I don"t know I got one to, it was wired,no name just to call them .I pretty much got the same message you did.I know I'm in no debt or owe anyone .I have no idea why they are calling ,I'm not going to worry about it though after doing a little home work I know that some way they were able to get their hands on some info and now they are trying to use it to their advantage.I will check with the creditors just to find out what is actually going on...

We have received a very similar phone call from someone claiming to be from Check Security Associates. They have also called a family member trying to find us. They told me a lot of info that I didn't think anyone knew plus they knew my social and what make and model my car was. Should I be worried?

You're very welcome Alex. You should also be aware that Check Systems is a fraud-shop based in western NY. They've been bottom-dwelling for years. They like to spoof numbers, make threats & generally make complete a***s of themselves. It wouldn't surprise me if they're outsourcing to India now either. They've been under such intense scrutiny for so long that they consider it normal. They're absolutely NOTHING! Treat them as such!
Live Well.

Yes! 100% sure.. Another red flag, just ask them for their real legal address and Legal business name! You can verify those via google maps.  No, PO box's in a UPS or Fedex store doesn't do it!

Yep, we're sure it's a scam. Need proof? Just DEMAND a notice of validation be sent to you by MAIL. NOT e-mail or fax. As per federal regulation under the FDCPA. When they refuse, or start with BS, bluster or excuses....case closed! They're FRAUDS!
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Recieved a call from 888-546-8853 or should I say a voice mail, they called the company "Check Security Association" and were needing a statement for their pre-legal department regarding fraud that "supposedly" I'm involved in  . They included a case # and ended the message as consider this as official notice of my non-compliance.
I am really annoyed by these calls because obviously they are scams. Any way to get these people to stop calling?

They also use the number 888-546-8853 - They left a message stating that they were going to have papers delivered to my address and if I was not available to sign for them, they would pick a random day and time and I have 'been notified' - would not address what the debt was for or who they were representing, other than saying they were from Check Security.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Debt Collector
I received a call from a Mr. Dupace. He said that my sister owed money from PayDay Advance, and she put my name on the application as a reference. He also said that I would be subpoenaed to a Federal Court, because of her failure to pay this debt. Earlier, he said that my sister kept on insisting that his company do not involve me, in this matter.

When my mom picked up the phone, he told her that he was a Deputy Sheriff from Texas. This man definitely has to be STOPPED>

I am getting calls from them due to a former friend that used my information as a reference when she used a check cashing company- I have been getting calls for over 3 years from different companies and none of them have anything to do with me. A few have stopped after the attny general's office told me to ask for their address so a cease and desist order can be sent...try it-took a bit but I got the people from India to stop calling and some other companies, now this one is the latest.

I've been called twice from 585-730-6156. One party says they're calling from Texas. Another calling party said they're calling from New York.
