It was a recorded telemarketing call.

I thought the prerecorded telemarketer calls were supposed to be dead as of 9/1/09.  I had another call tying up my answering machine.  Where is this from, somewhere in the Indian Ocean?

Claimed to be from my college. Came up as privacy director. Sent chills down my spine! Creepy !!!!!!

Called while i was thankfully out.  I have ATT privacy manager, it's supposed to block recorded or computer generated calls.Y4M6

Caller ID says privacy director, usually no one there, but this time an AT&T operator said to press 1 to be connected.  I hung up instead.

Who is the person calling and never saying anything. I think this individual must be emotionally disturbed and he or she need to seek some type of therapy.

Yeah,  We don't have Bell South either.  We get two calls a week from this entity and no one is ever there.  I'd like to hear the explanation wisdommom.

Oh, and I don't have Bellsouth... so whomever came up with that theory... explain that!

got a call on a new number tonight... 561-688-2314.  I know it's a Florida number but not wanted!

I have received over 30 calls from this number. They say this call is for Carissa. Well there has never been a Carissa in this household. When you try to answer the call, you get a dial tone. What is going on?? I as so tired of these calls. The phone company will do nothing about it, and you can't find out who it is without signing up for some "information" site that charges you for it. Some collection agency in West Palm Beach is all I can find out.

We were charged for calling this number when we haven't, it showed up on our phone bill as directly dialed from us, which I know isn't true, another # one for a cell phone has started showing up on our phone bill over and over since the middle of January, it's from a different part of florida and we don't know anyone in florida, I can understand the recieving calls but being billed for calling numbers you haven't?

This is not a cruise line or any other telemarketing number!  This is the number Bellsouth uses when you sign up for their "Unknown Name/Number" or "Private Name/Number" blocking service.  It screens the calls and when you answer, you are supposed to push 1 to see who it is...if you want the call, you can then accept or you can hang up or decline it...Follow the instructions and call Bellsouth to cancel the service if you don't want calls from this number...promise you'll get more telemarketing calls than you do now though!

This number is from Imperial Cruise lines out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I only know this because I heard the voice activation begin when my "privacy director" answered the phone as well....but I have their 800 number and called them and asked to be taken off their call list and the woman was very rude to me. She said that since we won a 2 night cruise they want to set it up and once it is done we will come off their call list. The 800 number is 800-441-6858. Good luck because she ended up hanging up on me. I'm trying to get a report line number to the "no call list" and will be reporting you. I suggested everyone else do the same once you actually first call the 800 number and tell them to remove you. If you filled out a card or did a survey or something of that nature that you could have "won a cruise" this apparently is the company. They keep harassing us into paying up front for this cruise that we don't want to pay anything on until we have actually booked a cruise, and we've told them this. We've told them to take us off their list .. that we are not interested in this anylonger and they have not yet removed us.

My sister's number comes across as privacy director, but still displays her phone number.

This is the generic number used by Privacy Director.  If you call the number there is a recording which explains it.  Too bad it is ineffective.

I just receive a call from this number as well.  561 is West Palm Beach, and I live in this area code.  Generally when you receive a blocked call they must state who is calling.

The calls from 688-2314 came in on my ringmaster line - a number designated for faxes only that is a hybrid of my one main number but rings differently so I don't pick it up. That does not mean a fax machine called my fax machine. It can mean a person called the ringmaster number for my fax machine. However, I believe it was a fax machine calling because it started one morning at 6:15 AM. I finally used call blocking to stop it, and that seems to work. Without call blocking, it continues to ring even though privacy director gets it.

All I can say is you all need a big DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

When you sign up for Bell South Privacy Director, all calls with caller ID blocked go to the privacy directory service - then the privacy director service calls you so you can listin to who it is and screen the call.

3 calls 3:32 AM; 3:44 AM and 3:45 AM, Privacy Director on Called ID

I keep getting calls from 561-688-2314.  The last time I pressed 1 to see who is was and just got the dial tone.  I looked it up and it's in Florida.

This number is out Florida....That is all i know......

I keep getting calls from this number...have no idea who this is.
