If you work on the basis that everything he told you is a lie, you will not go far wrong.  These scammers know nothing about our computers.  They are not from, or affiliated to Microsoft, they are just a bunch of thick Indians who have not yet realised that this scam is well past its sell by date.  The reason for their calls is to get remote access to our computers and if they are successful they will install spyware/malware to steal personal information like bank details and passwords

They can not shut your computer down unless you actually allow them to access it. The whole thing is a huge scam anyway! all they want is your money! They have no way of knowing whats going on with your computer and No legitimate company cold calls like this.

The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

Just got a guy from I believe the same person saying he was from windows and our computer has malicious hacking files and wanted us to put a special code, in which  we wrote down,  in so he could show us where it was and he would fix it! Yeah right ,,I told him I didn't believe him and that I didn't just get off the tuna boat. He was very rude and would not give up..I told him not to call again, then I hung up!

Man with a thick Indian accent has called two nights in a row from this number, claiming to be a technician with Windows. He says my computer has recently downloaded malicious software, exposing my bank files. He does not give his name when asked, but said he was in Los Angeles and gave an employee ID # of some sort.  FRAUD!! I told him both he was full of s**t and to never call again.
