I have people calling me, for a person with the same name, who used to live in my town, now they google the guy's name and my info comes up, and once you square it with one of these scum bags, they sell it to another, and it just goes on and on.  I not only get phone calls for this guy, I also receive his bills in the mail, to include his child support invoices, collection agencies, and even correspondence from the IRS.  However, its the phone calls that bother me the most, they call at all hours of the day and night.

I have found the answer to all these annoying calls, it's called the Call Blocker, and it works great. I was looking for the solution to these phone calls, for years, and this is the best solution I have found yet. I bought mine on ebay, and it works like a champ.

Here is a link with the description for the Call Blocker.

No, I don't sell them, or have any affiliation with them; I just know this thing works.

I also have gotten calls from this number. It maybe connected to several other numbers as follows: 1-757-296-0105, 757-296-0116, 757-204-6330, 757-296-0106, 571-482-4733 these numbers go on. I have over 20 numbers on my cell phone from companies that claim to have a legal notice they need to talk to me about. I haven't determined if they are connected to the Bay Area Credit Services debt collection scams with numbers such as 800-454-2227, 860-556-4459, etc. Some call saying that they are collecting on behalf of AT&T and ask to speak to you by name. These all may be connected to each other in some way. I'm not for sure. I have been getting calls like these since November 2012.

Transcript of call:

"This is David Wells. Please call my office regarding a legally required notice. My office intends to send you this notice about a file we have."

As someone who has received plenty of ACTUAL collections calls, this one definitely sticks out as phony. Glad you all agree.

I have received calls from 3 or 4 different numbers, including from my own area code, from David Wells, Amber Knight and Ashley.  They have called both my home number and my cell.  Same recorded message regarding legal notices that they want to send to me.  Have not called back but the calls are coming in now all day long to the point where they fill the messages on my cell.....This is getting really old

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Amber Knight called three days in a row; same message first two times then switched it up saying this wasn't a solicitation. Then two days later David Wells called twice; same message both times. Now two new names to add to the list. Ashley Butler and Mrs. Harris. Claiming to have preliminary paperwork and needing a statement or needing to get current address for legal required notice. As stated above no company name or who they were looking for in the messages.

Same thing here. Recorded call from a DAVID WELLS (come on seriously are we that stupid) about "LEGAL DOCUMENTS". No Company name no verification on who they are or the true reason behind there call. A debt colector a court official or even an attorney have to fully disclose why they are contacting you rquesting your information. This is a scam make sure you report them.

They leave a message which states,

"This is David Wells. I am calling regarding a legally required notice. Please call my office so I am able to verify I have  your correct address. I can be reached at 571-482-4733. Again that is 571-482-4733."

They do not state what company they are calling on behalf... this is clearly a SCAM. I will forward this information to my local media and State Attorney Generals office. I will NOT call them back. They are THUGS and must be stopped.

I have also gotten a few of these calls myself.  I have also recieved several from a David Wells at this number and 757-296-0116 as well as someone saying that he's calling from a Mr. Van Cleef, an attorneys office stating that he needs to have me call him back and give him my address so that he can send me some legal documents.  It's a scam.  Do not respond to these calls.  If they continue I will report them to the Fraud Division of my local Police Department and to the Trouble Shooting TV Reporters in my area.

Fancy meeting you here .... and yikes! You may get your day in court after all. Once you confirm the call source you can drop a cease-comm on their heads and set them up for either a TCPA or FDCPA claim for disobedience.

I had a buch of these calls as well in my call logs. All calls come in BEFORE 6 am.
I believe this is a number to CKS financial, as the number is almost identical to one in another thread here. It is just the last digit is different so I am thinking this is another extension. The calls from their other number all came in before 6 am as well. I have reported all of them.
