Just received a call from this number. A guy with a THICK foreign accent (Indian, overseas Indian) named "Brian" from the law office of Baker and McKenzie. Just so happened, I was sitting with my laptop in my lap and googled the facts of his "firm".
First, I asked him where he was based out of and his response was Attica, OH. I informed him that Baker and McKenzie was based in Miami, Florida, a matter of fact 1111 Brickell Avenue..... there was a brief silence.

Second, I asked him who the founders of his "firm" were..... some more silence.

Three, I asked him if he was a lawyer, he said no; well what about a paralegal, he said yes. I then asked him for his bar association number, he said he did not have to give me that number. The next thing I heard was beep, beep, beep from where he hung up on me.

Yesterday, sounded like the same guy, called from a number out of California from a different law firm called. Both callers said that I was a "suspect" in a case that will be printed off in my county tomorrow. I don't think that if you are a "suspect" that they would "interview" you  over the phone....

Call their bluff, ask them questions about their firm, if they are a lawyer, etc. Also, ask if they are recording you, if they don't inform you at the begining of the call, they are in violation of Federal Law 18 U.S.C. §2511(2)(d). Make sure you are aware of this law and when they call back, bust them on this!

Got a call today from this guy saying his name was Daniel Rich.  He said if I didn't pay him a certain amount of money that by the end of the month he would have 3 warrants for my arrest.  I've researched this and have found this is a total scam.  He said he was with a law firm by the name of Baker & McKenzie.  Please do not give this idiot any money.  He has the India accent.  He said he couldn't take debit that it had to be a "money pack" obtained from CVS or something (which is just like getting a money order and can't be traced).

Just received phone call from this number. Didn't say a company name. Only said that it was a very important matter and that I should return the call. I've received several of these scam phone calls claiming that I have lawsuits against me for unpaid payday loans. They all have strong Indian accents, can barely speak English, and the script is the same every time. Don't fall for their bs. It's a scam!!! They're only wanting you to send them money or provide banking information. I had one about a month ago threaten to have me arrested because I wouldn't pay them. I called them back after they hung up and informed them that I was turning them over to the authorities. The man on the other end proceeded to tell me that I'd lose my job if I did that. I was never arrested and reported them to the FTC.  Don't fall victim to their scams!!!

Got another call from (567) 248-8172 today.  Claimed to be from Baker & McKenzie out of Ohio.  Funny how EVERYONE from Baker & McKenzie speaks with an Indian accent :)  They told me that some Payday Loan company was filing lawsuit against me.  I can't remember the name of the company that they gave me, but I had never even heard of them.  I called B.S.  I ended up speaking with a gentleman that tried getting hostile with me.  Laughably he told me he was my "daddy" and that I didn't know who I was messing with (because I called B.S.).  They had all of my personal info, to include my SS number (he read it to me), and that he was going to apply for a payday loan in my name!  I laughed and told him my credit score "go ahead, good luck!"  :)  I asked again where he was calling from, and asked if he was really calling from Kerala, India.  He got REAL quiet and gave me a supposed supervisor that tried hiding his accent (pretty funny actually).  Finally, I told him that I had done my research and knew their game.  He did not affirm or deny.  I calmly told him that he was wasting his time with me, cut the B.S. and take my numbers off of his list.  He SAID he would, we'll see.  THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM.  BE CAREFUL APPLYING FOR PAYDAY LOANS ONLINE, ESPECIALLY ONES THAT SEARCH SEVERAL COMPANIES AT ONCE TO GET YOU THE "BEST" DEAL.  I made this mistake and have been paying for it for months now.

Tip:  Just because they have your personal info does not mean they are legit.
Tip:  Tell them you are recording the conversation and putting it on YouTube, they hate that :) .
Tip:  Ask them "If I were to send you money, where would I have to send it to?"  Should be Ohio right?
Tip:  Ask them if they are calling from Kerela (don't say India).  They will get nervous, trust me.

I got the same phone call. They have been calling from different numbers they even managed to call me from my own personal phone number... same story they have a law suit. I informed them that a phone call was not the proper procedure to handle a law suit and that once I was served by the sheriff's office I would take them seriously. Well low and behold my co-worker came into my office scared and excited because the A-holes found the forms on the internet, filled them out and FAXED it to my job.
