My name is Denise and I paid Oxford Management over $1,200 to settle a debt for GMAC well Oxford did forward the settlement payment to GMAC but never sent me or GMAC a letter stating that the account was paid or settled. However, GMAC is now asking that I pay the full amount even though they cashed the checks their saying that the account was never settled. I do have proof that the account was paid but no letter, is there anything I can do? Oxford management closed its operations 2 months ago...

Got a recorded call for my wife. She's been dead for over 3-1/2 years! Jerks.

I have been a debt collector for almost 8 years, so I can and WILL help you in getting those calls to stop. I will  also go into detail as to what they can and I can not say. All I ask in return is for a little bit of traffic to my blog. If you don't believe anything I post, google the FDCPA and you will see I am indeed trying to help you. I will make my first post regarding this issue later on today sometime, it's 5am and I've been up all night. Why would I do this you ask? I believe everybody should be treated fairly, and debt collectors that are rude and ignorant make it hard for collectors like myself to make an honest, decent living.

Got a call at 5:30 am, guy asking for someone we don't know but has same last name. got into verbal confrontation with us- hung up on them and they called back to taunt us. JERKS!

Report them. Oxford Management have already been fined by the FTC for their illegal practices. Making a complaint to the FTC does work!

WASHINGTON, July 2, 2009 -- The Federal Trade Commission issued the following press release:

The operators of a debt collection company (Oxford Management) that used false threats and other unlawful tactics to collect consumers' debts have agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they violated federal law. The settlements bar future violations and require the defendants to pay $225, 000.

According to the FTC complaint, the defendants, who had about three million consumer accounts and collected debts in every state, falsely threatened that nonpayment of debt would result in garnishment of consumers' wages, arrest, or legal action.

got a missed call from this number. No voicemail.(7:30pm) I called back at 8:55pm. Goes to a voice mail " This is the Offices of Francis McBride, leave your name, number and claim number i will get back to you as soon as possible"
now if i dont have a claim # and i dont know who you are... why am i going to leave my name and number?
Very annoyed at these calls. I have submitted my number to national do not call list about a week ago so why do i get the call?

I get calls, nearly everyday for months on end at all hours. I am on the do not call registry, and I do not owe you or any other entity any bills or back payments.
If I answer the call the (probably electronic) caller just hangs up, no response. Other times I get a recording that states it is not a sales call and instructs me to press one to speak to an operator or get assistance. If I do speak to someone they state my number is not on file and I shouldnt be getting the calls. They have insisted I would be removed and get no further calls but they dont stop, just go to a "unidentified" caller ID. They are always very elusive when questioned about who they are and will hang up on me if I ask too many questions.
The return number I get isnt functional when I call it back.
I also try 1-877-2175762 ext 4296. I get a recording that asks you to leave the information and you will be removed from their lists. Still waiting.

Why take their calls?  Caller ID makes it easy to screen calls. Or else answer and then blast them with a loud whistle.  If anyone out there knows computers real well, send them a virus. It's the least those scumbags deserve. Fight fire with fire.

They call over and over again. Sometimes they leave a message sometimes they don't. They are trying to collect on a debt for my nephew who doesn't even live with me.

3:56 pm yesterday this company called me.  In a two minute forty seven second conversion, the caller offended me to the point that I swore at him and hung up.  They called again at 3:59 pm.  I answered and hung up.  They called again at 4:00 pm.  I ignored the call and they hung up quickly.  

According to an ex of mine who is a bill collector this is criminal harrasment.

At 4:09 pm, I called back to complain.  The woman who answered claimed to be a supervisor when I asked to speak to one.  By the end of that one minute forty second call, the person I had been speaking to came on the line, said, "you just opened your mouth to the wrong person," which I interpret as a threat, and hung up.

This morning, I called the main office in Melville, NY to complain about the Scranton, PA office.  The representative refused to accept a complaint regarding another call center.

I contacted the US Attorney today.

In my research, I've determined that this company, while legit on paper, is nothing more than a criminal organization which has suffered multiple allegations of extortion and fraud.  Don't trust them.  I'm waiting for a court order before I ever pay them back so I'll have the best paper trail in the world to prove they've been paid.

this caller is caling my cell number.no voice or messages left,has anyone stop them yet! i have complaint to the do not call list aabout five time already but know luck yet!

I HAVE BEEN GETTING CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER FOR SEVERAL DAYS NOW.  ALL DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY AND EVENING.  WHAT DO THEY WANT?  I DO NOT ANSWER MY PHONE UNLESS I KNOW WHO IT IS.

I'm recieving many calls a day from this company and they hang up and when I call back, it rings and rings

They are calling my daughters cell phone number looking for me. I dont know what they want but keep calling her over and over.

I've received a few calls from this number in the past week. They don't leave a message. Strikes me as very suspicious!

Don't be so stupid.  Collection agencies use dialer systems of course it will be a different number and if you call that number back it goes to a computer.  So if you don't know what you are talking about its best you font talk at all.

By law the collector need to verify the last 4 digits of the social security number or date of birth to ensure they are speaking to the correct person and not releasing any personal information to anyone other than you.  All the information is on the account when it is sent over from the client in which they are collecting the debt for.  So no it is not strange it is the LAW.  So before you have something bad to say about a company maybe you should know all the laws and what they are required to do by law.  Get your facts straight first.

No the information that the gentleman you spoke with was sent over on that account from the client in which he was collecting the debt for.  They ate required by law to verify the last 4 digits of the ssn. So the information that was sent are the ones who made the error.

Unwanted Called

THREE YEARS AGO, SOMEONE STARTED CALLING ME ASKING THAT SUSAN
       ERICKSON CALL A NUMBER BECAUSE THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY.  OF COURSE,
       THIS WAS A RECORDING.  I HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUSAN ERICKSON.  AFTER
       MUCH HARRASSMENT, I TOOK IT TO THE POLICE AND THEY CALLED THE NUMBER
       AND IT WAS A TELEMARKETER AT THAT TIME.

       TWO YEARS AGO, ABOUT THIS TIME OF YEAR, THEY CALLED AGAIN, OVER AND
       OVER FOR SUSAN ERICKSON.  FINALLY, I GOT A HUMAN ON ONE, AND THEY SAID
       THAT SHE HAD GIVEN MY NUMBER.  NOW, TODAY I GOT ANOTHER ONE WHO SAID
       "I THINK YOU'RE SUSAN ERICKSON, AND YOU BETTER PAY YOUR BILLS," AND HUNG
       UP.

This company asked me for my birthdate.  I said that I don't give out that kind of information.  They said that they are a business and have my social and address and just need my birthday to verify that they have the right person.  The phishing comment above sounds so true.  They wouuld not tell what it is about but we have no outstanding bills at all.  I HAVE BLOCKED THEIR FUTURE CALLS.

I get alot of calls from lazy collectors who call everyone with the same first initial and the last name.

Be very very aware of this company.
