Debt Collector
The human resources department of my company received a call from this number and left my personal information on a voicemail which is totally unprofessional. I've also received a call directly to my office from the same number with threats of fraud charges and being taken to court. Not sure what they're talking about but hopefully someone will catch up to them and put a stop to their fraudulent and illegal phone calls.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I get the call every couple weeks.  They threaten that if I don't call them immediately legal action will ensue.
Once I was on the phone with them and they told me that if I didn't schedule a payment, time would "run out"

This was over a YEAR ago (and no court officer has tried to serve me yet).

I recognized the payday loan company but their dates were off.  I won't pay this collection group one dime because of the ridiculous threats and scare tactics.  If it's legit, they can just send me a notice and I'll find a way to settle.

Debt Collector
Received numerous calls from "Madison Maddox," claiming that she is from CheckSystems (note that they set up the name to be confused with Chex Sysytems!) and I have a collection account for a bank that I must pay within 24 hours or they will have a suit filed against me for fraud? I asked for a statement to show the debt, but was talked over by this rude person who then gave me a "supervisor." This guy, whoever he is, also was quite rude and told me they WOULD NOT send any documents to support this debt, that he's tired of my stall tactics(?) and that he is really frustrated from continuing to deal with me (this was our very first call, btw?lol). I told him we had never spoken before, so perhaps he should take a break, smoke a cig, and get back to me on that proof of debt. He then said he would email me a statement so I gave him my email address?. The "statement" merely said exactly what I was told on the phone - XXX Bank is owed $XXX -- I don't think so. I called back twice after receiving several more calls, each stating I had 24 hours before having this lawsuit filed, and tried asking for a mailing address. Both "Madison" and her "supervisor" not only WOULD NOT give me an address to mail a letter, but also got rude, talked over me loudly and hung up on me.

Upon further research, Chex Systems confirmed that THEY show no debts for me with this bank and are mailing a report for my records. I found a separate telephone number for Check Systems, and a mailing address, as they have maaaaany complaints online similar to mine AND a recent lawsuit which they lost. Click the link below to learn more about all of this?. Seems like they are continuing bad habits.

DO NOT give them your bank account or credit/debit card information! They're frauds who try to intimidate people who do not know any better.

COMPLAINT IS BEING FILED, Madison. :)

Got a call from them today saying they were going to hold on taxes because of an unpaid load that I owe in the amount $508 from a few years ago.  I have only had one loan and it was paid in full.  These people are crazy

Prank Call
A Mrs. Crawford has called my cell phone and my work.  I ignored the calls as she never said where she was calling from and what for.  Two days go, she leaves a message on the general mailbox at my company asking to speak my supervisor.  He gets the message calls her back and she asks him to have me call regarding an affidavit.  I call back, as she has now cause an issue at work.  We play phone tag for 2 days and finally connect.  She tells me that I owe money from a $500 payday loan that I took out 2 years ago.  (I do not.)  And if I give her my debit card information right now she'll lower the amount due to $300.  (If I had a payday loan 2 years ago for $500 and did not pay on it, I would owe in the thousands now.)  I then ask he to mail my a letter of validation, per FTC regulations, and this is where she got nasty.  Told me she will not mail me a thing, said she was calling my employer and hung up.  I called back, said who I was and she hung up again.  The 3rd and final time I called I spoke to a man (didn't get his name).  He gave me the same run down she did and when I asked him for validation, said that they mailed it to me 11 days ago and if I didn't feel that I owed the money, that I could just pay the $300 now, then I'd receive a letter and could dispute it then.  I, of course, refused and he said he'd call my employer.  I said you already did.  He hung up.
All of that to say DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE A DIME!  They are not legit and are using scare tactics to get your hard earned money.
