I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING THESE SAME CALLS AT MY WORK--BY A MICHAEL BROWN!!---HE HAS THREATENED MY CO-WORKERS AND HAS BEEN CALLING AND HARASSING ME SINCE 5/2011. i DID NOT RECEIVE ANY LOANS FROM THIS CASH ADVANCE PLACE HE CLAIMS AND HE HAS STATED THAT I WILL LOSE MY JOB, GO TO JAIL-THE WHOLE NINE YARDS!! THIS MAN IS PSYCHOTIC AND IT IS A COMPLETE SCAM!  MY EMPLOYER HAS CALLED THE PHONE COMPANY AND HAS FILED A COMPLIANT AS WELL AS FILING A POLICE REPORT. IF THIS IS LEGIT, THIS A-HOLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAIL SOMETHING IN WRITING ON THE DEBT. A TRUE COLLECTION AGENCY WILL NOT HARRASS NOR THREATEN JAIL!!

They keep calling me at work saying that I got a loan for 545 then today he said 340. I have never borrowed money. Said his name was Michael brown.

how can i get these peope to stop calling me and calling my job harrssing the operator and me

The voicemail mentioned Cannon Local, which sounded like a union.

I got a call from unknown said a lawsuit was being filed against me.  The second voicemail they left included this phone #.  I call the number someone answered not sam but some other brown, not able to pronounce my English name.  He said I had taken a loan from Cash Advance or someone like that and that I owed 400+ dollars. I said I had not and stated not to call me anymore, he started yelling and intimidation, I said I would be contacting the highway patrol and police.  I then hung up.  He immidiately called back.  I muted and listened and he finally hung up.

I have gotten 9 calls from 585-200-5553 on my cell phone today,  They left messages and I did not call back.  It showed up unknown on my phone, but they left the number on the messages.  I accidentally answered it once and the guy said he had an important legal matter and could I hold.  I then hung up and he called back about 4 more times, I did not answer.  Then he started calling my job.  They called once this morning and then started again about 5pm.  I kept telling them not to call my work and hanging up, but they kept calling back.  I asked them what it was about and they said I owed money to cash advance.  I told them I do not owe any money to any cash advance place and then the guy started spouting off my checking account number, routing number and my social security number.  I asked for their phone number and address and they gave me 29 Lowe Copland Hill Road, Fuera, New York 12067 and the number listed above.  I told them I was going to file a harrassment suit and they finally quit calling.  I don't know if they will call again or not, but I am about to call my local police and see what can be done.  I'm worried about them knowing my personal information.---The first guy said his name was Tom Brown. Then it was David Cruise, then Steve Anderson--there is no way anyone who sounded like them had any of these names and they did sound like the same person, after I thought about it. I could barely understand them, definitely foreign or at least that is what they wanted me to think.

They are claiming I owe money due to a payday loan that I have never taken!! They were able to verfiy my bank routing AND checking account number along with my social security number. I'm extremely nervous about this!! They say if I don't call back by 5pm and pay them I will go to jail! My credit is perfect and I'm very nervous about them having my social security number AND banking information!

i got this strange call  saying i owed money to pay day loan company.  But online pay day loans are paid back automaticlly in full or installments   i think these people are bogus  585-200-5553

I've been getting calls from this number at my work  as well as home.  Both times his name is Sam Brown.  He stated that I need to pay them $350 for a loan I took from Cash advance Today, which I never took. They were quite persistent to say that I did agree to this loan and owe them money.  I never received a loan from any where and do not know how they got this information.  I am reporting this as a scam and hope these calls do not persist, nor is there any action taken on me for something I never did!

I got a few calls from this number.  As stated above by others, foreign accent, claiming call now, issues against you and your SSN.  Call now or investigators coming & you will go to jail.  So before calling I google the phone number they said to call & the other one they called from (646-558-2014) and found this site & others talking about it,

So I figured I would play the game and call them back,  A man answered (same voice as in the message) I asked for Gavin Butler & he said hold on.  Same man got back on the phone saying Butler was not available but he would help me.  He basically claimed I took out a cash advance (which I never did, looked into one but refused to pay the rip off fee's and told them NO!) and that I owed $785 on a $300 loan that I never got.  He did know the last 4 digits of my SSN and the name of the bank I dealt with (kinda a scary).  Any way he said pay the money now or he would call the Sheriffs office.  So asked him who claims I owe the money.  He says the Cash Advance company, but doesn't know who that is or how to contact them to get proof of their fake claim.

He claimed I have until 5 pm to pay or he would have me arrested. I told him that is fine that I would be calling the Secret Service and FBI to file a report for identity theft & he hung up.

Now if you are legit company 1) you don't leave the kind of message they leave. 2) You don't hang up when someone you are trying to scam offers to call the cops for you since that was his threat if I did not pay at that moment..

Basically sounds like a pure scam to me,  Oh and I checked my bank account going back 12 months - no deposit from anyone other than my boss! So again they are crazy.


Be careful, do not offer your personal information,  make them provide it to you and then call the cops and file a claim against them,

I Got a Call from and Unknown number yesterday from a Sam Brown , he sounded like he was from a different country , and said if I didn't return the call that the police was going to show up at my door. and that it was a credit consolidation company..and I had something against my ssn. Instead of getting mad about this I think I am going to keep letting theses people call and Have some fun with this hahah !! >:) and he told me to call him back at 585-200-5553

6/17/11 -Received a call on my cell phone,(which is only for private friends, family) that showed 'Unknown' caller.  When I picked up, a man with a very heavy accent that I could not discern, stated a name that I could not clearly hear, but he asked for a (badly mispronounced) version of my friend's name and asked if that if I knew this person. I asked who he was, and he repeated the unusual name (never did catch it) and went on a with a long long bunch of nonsense that included phrases such as seriious matter, social security number, investigations. I then asked him where he was. He said California, but when I asked him where in California, he said " What? You don't know?" so that's when I hung up on him.
He called 3 more times, and then left me a voicemail: In it, he called himself by a different name: "This is Officer Gary Butler in the Dept of Finance and Investigations. I'm calling you because  (mumbled some things) ... an investigation of a serious matter regarding your SSN, and since I am not responding...(some more mumbling).  "We will send out our investigators to your address. Be prepared to get arrested. And I will make sure you are fired from your job. Be prepared to get arrested and spend the rest of your life behind the bars. (sic) (more mumbling) "If you don't want (??) then call this number, 585-200-5553, I repeat 585-200-5553.  If you do not call back ..."  (and at this point, his script monitor must have misfired, because he suddenly trailed off, and hung up without finishing his final threat.)  
I have blocked calls from that given number, but don't think that was the number they were calling out from. Thanks for this forum.  
Now how can we stop these scammers??

I have been receiving messages form this number and the man with the accent said his name was sgt gary butler and that i need to return his call or i would go to jail. Well today he called me at my job and ask me to take a few minutes to talk him regarding a legal matter against me and my ssn. He proceeded to ask me to verify my persoan infor. and when I stated to him that he called me and if this was ligitimate he should have all of my info he then ask if I was refusing to cooperate. I then stated to him that I would be contacting my local police department and give them his number and he could explain everything to them he hung. Before I actually spoke to him he had called my house about 10times a day for the past 3 days. I have not heard from him since our last conversation....lol

I received a call this morning from what may have been an African male judging by the accent.  He asked me if I knew (and gave me the name of one of my friends).  I said yes and he said that there are internet fraud charges against my friend and to have him call "Officer Gary Butler" at 585-200-5553.  It triggered a red flag because "Officer Gary Butler" is an awfully American name for someone with his accent.

I been getting calls from this number saying that there are charges being pressed about me regarding a loan that I never even took. A week ago they asked for $298.00 and then today he asks for $350.00. Now if I would have taken out a loan, it woulda been more than 200 or 300 dollars. First the guy said his name was Victor Johnson, then Micheal Brown, but when I called back, some guy said that there was no one there by that name. He keeps telling me that if I dont resolve this matter then I would go to jail.
