I'm the manager. Pal is a great cause for the kids in CA. It is 100% 501 (c) 3 non-profit. If you want to be taken off the list... I will asap... no questions asked... just e-mail tpetrillo@calpal.org or call 559-228-8725 as long as you leave you ten digit phone number (including area code) I'll remove you with in 24 hours...

California Pal #1-559-228-8725 is abusive to the American household, ours included. They should be fined by government watchdogs. They disobey the National Do Not Call List. They should be stopped period. Why the continued complaint goes unanswered decade after decade...NO ENFORCEMENT OF THE LAW. Is California becoming like the rip-offs of Illinois Government politics? Maybe so, absolutely. In a resesion, crime sprawles and leaks like sewage everywhere.

Hang-up calls here as well. And, as bad as the charity navigator numbers are ... it is even worse. These charities always have corporate and legacy donors. It costs very little to get these donations. This means that the efficiency of cold-call phone donations is very bad indeed. Also, some Google searching reveals that they spend money on things like award dinners and sending people on expense paid trips. The best way to handle guys like this seems to be to never donate to phone solicitation. Find your favorite charity and give to them directly.

Calls every night around dinner time and when answered they hang up. annoying as hell.

I got a phone call -- the caller announced that he was from the California Police Activities League. The number on the caller-ID read "650-878-4850". I hung up and tried calling the number back but the number announced it was a disconnected line. This basically means they are forging their CLID record. Now I'm not saying that this is not a legitimate charity trying to raise funds, ostensibly for a good cause. But any organization that is legitimate would have no reason to forge their caller ID records. This is highly suspicious.

Tim Petrillo pffft! what a jerk! "I'll remove you with in 24 hours..." yeah right!!!! they have NEVER stopped calling me !!!

Also, multiple abusive hang-up calls. Their solution to those who complain seems to attempt to mute the complaints by having this Petrillo character promise to put people who complain on their own private do-not-call list. As a charity they are not in violation of do-not-call. But multiple harassing hang-up calls are in violation of the more local "don't harass over the phone" laws. Funny how an org who claims to work with the cops doesn't care about this. In any case, over 40 percent of the money they take in goes to overhead. Look them up at www.charitynavigator.com. Find another way to help "the kids".

Same, multiple hang-up calls. If you google this subject, you will see that they have numerous complaints, but refuse to stop. Their solution seems to be to have this Petrillo character tell the few people who complain they can get put on a special do-not-call list. This means that they have no intention of treating the public as a whole in a decent manner, they want to bug the heck out of everybody. Also, look up their numbers at www.charitynavigator.com. ONE STAR! almost as bad as it gets. Over 40 percent goes to overhead. If you want to help "the kids" you will need to find another way with a more honorable charity.

Said he was from PAL, I asked 'why are you calling?' He then started to go into story about needing $ for police, I said sarcastically 'yeah right and I'm with the DA's office..." the fool said 'well you're someone I really want to talk to' and kept going...I told him not to call again and hung up.

This dude called me and gave me about 5 minuters of his B.S. i asked him how he got my name and phone number he said "the local police department had your information and it comes up here on my computer"..I told him no police department on the planet will give out any information to anyone for anything. especially to solicit money for charity. He hung up real quick.

These people have called me 5 times in the last two weeks. I told them twice to stop calling me, but the calls continue. I finally reported them to https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx. I realize that they are a charity, but I beleive that even a charity organization is required to stop calling if told to.

This is a total scam, I called the local Police Department and even that phone number on here. When I asked for the phone number and address that is required by FCC telemarketing rules, the guy hesitated, and eventually hung up, this proves that this is a phone scam.

I've gotten several calls where no one is on the other end. If it is "California Police Activities League," it's an organization that gets the worst possible rating on Charity Navigator:
http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=5797
California Police Activities League
2000 East Fourteenth Street
San Leandro, CA 94577
tel: (800) 622-5725
Why do they always hang up? Are they checking to see if you're home?
Diana 2008-05-31 17:36:03 Non-profit Organization
Never leaves a message. Get several a week and then stops for a few days and then starts up again. It is a scam.

I have been getting calls from 1-559-228-8725 and then it hangs up. Thanks to the information on this site, I called the 800 number and asked to be removed from their list. We will see if the really do!

I have gotten a call from 559-228-8725 for approximately 4 weeks... everyday! I went online and went to the California PAL site (www.calpal.org) and went to the Contact Us at the bottom of the screen. Here's their 800 number, you can call them and complain on their dime: 800-622-5725.
California PAL is a non-profit organization supposedly formed to provide assistance to the various Police/Sheriff Activities Leagues. They are NOT associated with ANY police department. They spend 80+% of the funds they collect on administrative fees!
But in actuality it is listed to the following individuals through Pacific Bell:
Hipolito Fernandez
1804 E Harvard Ave
Fresno, CA 93703
Mao Lee
P J Thomas
Neng F Xiong
4528 E Fountain Way
Fresno, CA 93726

this is the california police association or whatever. They want donations for fallen officers and other miscellaneous stuff. I don't go into great detail with any of them, but they seem to be less abrasive than most scammers. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!
Michelle 2008-05-07 01:14:15 Unknown
559-228-8725 called earlier today. Hung up when the call was answered. Extremelty RUDE for someone who is supposedly calling for a charity. Will keep this in mind the next time the phone rings with that number on the Caller ID box.
JeffO 2008-04-24 01:36:02 Unknown
Wants money to support officers spending time with kids to keep them away from drugs and gangs. Nice line of "BULL".
With some research I find they charge 80%-90% of all donations to themselves as "expenses". Only 10-20% goes back to your local community. That's the theory. QUESTION IS: who checks their books?
SOUNDS LIKE A RIP OFF TO ME.
They have pounded me with phone calls for years. Along with man others.
WAKE UP AMERICA: Fraud is the #1 crime now. Don't turn loose of your money unless easily. Ask how much goes back to the local cummunity. Ask for a letter of reference from the local police chief. VERIFY IT TOO.

calls, answer and they hang up. Googled the name California Pals and it was defined as: California PAL is a non profit organization formed to provide assistance to the various Police/Sheriff Activities Leagues located throughout the State of ...www.calpal.org - May want to write this down if you choose to email and ask them to take you of their calling list.
