I got a text from 9099 today saying "customer issue, california credit union service frozen. please call at 520 334 1027". I don't have an account with a credit union.
I got a text about the same thing last week but it said to call a different number. Caller ID was 9099 too. This scam artist needs to get caught!

I have text messaging blocked on my Sprint account since 2007. When I received a text message coded 9099 yesterday, I thought it was from Sprint. Odd that the message was "customer issue, california credit union service frozen. please call 502 334 1027".
I called Sprint, they have reblocked the texting option. I think their system is being hacked by someone who wants you to call 502 334-1027. I looked up the number in google and bing and found ads for a pest control company in Tucson, Arizona, one of the commentator George R. below calls them Moxie Pest Control and the name is part of the url to the ad:

This is an excellent pest control service. The termite infestation in my mother's house was taken care of quickly, thoroughly, safely, and professionally. For years I would use various other methods but they kept coming back after awhile. Finally I called Moxie Pest Control and the job is done. Its been long enough and there is no sign of them .I know they won't be coming back. These guys are the best exterminators I have seen.

This phone number is being texted to my mobile phone from 9099.
Please stop. I do not have a credit union account. Nor do I want one.

This number is being texted to my phone as a credit union service issue, threatening my account is frozen. Please realize your company's info is being used to commit identity theft and financial fraud. I don't know if ou have any legal rights in this situation, but I suggest you check with an attorney to find out if you're responsible for any crimes committed thru use of your company's telephone equipment.

Why would a pest control company hack into Sprint to send text messages from a credit union? How do they benefit from any responses they get? I assume they're trolling for marks, what kind of marks are they looking for?
