The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

I've been called 3 times in the last two hours by this number (585-637-0915), 718-783-8996, and 607-733-1419.  1st call discussed my computer being infected and that he was from Microsoft.  Kept saying "Hold on please" -- after 5 minutes of that, I hung up.  Then he calls back and asked "Why I hang up?"

Guy just called from this number, said he was from IUB (the college?) and that he had repaired my computer a few months back.  I was having difficulty even understanding that much (very thick Indian accent) and he hung up thereafter.  He never got to a point where he asked about my code, but it still seemed very shady.   He had my name and old address, which is a bit disconcerting.

Got a call from this number this afternoon about 3:30 CT. Caller spoke with a thick Middle Eastern accent. Claimed he was calling from Microsoft and was following up on error reports my computer was sending to them. I played along for about 15 minutes while he had me looking at error logs (they had nothing substantial in them), then tried to convince me he was legit by wanting to confirm my software license code. He had me run a command that listed a bunch of text, then read off a "code" that proved he was getting messages from my machine (what he really read was a code that ALL Windows machines have). Finally, he asked me to access a website where one of his "technicians" could log into my PC remotely and help me fix the problem. I'd had about enough by then, gave him an earful about how the site had nothing to do with Microsoft, I wasn't convinced he was with MS and that I wasn't interested in remote support. He got defensive and tried to reassure me it wasn't a scam and that all their conversations are recorded. Really? Gee, he never mentioned recordings at the beginning of the call (as it's required by law). He then offered to end the call, but I beat him to it.

Prank Call
Got a call today from a man with an East Indian accent who said his name was "Brad Johnson".  Too funny.  Started talking about Windows and I told him I was on the "do not call list" and he said "so what?".  Then I told him off--too funny because I'm not even a Windows user.  Next time I will have an "ear piercing" response.

I've got a call from this number claiming they are from Windows Technician department. They called saying that there have been a report on their end that a virus have disrupted the Windows security software. They claim they are trying to help me by guiding me through steps to confirm the valid license security software is no longer running. They also made me open up Event Viewer "prove" it to me. The purpose of their call was to help resolve the issue of the virus was to renew my security software through their end; rather than through Microsoft. They claim a 2 year renewal charge would be $235 and lifetime renewal would be $480. Obviously, I knew this was a scam because Microsoft would never call you. They were very persistent but it was pretty obvious how the call sounded like the woman on the phone was talking and some guy grabbed the phone from her. As soon as they mentioned a renewal fee, it's pretty obvious they're a scam. Why can't you renew your security license through Microsoft? The whole entire call sounded very urgent and it sounded like they were pressuring me to buy it right on the spot. I told them that I feel like they are forcing me to make a decision right away and after the woman on the phone defended herself stating that she haven't asked for any of my information or used remote service for me to accuse her of forcing me, the call got cut off. Be aware of this number (585-637-0915). They also have an Indian accent. If anyone call you with a similar story, ask as many questions as possible, don't follow their instructions to do anything on your computer. Ask for a call back number and their name.

Alex, from India, calling from computer support (yeah right). Tried something new. Told him I don't have a computer because they are evil, full of pornography, scams. He said, he never knew that, then I really threw him a curve ball and ended with conversation with "As-Salam Alaikum".

Scammer trying to convince me that he was from "Windows" (not from "Microsoft"), and he claimed that there is a computer-virus on my computer.  To "prove" it, he got me to open the Windows "Event Viewer", and scrolled-through errors.  He said that he could "fix" it, if I downloaded some software, ran it, and then entered a 4-digit code to connect to his computer.  WHOA!  Such "Remote Administration" software would allow him to take _FULL_ control of my computer, i.e., delete files, copy any personal information (bank statements, credit-card numbers, tax-returns) onto his system.

Scammer!
