Today is 07/19/2012, I received a call from a HEAVILY accented man, stating the same thing about "good luck to you, the situation falls upon you..." etc... I tried to return the call because the message was very threatening, however, when I called back, he said "to hold" so he could transfer me to his supervisor. At THIS point, I HEARD the man speaking in his forgein language to someone & no one ever came back to the line. I work in the field of finance & the "fair debt collection practices act" PROHIBITS any type of threatening or HARRASSING phone calls. This is clearly a violation of my rights!! I've never had a payday loan!!

Same message and scare taticts.  I called the number back and the person on the phone told me that I would have to call back tomorrow to talk to him, but that it was for my benefit.  These people need to be stopped.  How can we stop them?..

They called again for the 2nd time in 30 minutes, the same guy, named Greg WIlliams said the exact same thing again-have my retained lawyer call them or else good luck to you, you will need it, the situation unfolds on you.  He does not even say who he is with.  I am reporting these people. I am on the do not call list and it seems like they do nothing about it when you report it.

Just got  call from these people, heavily accented male stating that I must call them today or have my lawyer call him today and if I didn't the situation was on me. I don't what the hell this guy is talking about.  This is just a scam.  I don't answer my phone to anyone I don't know and to anyone who does not allow their name to show.  If I don't know you, I don't have business with you and it's a scam artist.  It seems like more and more of this is happening everyday.  I had a pay day loan company take money out of my checking account a few weeks ago and I did not make any pay day loan.  I don't where they got my bank account information from, but thank goodness the bank replaced it and went after them for it and it happened the same day someone hacked into my e-mail account.

I just received a call like this also. He was stating that I would be arrested at my job and there was a lawsuit filed against me. As soon as I asked for his information so that I could speak with my lawyer, he hung on me. Be careful this is a big scam and the people that call sound like they have peanut butter in their mouths when they talk.

I have gotten calls and I was stupid enough to pay some back. Then he told me I paid everything off an then I received another call saying we looked in the National Debt Association database and I owed 8 more payday loans. I asked and asked for paper work and they never gave me anything. Please if anyone can help me please shoot me a message I got scammed please do not let this happen to you. I just got nervous because they said that they were going to come to my work. Please everyone do not fall for this. Go to your local authorities like I did after the fact. My husband received a similar call. But the scam artist said he was calling from a Law Firm that does not exist. I work for a Law Firm so what this idiot was saying did not match up. These crooks do a quick google or other web sites back round check on us victims before calling very scary. My husband told him were reporting them to the authority's they have stop calling for now !! It stinks that we can only file a claim online with the Federal Trade Commissions and hope they read the complaint.... otherwise TY your post was helpful

(567) 248-4394???? Another online payday loan SCAM! I just got a telephone call at my job, from (567) 248-4394?.from a heavily accented man calling himself Hosea Brown.  He claims to represent some firm called Rogers, Smith & Associates ouf of Ohio. He would not tell me which city in Ohio he or his firm, is located in.  He claims that there?s a case pending against me, but would not give me the mailing address of his so-called company.  He continued to threaten me, but could give no information about this so-called case against me. It is probably an old online payday loan scam, where folks are now trying to use personal information from online payday loans, or applications, to scare you into paying them.  I hung up the telephone, knowing that this is a SCAM.  I will report the number and the telephone call to the Internet Crimes Unit (I-C3).

when i asked the phone i was told that a lawsuit had been filed against me and my social security # and placed on hold to speak with another guy with a heavy Indian accent who proceeded to tell me that(again) a lawsuit had been filed against me but every time i asked who was their client, he just kept saying that it was a payday loan that I never repaid, which I filed bankruptcy a few years ago and everything that i owed was placed on there, then he went on to tell me that I would be arrested at my job and that we would discuss this at the precinct(ok, whatever). Before I hung up I advised him that withholding the information that I was requesting which is who is the "client" is illegal, I have to be made aware of it in writing as far as a bill(which I never received) and since he isn't willing to tell who the client is so that I can give the info to my attorney, I hung up. People have been pulling schemes for years on the phone and internet to get you to give them personal info such as drivers licenses, credit cards, and social #. Dont fall for it
