starting with 1800 then tried to get me to tell him the rest of the number.  I asked him why it mattered what the customer service phone number was and he hung up.

If there was no message left, how do you know it was a woman?

I got the same call from "Visa".  He yawned halfway through his spiel!  He kept saying "you do use this card right?".

got a poor connection line - visa credit card scammer.  Usual s*** about about high rates and my great payment history.  So I turned the tables on them.  Told them I was Sgt. Peters (not real - but then they are real either), and that they have just interfered with a homicide investigation.  I demand their name and number and threaten them with interpol.  I think i made one guy s*** in his pants - about time.  I demanded to speak to their supervisor because he was babbling by now.  Then i got the click of a dead line.  My point - have some fun with these a***oles

Got a call from 519 800 1046 and I didn't recognize the number .I let it ring through to voicemail but they hung up before that. I tried to dial the number but it rang busy.Then I tried reverse phone to see who called.I came to this page and learned it was a scam call. I'm glad I didn't answer it.

Called on our landline this morning.  We answered, and there was no one replied.  (there was a connection, though)

2nd call from this number in the last week. The guy on the phone first said he was calling about my visa card and then 5 seconds latter it was about my master card....I gave him some specific directions FO! He hung up. The first call he called about offering me a lower rate on my Visa card. I asked him what bank he was representing and he hung up.

This number has been calling for months now....we don't even have a Visa...then the guy, who couldn't speak english said it was regarding my computer...I told him I knew he was working a scam and was tracing all the calls...now they show up unknow caller and sometimes..I have two calling at once...I've advised that I am reporting this..tracing the call and contacting the local authorities...they still keep calling.

Third call in less than a week from this number - all offering a low interest rate on myh credit card. Claimed to be calling from Visa in Toronto - sounded to be from Bombay, and I told him so.

Called saying he was from Visa/Mastercard services.  Said they had been monitoring my card and I always paid on time.  Hung up on them.

Received a call this morning.  Sounded like a call center.  The male caller claimed they were with Visa, and would lower my interest rate.  I replied that Visa would never phone me, and told him to "Go to Hades".  The caller persisted, at which point I asked for his name and employee number, to which he replied "Am I ready to write it down".  I replied "Go ahead", and he hung up.

As others have mentioned, a man barely able to speak English called from this number saying he was going to reward me with a reduced interest rate on my Visa card because we have good credit and pay our bill on time each month.  I hung up because he seemed strange and I knew it was a scam.
