Oh my!  I thought I was the only victim of these creeps!  My elderly mom in law AND my mother live with us.  M-I-L recently fell, was in hospital and rehab...I had asked for info on medical alert systems for the 2 moms in case I'm running errands.  Woah! Suddenly I get a call...from a real person...telling me the systems are ready and they need to schedule a delivery.  Hmmmm....I did not order anything yet....no thanks.
Now they call constantly.  My mom answered the phone (recording now days) and nearly accepted the deal but the free groceries threw her off.  Thanks for all the posts I want to search the craigslist idea.

I received a recorded message about them trying to deliver a fully paid for Medic Alert system along with $3,000 in food saving coupons. The guy on the recording said that it was paid for by someone who bought it for us, and that all costs were taken care of. Then he instructed me to either dial 1 to accept delivery or 3 to decline delivery. I hung up so I have no idea what would have happened after that.

I think I've replied to you before, but here's another try. They're based in Florida. Here's their craigslist hiring ad.  http://orlando.craigslist.org/sls/4249182231.html

Their phone number is listed there. To keep on them, keep searching the title of the post on craigslist Orlando, since they change their number when caught.

The guy in charge is Mike Hilgar.

Thanks to the following posts for posting the scam numbers: Ann Noid & John-of-Lower-Merion. I will follow your advice and make a NASTY PHONE LIST for my senior relations so they know not to answer these calls or just let them ring.  Sure will save me time looking them up for them and it will give them peace of mind. Thanks again for the helpful information.

Sadly, you can't.  It's too easy for them to just re-establish themselves under a new company name with new phone numbers if they do get caught---which doesn't happen often.
And sadly they prey mostly on seniors who may actually need some type of alert service and don't research the company before signing on.  Or, these services are pretty expensive, especially for a senior trying to get by on Social Security, and when these scammers offer it for free or very cheaply, many seniors sign on thinking they are getting a legitimate service.
It's shameful!

Another medical alert program scam--likely just to get your credit card or banking information to charge the 'small handling fee'.
And Hubtones, thank you so much!
You actually posted useful information!!!
Most of the time when you do a search of a suspect phone number you find 20 or 30 posts that say crap like "didn't answer", "called 10 times today", "get calls all the time but I don't answer numbers I don't recognize", "called, didn't leave message", "I'm on the do not call list", etc, etc, etc and so many other totally WORTHLESS posts that give absolutely NO useable information!  (As if we care that you are on the do not call list or didn't answer because you didn't recognize the number) .
Nobody cares about your 'do't know who called' posts people, we only come here for actual useable information----such as hubtones posted!

Got a call from this number.  None was there when I answered. Plus the call doesn't go through when I call back.

Robo call from (570) 309-3012 recorded 20 December 2013 ("Medic Alert Alarm and free $3,000 grocery certificates...") SCAM
Caller ID: "TMG Health"

also calls from:  (253) 753-9337 | (347) 200-3072 | (212) 333-2692 | (302) 298-0893 | (614) 516-0280 | (314) 666-8369 | (914) 219-0098 | (415) 375-0922 | (586) 231-3711 | (913) 279-0536 | (480) 999-5637 | (518) 292-6634

Similar to other recent calls for free Medical Alert alarm scams. Opens with an offer for free $3,000 in grocery certificates before getting to the point about a "free" medic alarm service.

Of course they ignore the Federal Do Not Call list, which certainly tells you something about their business practices, doesn't it?

Here is a transcript of the call:

<female voice>"Senior citizens, pay close attention to the following message. If you or a family member are 60 years old or older, you now qualify under the new National Senior Assistance Program to receive $3,000 in free grocery savings certificates. They can be used at over one hundred major grocery chains across the US. In addition to your $3,000 in savings certificates you will receive a free emergency medical alert bracelet or necklace. This medical alert device is designed to save your life if you ever experience a fall or any other emergency. Press 1 now to speak to a representative and have your $3,000 savings certificate mailed directly to you and learn more about the risk free offer. Again, press 1 now for more information or press 5 to be removed from this opt-in list."

# 570-309-3012 Calls several times a day, every day! Try to answer, no one is there, it just hangs up. Tried to call back, got no ring tone but stayed on the line for several minutes after dialing them back anyway. The phone line never makes a connection and finally it say all circuits are busy please try your call again later. The only reason I answer is to tell them to remove my number from their calling list! They are very annoying!!!!!! How do we stop these calls???

These are all the numbers I have for Med Alert scams as reported here or otherwise.
Most are probably robo calls and come up as Unknown Caller, which I don't answer along with pretty much any number I don't recognize as well as Private Caller. If they can't leave a message, can't be important.

Supposedly offered the equivalent of a Medic Alert.  Seems to match the fraudulent medic alert offers that are becoming all too common.
