I keep getting these calls but haven't had any debt at all since the late 1980's when I paid off my mortgage. So I would say it is definitely a SCAM.

I was wondering - did you find out if the 1099c is legitimate or a hoax? I was wondering as I received the same call from the same number stating that I had received a 1099c and I looked it up. 1099c is a form you receive when a company cancells a debt and reports that cancellation to the IRS. Basically you have to pay taxes on this debt as it is seen as income. So now I'm really curious. Did anyone find out if this is legitimate or is this part of a scam?
