Caller said that I owed an unpaid bill on trash bags that I had ordered over 2 years ago. She threatened to turn me over to a collection agency if I did not pay. We told her to send us a bill. This is bull.

I got a call from Rebecca at ADHW Internal Collections (caller ID shows D H W A 562-867-6002). They claimed I bought $39 light bulbs from them and never paid for them. I had purchased lightbulbs from Handicapped/Disadvantaged workers in the 1990's. at that time the same lady would call me about once a month begging me to order more - I couldn't afford to and didn't need any more so told her no. I moved in 1999 and never heard from her again. So now that I have my old phone # back I get this call from them. Only they still have my address from 1999. Said I owed them about $250 with late fees but they could reduce it to $150 if I paid now. Said "you wouldn't want this to ruin your credit rating". I was livid and told them it sounded like a scam. I kept yelling "you're calling me now about lightbulbs from over 14 years ago!?"  It was then that she said I had ordered them in 2011!  I yelled at her again that i hadnt lived at that address since 1999!!!  She finally said "ok we are going to drop this case because obviously someone else received the light bulbs".   What a bunch of crap!!!   Who can be contacted about this to put a stop to these people?  Just imagine how many people have paid them!!!

Warren, I like you have received calls from Anna Bells.  I was told that the scammers have twisted the name around of a legitimate business which is, AHDW, American Handicapped and Disadvantaged Workers. A representative from the legitimate business said that there was a ring of scammers that have twisted their name and used their past records trying to get people to pay for products that they haven't ordered.  It is a shame that these people have scammed innocent people but even worse, they have destroyed the reputation of the legitimate business that truly does work for the disadvantaged people in this country.  But because of calls like you and I AND MANY OTHERS HAVE RECEIVED, their business has all but shut down.  This is a complete shame.  Please people, do not pay any amount of money to anyone that says they are from ADHW. Ms Anna Bells told me that the name of the business she works for is ADHW, American Disadvantaged and Handicapped Workers.  See how close her business name is to the other business that truly does help people?  Makes me sick!

Just like the rest of you I also received a call from Anna Bells.  Same story as everyone else.  I called the legit business which is American Handicapped and Disadvantaged Workers (AHDW) and was told that there was a scam ring out there that had twisted their name just enough to sound like the legitimate business but still be different.  He said that the phone numbers are registered to an apartment complex and that these are predatory scam artists.  He told me to contact the State of CA, Dept of Justice, Attorney General and file a report.  He said that the law says that in the event of a past due bill, the company is required to contact you 6 times, 3 by mail and 3 by phone.  He said that they also only have 12 months to collect on past due debts.  So for these idiots to say they are collecting on a debt from 2-3 yrs ago are way out of line!  They do that so that people wont remember if they ordered the product or not.  It's a crying shame that so many people have sent these scammers money in an attempt to avoid going to collection.  I have contacted 3 credit bureaus that told me that this is a well known scam and to NOT pay them any money! Please do the same: report them, and never send them one red cent!

Message from Annabelle. 562 867 6170  Said I owe 239.00 for trash bags from 2011. If pay by phone or overnight a check by end of week the bill would be 189.86. Asked how they say I had been contacted, she said they were not required to leave a message. She said they have recording of me ordering bags and the invoice was delivered with the bags. The address is   HW inc, PO BOX 1427 , Bellflower CA  90707  .I could not verify this is actually Disadvantaged Handicapped Workers.

Got the same phone call from Lisa Ganon.  told me I ordered a first aid kit.  I said I did not and asked to see an invoice.  Should could not send me one.  Told me she had delivery confirmation.  When I said I would not pay with out proof of delivery she said if I did not pay she would see me in court.  Now I owed then over $200  on a 50.00 item due to interest.  I told her I would not pay and she said it would hurt my credit score.  This is such a scam!  I checked them out on the web and they don't exist.  They pretend to be the people who sell light bulbs, but they are not.  DON'T GIVE THEM ANY $$$$$.

I received a phone call from 562-866-2113 with the same issue as 5629255163. The woman said that in Dec 2010 I ordered trash bags for 49.99 from DHWA. She said that she had confirmation from usps that I received the bags which i never ordered nor received. She said that they repeatedly tried to contact me about payment. I never received a call and told her that there were no messages on my answering machine. She said due to Hipa laws they couldnt leave a message that only when it goes to internal collections can they leave a message. She said she was from internal collections. I told her to send the bags and I would pay the 49.99 but she said I had to pay since i already received them and that now I had incurred late fees and my new total was $250! This is ridiculous. I told her to let it go to collections.

Just got the call from DHWA No. 562-866-2113.. Said I ordered trash bags for 59.99 and now had 27 months of late fees and now owed. $263.  Threatened to go to collections, if I didn't take care of it with that phone call.  SCAM.

Please forward that address to the BBB of California, they might be able to track these people down and we can all sleep better knowing these scammers are caught and they can not do this to other people that might fall for the scam!!!!!!!!!!!

I just received the same message but for light bulbs in 2009.  I didn't order light bulbs.  Number was 562-866-1728 name was Jackson Montgomery.  I was also told good luck in court and that I would pay $2000 including court costs.  The light bulbs supposedly cost $39.99.

Well, here is is 2012 and they're apparently at it again.  I received a call that was barely audible so I couldn't make out the female caller's name, but she said that she was from DHWA, and that I had something unpaid that was being turned over to collections.  The phone number used was 562-866-1361.  I had no idea what this was about, but I take my credit seriously and so I called the number back.  It didn't ring through.  It didn't quite sound like a busy signal, but something about it sent my antenna up.  I went online to see what I could find out.  After seeing this website, I now believe this is more of the same scam.  Thanks for the heads up!

I also received a call stating that I owed for light bulbs which I supposedly purchased in 2010. I went home and checked all my past cancelled checks, looked at past paid purchases and could find no such purchase. ( I checked because I had, at one time, purchased from disabled workers,but I had always paid for my products). I called this Lesa back and reported that I found no record that I had ordered something for which I had not paid. Lesa reported that because of late charges, my total owed went from $49.95 to over $200. She told me that most of that could be erased if I put it on a card now. I requested an address to which I could mail it. She gave me a California address. I will write to that address and report that if I truly owe a business, that business must furnish me with a letter of DEBT VALIDATION. I will request that letter.

My call came from 562-866-1728 saying I had bought trash bags almost 3 years ago and hadn't paid.  The bags were only $ 78.50 and although I don't think I bought them, I agreed to pay that amount.  Nope, I also had to pay $ 11.00 per month in late charges.  I said no way would I do that and now I am going to have a black mark on my credit report and be taken to court.  I HOPE SO!  There was no effort to collect this bill as I have had the same phone numbers for years.  When they call you, just say Sue Me and hang up.

Least then you have an address and can do research on them. I bought a product in 2010 from a company called lifeline industries for the blind and disabled . I purchased one product called EZ clean for $45 for a 32 oz bottle .  A few days ago I got a message from a Lisa from DHWA, saying I was going to collections for a bill. Trying to figure our what this was about, I called it back . She said oh ! I am so glad you called me back,if we go ago ahead and take care of this bill now it will save her a lot of paper work. I asked what this was about and she said, do not worry we are a company that takes care of bill before it goes up to collections. When she said that it was a purchase for EZ clean in December , I knew it was a scam because I did not order anything nor did I receive any product. When I left her know it was a scam she got all nervous and said well then this will have to go to collections and there will be a court date you must show up for and so on. I told her what ever you have to do, I will report them for scam. My husband called her and asked for shipping info of the so called delivery and she said he will have to get that at court .  Lol !! I sent two emails to our local BBB and also the Moblie Alabama's BBB were this address was out of and the FBI , today I got a call from a police officer out of Alabama. He said the address of this company lifeline was no longer at that location and every thing was gone even the carpet. So be aware, they might pop up some were else, even under a different name .  So every one sleep well knowing it is a scam,they might have got us once but more!!!

I just got a called 562-866-1612 said I had candles sent to me n 09 and I have not paid the bill. Had dates that they tried to reach me. I did not order that and didn't have any. Refus to pay. Said good luck n court and hung up. Do not Pay Them.

I called the number back that was on my phone and you aren't allowed to do that! Says that your phone call can't be completed as dialed so that proves it bogus. Just remember not to give any bank or credit card information over the phone or you will be out your hard worked dollars!

Looks like all the calls from this company is a scam! DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THESE PEOPLE IF THEY CALL YOU!  REPORT IT TO SOMEONE AS SOON AS YOU CAN. THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO  BE STOPPED.

My husband got the same phone call tonight. Said that he ordered trash bags about 3 years ago so they were calling before they turned him over to collections! My husband never orders stuff like that especially when you can buy them at the store cheaper. What bull!!

Got a call from Lisa she said I bought a windchime in Dec.2009  for $49.95 now the bill is$149.85. Will check my records.Athough the only bill I would have received was. In the package with the product.Everyone said this is scam do your own checking.Glad I did

I also got a phone call this evening at about 6:00pm central time,from DHWA, said that her name was Lisa and her no# was 562-866-1612 said that I needed to pay for some kind of soap that I had supposedly bought in Dec. 14, 2009 and was to pay for it on  Feb. 24, 2010. I told her I had not ordered any soap from them and that what I had ordered I paid for. She then told me that my bill was 49.95 and I told her I would not have ordered soap that cost that much anyway. I ask why they waited 3 years to notify me and she said she didn't know ,all she was suppose to do was give me a call before turning it over to a collection if I didn't pay the bill and that I would have to pay all the court cost and Lawyers fees.Told me to call her back on Thursday.I don't think I will call her back because I know I do not owe this!!

Got a answering machine message today from "Lisa" at DHWA at 562 866-1612 claiming I have a past due bill and it will go to collections.  Thanks for the heads up on this scam.

Same scam different number 562-866-0222 Some creepy woman with horrid manners named Sara Morgan. She had information re: air freshener I'd ordered from another company but claimed I'd also ordered from DHWA and quoted a price of more than $80 for 2 bottles. I have a good memory and bank statements and know I never ordered from this company. I work with lots of attorneys so told her right off I had paid bills from years back, had only ordered from another company, never hers and would consult with one of the attorneys I work with tomorrow. She started screaming at me "good luck in court" and said they would set a court date. This is not how collections work.  She gave me a PO Box in Los Angeles. I am filing a complaint with the BBB. Do not fall for this scam. They have snagged order lists from other companies and are using them to scam people
