I have a similar situation.  The number they called me from is area code 305. They scared me so much I sent 500$. So is a scam,  they were definitely Indian I think.  I suppose I'm just out 500$.

I have been receiving calls from them for almost a month every week. They have transferred me to some special investigation agent within their company to discuss the case with me. After hearing the well scripted scam I was informed they would be coming to place of employment with officers to arrest my supervisor and myself. I laughed and hung up the phone. They have continued to call and harass me about a factious payday loan asking me to pay in excess of $500 to clear it up without any jail time. The last call was just today and they now state the law suit is stemming from an IRS account.

I took my turn to read them riot act and basically told them to take their scam and stick it. He hung up on me. I promptly called back and continued to harass them verbally on the phone. I even called with my number blocked and stated I was an attorney who was hired to represent myself in the case of harassment, the man stated he would pay me to take his name off of the list, when I denied payment he hung up.

I then called back again and requested to have documents pertaining to the law suit sent to my firm so they can be reviewed and a full investigation would be initiated immediately. He stated there was no need to investigate anything and requested to have to phone number and name of the person being called so they can remove the information. When I asked if this will close the law suit and cease all calls he said there was no law suit and they would no longer call.

I have dug into the information I have for them and here is what I have found:

Multiple phone numbers associated to them, they are using a PBX system that allows to have numbers in multiple area codes and rings to one central number. They are based in Tampa Florida.

They do not like to be harassed by the person they are calling and back down very quickly when insulted and threatened. I have expressed that if the calls did not stop I would personally come to their address listed above with sheriff officers to server papers for harassment, false identification of law enforcement and extorting of monies.

They asked me to no longer call and that I would not be contacted again. We will see what happens next week. Do not in any circumstance authenticate any information they have nor agree to pay any monies. This a well documented ring of Indian hackers getting US citizens information off of the internet and extorting them for money.

Payday loan scam.  They call stating they are from American Law Firm and threatening to sue over some payday loan that I took and never paid.  I have not taken a payday loan since I was 18 and I am 37.  They can barely speak English.  I called the payday loan company that they stated they were collecting for.  This payday loan company did not even have any information about me in their database.  They also told me this was a scam and it has been reported to all the major agencies.  Do not confirm any information with them and report it yourself to the FTC and the FBI if you receive one of these calls.

I'm a police officer and I got one of these calls today from "Jack Thomas".  Jack said, of course, that it's of a legal matter.  First, he messed up my social security number.  When I told him that I am a police officer (which I am), he said it's in regards to a legal matter, again.  I asked him to tell me what the matter was about.  He went on, in broken English, to try to explain what it's about. I just let him talk. When I told him that I'm a police officer, he told ME not to call again.
It's a scam, people, do NOT verify anything with these people. They're fishing for your personal information. Furthermore, if they ever tell you that they've referred it to a police department, ask them which one, which Detective it's been assigned to, a case number, the date the complaint was filed, etc etc. The thing is, private companies cannot send the police to arrest you. I know most of you know this, but for those who are unaware, there are very few who can send the police to pick you up, a prosecutor's office, or Judge are two of them that can, and they are not private companies.
Don't worry, they can't do anything to you. You can report this to your local PD, but, most likely, like the one I work for, there's nothing we can do about it. These people use systems that scramble the phone numbers, so a lot of times the number they call you from is NOT the one that shows up.
Just remember....do NOT give away your personal information. I called them to mess around with them, because I think they're funny, but the bottom line is; do not give them your info.

They are saying I owe money for a payday loan in the $1,100.  They are threatening to have me arrested and have me served with court papers

I had the same idiot call me about twenty minutes ago, stating his name was "Ronnie". I was supposed to believe this guy with absolutely NO COMMAND of the English language is collecting a debt from an American company of which I did not apply?? Come on! The second time he called, I answered, but he didn't. Report this person immediately!

I just got a call from this number. The guy could barley speak english. I dont know what the call is about but they threatened me if I didnt pay back a loan that I dont even remember taking.

someone called me from this number and said they are from america law and when i ask who they were and said steve matain and when my husband call back they give him A different name.So I call the police and they came to my house and talked to me.Well the police call that and ask them for my personal thing.when the police said we are the pa police calling they hunged up on the police.

The guy called me and said he was from American Law, and gave me the same spiel I received when they were calling themselves "New York Crime Department".  The crap about an affidavift is unreal.  I told him I was all set hearing his script and he told me that was fine and he would contact my employer instead and started to threaten me again.  I said good luck and hung up.  This scare tactic is out of hand.

Based on other forums, I think they get your personal information if you apply on Money Mutual.  I do not believe it has anything at all to do with a payday loan overdue, because I have paid all of mine.  What I find strange is they do not ask me for money immediately they just harrass the crap out of me until I get transferred to a supervisor who finally asks for 5,000 to make the "whole thing go away"

I received the same phone call today.. They are from the American Law Associates... the guy identified himself as Mike Buttowski.. Had a foreign accent NOT a polish accent.. He had all my information.. I didnt know what he was calling about.. so when I asked him.. he told me that that he was calling about one of the payday companies that I had just made a payment to. I called the company that he mentioned and they said that they NEVER reported me to anyone..this guy is a fraud.. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY PHONE CALLS FROM HIM..

Jamie, I know the way you feel.. I feel like I was violated.. this guy is a creep.. I am reporting his name Mike Buttoski and phone number 530-554-4551 to the better business bureau than the FBI.. we have to stop losers like this from call and harrassing us..  thank you..

I took out a pay day loan with ABC Pay Day Loans. I missed one payment & this American Law Firm Associates called me telling me I now owed them $822 because their client had turned me over to them. They scared me to death with threats of jail time, held benefits & having my job. They called me on May 23 & left a voicemail saying, "I can only wish you good luck as this situation badly unfolds on you. Good luk & have a blessed day." I set up some payments wth them thinking this was legit because I had taken out a $300 loan. A couple days of their contacting I got a call from the actual company I took the loan out with. After telling her the situation she informed me that it was a scam & to put stop on that payment, so I did. Since then they have called me repeatedly from 530-554-4551 & have now started calling me from 510-567-4446 which those are in 2 separate town 73 miles apart. They called my boss & told her I had an unpaid loan which I know violates my privacy rights. This is a scam!!
