Called our nonprofit and said she was with CNBC and Family.Net.

Wanted us to do an interview with her on "Inside Senior Care."

When I called the return number, 954-573-3036, it was a non-working number.

Got a voicemail from Linda Gibson yesterday afternoon claiming to be from a program called "Inside Freedom" on CNBC wanting to do a profile on our organization.  She left the number 954-573-3036, but when we called it didn't work, and I ended up here while trying to find out how else to contact her.  Thanks to everyone for the warnings.

I got a voicemail yesterday afternoon from Linda Gibson, said she was television producer interested in doing a feature story on our organization for her program 'Insight into the Environment' to air on CNBC.  I couldn't find this program on the CNBC website and finally found this posting.  Thank you to all who have written in to warn of this scam and prevent me from wasting my time.

I recieved the FED EX package as promised from Linda Gibson, with a note signed by her on "Insights" letter head. I am now more enlightened on what this is, she is a freelance producer for infomercials. This organization "Insights" produces these infomercials, sells the opportunity to you or your organizaiton to broaden its exposure and they in turn sell it as "news worthy" information to networks. Hugh Downs is the "host" of Insights and as a result brings a level of credibitly to the organization and what it produces. While they would love to take your 22k to produce this, they do have strict requirements that ensure it is a saleable product for them. The content must be validated, the information must in fact be educational, informative and of interest to a broad range of people and most notably educational. It is about you or your organization not just advertising yourself, but educating the public about you as well. They seem to provide a big bang for the buck because of the connection "Insights" has through Hugh Downs. While we all need to be aware, understanding and read everything, this seems legit if your looking to bring broader awareness and educate your constituency on your organization.

Good luck folks

Had a call from a woman claiming to be a producer for "Insight" www.insightshd.com I believe. Saying for yes, a fee of 22k or so she would profile me and my organization and put it on CNN CNBC FOX or whoever I wanted, plus web links etc. Sounded odd, she had my mail info so she got it from my web site or something. She is fedexing a package due to arrive here after lunch tomorrow. I will let you know if there is anything to it. SHe left a number 954-573-3036 and an address 594 South Federal Hwy, Suite 600, Boca Raton Florida 33432. With all that info kind of sounds legit, but producing a show and hoping to sell it to these networks maybe.

Got a call from Linda Gibson claiming to be a TV producer wanting to do a show on Discovery Health Network called "Insights to Oncology" asked to speak to the physician I work for. I asked to tell me about the show and she was very vague. Also, she did not know the speciality of the physician. When I requested to know how she got his name she simply answered "research". Sounded fishy to me but I spoke with the doc who asked where her area code was located so I googled the telephone number she left me to call back to and found this website with similar stories. We decided to call her back to request that she send via fax a schedule of the show including topics and such. She refused to send any paper until she had a "15 minute conversation with the doctor". She did direct me to a website though. Which as stated in one of the other stories above is bogus. You can tell when you view the source code it is a "cover sheet" to something else. (go to another site you know is legit, right click and veiw source code, compare them this one is not right).

This is definately some kind of scam.

This lady (Linda Gibson) claiming to be from A & E Network. E! News and others. She makes you feel very important and she takes her time spinning the web to catch you in. She is VERY good at her shpiel and actually sounds like she knows what she is talking about. She banters around some industry lingo and then questions if you know what she is talking about. I finally interupted her (she goes on forever) and asked her if there was any financial commitment on our part. $22,900 at which point I quickly hung up the phone.

Message from Linda Gibson, producer saying she wanted to do a special feature on our non-profit anti-poverty organization for a show called "Insights into Services for Others" that would air nationally. Number to call her back was 954 573 3036 -- I was suspicious because call display listed the number as 000 0000 0. I checked first, and didn't return her call.

She is still up to her tricks. Took me about 30 seconds of research to find all sorts of information about her and the type of scam they are running. Also received a call from "Linda Gibbs" last night on my voice mail. Claimed to be a TV producer wanting to do a feature story on my recent DVD release (they are getting names from press release contacts). Claim to air it on CNBC and Fox News.

This time, claiming to be "business of Arts" director and sent me to a website that at first glance looked legitimate, but in viewing the source code, it was obviously a shell site that served no purpose other than to fool people into thinking they were a legit company. She's changed her contact phone number to 754-367-1196 (although the call itself came from 954-427-1802). Found other posts on blogs where she uses these same phone numbers but goes by a different name - Linda, followed by some last name that starts with "G". Uses different company names and TV show names to fit whatever your area of expertise happens to be.

Definitely a scam and glad I had the sense to do some research before calling her back.

Scam is how you described - time release pressure to sign a contract right away and fork over amount from 22 to 28K is what I'm finding. Once they get your money, in some cases they do make some amateur video - that never goes anywhere, except maybe on your shelf!

These people are shameless and unfortunately are enough trustful people out there that they can find as victims who have no idea that such evil hearts and minds exist, waiting to rip them off at every opportunity.
Anyway, the best way to fight them is to inform the public to be on the look out for this type of scam. Sad that nowadays you can't afford to blindly trust anybody that contacts you unsolicited. The majority are bold-faced liars.

I received a voicemail from Diana, asking me to call producer Linda Gibbs at 754-367-1007. Linda couldn't say where she found out about me, ("our research team is a machine") or why she thought I would be a fit for her programing (she read me the bio from my web site as an answer).

She used an excellent sales script: engaged me, asked how I would use the product, complimented my choice.

Then, she went for the close in 3 parts: the money part being $22,900, and asked who would make a decision about that.  I replied that I would want my CPA and my attorney to advise me, and she asked for a conference call with them TOMORROW.

I said I didn't anything about her, or the company, I was in the car, could she email me something. Twice she offered to FedEx a package that would arrive tomorrow, contingent on my agreeing to the conference call.  When I asked a third time for email links to people who were my peers, she listed clients "like Donald Trump and Eric Clampton."

I replied that I was not a peer of either, did she have someone who was like me I could talk to, and she said she was "going to move in another direction."

There was nothing about this call that felt good.
In fact, it felt bad enough that I was willing to invest
more time, here, telling the story.

I might post this on a few other groups on LinkedIN and Facebook too.
But I'm most interested in hearing if I was wrong.
It's confusing that she absolutely would not sent me email--preferred FedEx to email.  If she is legitimate, I've done her a disservice.
