I have goteen dozens of calls asking for money for the police. The latest caller told me that I was being put on a list for refusing to pay and that I should hope I dont get pulled over or else I would get a surprise. I am now going to record every call and if threatened again its going on youtube. The police have got to be stopped here in Florida, this mafia style protection money racket has gotten out of control.

Police & Sheriff do not ask for donations.  This is a scam.

Called the number back..rude man answered..Florida association of Police..yadda yadda..I asked to be removed from their list..hopefully my wishes will be respected..

Initially ignored the calls.  After googling it and seeing what they wanted, the next time they called on 5/21/2012 I gave a verbal cease and decist from calling again.  on 7/28/2012 3 rings and they hung up.  I dialed back and quoted the C&D date and informed him if a third call is made to my number they will be guilty of harrassing an officer of the court as I do, in fact, work for the ADA's office in my county.  I won't bother with the Florida Department of Ag which handles DNC violations ("charity" solicitations are exempt), I'll just go through my boss straight to a judge and get things handled- very quickly.

Ask them to send paper work showing what percentage of funds actually go to Sheriff's Association.  Last time I looked, it was less than 5%.

I have received a couple of calls from this number.  Since I didn't know who it was I let it go to the machine. No message was left.  If it really is someone collecting for the FL state troopers, I'd be happy to donate if I could.  Problem is we're retired with a fixed income and things are really tight budget wise. I used to donate to assorted organizations when I was working and could do it. I have an especially soft spot for Law Enforcement. I don't think a lot of them have enough support from their own people and most of it is to do with budgets.. or lack of.  Our country's economic situation isn't helping Law Enforcement at all. I want our Law Enforcement folks to have the money they need to help them better serve and protect. I think the bad guys have an advantage these days and I wish I had a ton of money to donate to the troopers and any other law enforcement agencies I could!! Maybe I'll answer one of those calls and tell the person on the other end how I feel next time.

Taxes do not cover this. That's why they make the calls to begin with.

what makes you think it is a scam? just sounds like a charity to me

Do not call list will NOT stop fundraising calls, it will however stop SALES calls for vacuums, vacation packages, etc...

To stop fundraising calls you have to ask that group to put you on their Do Not Call list. It will only stop calls from THAT group, not all of them. Also, remember that there are thousands of these places, so don't assume they are all the same. Either don't answer the phone call that has a number you don't recognize (common sense here!) or when you do answer, be polite and ask to be removed.

Florida State Troopers for a donation. Jerk on phone was RUDE

Same as reported.  Calls don't stop.  Just lists as Boca Roton on caller ID.

They called here about 5 months ago and tried to con me into a cash donation. They said it was
for Florida state troopers. I thought we paid taxes for that sort of thing. Anyway, They called again
Today 04/15/2012 and the answer michine took the call and no message left.

The best way to deal with these sorts of calls is to answer but say nothing.  Immediately start pressing every button on your phone as fast as you can.  They will get the idea that they have called a number that is for electronic communications and stop calling.

So far this has worked for me.

I too get the ID of Florida.  I reported it as a nuisance number.  

If it is a real charitable collection group then they need to change how they do business.  This one gives charitable solicitation a bad name.

We receive this call several times a day and want it to stop. I just called and someone answered and I told them to quit calling us. Please file a complaint as this is very annoying to keep receiving this call several times a day.

The do not call list is a joke and there is no one that enforces it.  I've been down that road.  These telemarking firms are aware of it and they still call.  They don't care!  Don't waste your time...listen for couple seconds...hang up.  The longer you stay on line the more of a target you become.  Computer logs all info and then you're considered a LIVE WIRE and the number gets sold to other companies.  Hang up as soon as you know it's TM.

I received a call from this number among many variasions of this number as well as other numbers that come up as unknown, blocked, telefund, etc.  So I decided to change the factory recorded message on my answering machine to the following:

Hello, If you appear on my caller id as an unknown, blocked, telemarketer, telefund, or  charity, I will not pick up the phone, I am monitoring my calls and keeping track and will report you to National Do Not Call. Take me off of your list and stop calling me. My friends and famliy and others who I do need to communicate with, you know how to contact me on an alternate number or leave a message.

I received a call from this number on my caller Id said FLorida when I pick up the receiver a gentlemen with a strong deep voice spoke and said he was from the state troopers division trying to collect donations for the department I asked him how did he get my number since I had signed for that program where should not receive phn calls from this listings however he said that it did not applied for them and he make it seem because they where the police. I told him I did not answer calls of that nature because he could be whom ever I dont know really who he is.  He said he will not call again.  this is what I hope for.
