Well, because the callers claim to be raising funds for Veterans so one might assume that a Veteran would be more likely to defend the organization. He is simply stating that even though he is a Veteran he does not appreciate the tactics this organization is using.
In the future a simple "Thanks for your service to our country" will suffice.

I called the number back and they say its for homeless veterans

I've gotten 3 calls TODAY from this number, no message left.  So much for a private number and DO NOT CALL list!

They called for my husband today and hung up when I asked who was calling.  When I called back, the recording said the number was out of service.

I really don't care who they are, and I'm a veteran. I don't do business this way. They can send material in the mail (which is the method I require) and I will look at it. I will then pictch into file 13 if I'm not interested.

These people called me at 7:45pm, left no msg on answering machine.  

Caller ID only says "Delray Beach, FL"  Internet research seems to indicate they are "American Homeless Veterans" or a similar-named charity [several charities have "homeless" and "vets" or "veterans" in the title].

"American Homeless Veterans" operates out of Indiana, and is a dubious charity (does not respond to BBB inquiries).

I put them on "call block," but these computer/robo dialers can "spoof" their numbers, so...

Received a phone call from this number. No voice message left.

"American Homeless Veterans" not even listed by CharityNavigator.org , so you can be reasonably confident that these are slime-balls abusing the good will of honest people, at the expense of the Veterans.  If you pick up the phone, let them know what you think, especially if you are a Veteran.

If you want to give to a charity, use charitynavigator.org to look for an honest charity helping in the area where you want to lend a hand.  I have never been solicited by phone for a charity that had good ratings on Charity Navigator.  They were always pocket lining self serving creeps.  YMMV.

Got a call from this number today.  didn't wair for the answering machine t even pick up the call.

Same thing was happening to us. I finally called the number and was told the "dropped calls" were due to an ice storm??! Anyway, they are a group called American Homeless Veterans. I cannot say they are a complete scam, but do a web search. They certainly are not the most honest group. My husband just returned from serving in Iraq so I am always generous to veteran origanizations. However, not this one!

We get this call to and they hang up. I called and got a recording to hang on the line and my call will be answered in the order it was recieved.  Then it picks up, i hear a noise and then hangs up.

Wont leave message or speak when line is answered.

27 calls in the past 6 days.  Nobody ever comes on when the line is answered, but after the first two or three times,so I tried calling them to get them to stop calling.  NO answer so I don't bother to answer them either anymore...let them wear out their autodialer

I have been getting called from this number and they never leave a message.  I have caller I.D. on my phone and if I don't recognize a name or a number, I ask them to leave a message.  Nobody from this number ever leaves a message.  It's getting irritating.

We are getting junk calls almost every day from this number, but no one ever speaks when I answer.

Just received a call from this number in Florida.  They hung up when I answered. Another one to add to my 'blocked' list.

Looks like a scam.  Saw it listed in another forum.

American Homeless Veterans

We've also been getting these calls. It is VERY annoying. Even when I answer they will not say anything.

They've been calling me for days, usually multiple times per day. Never leave a message. I called them back, but it just answers and hangs up.

Caller ID  just says FLORIDA. State and city names seem to be a favorite ruse for telemarketers lateky.
