This place has called at least twice a week for the past three months. I have told them not to call me anymore the last two times. Today they called again and when I told the guy i had told them not to call me anymore he said i hadn't told him and got mad at me for telling him not to call again. They always ask to speak to my husband. It is for a supposedly police dept fundraising or something on that order. It is not a truthful statement at all for us since my husband retired from working for the ny state police and it is not from the state police and we have no local police. We are on the do not call list and the phone company says it will cost me $2.99 a month to stop them from calling me. I don't want to waste $36 a year to stop them.

The DNC List works as it was intended to work. Legitimate businesses do not call the people on it. Illegitimate businesses don't care whether or not you're on it. They are thieves. Why would you expect thieves to honor it? Seriously!

If one lives in that county, one might consider donating. I live way upstate, and why would I donate to the police in downstate Westchester county? Unless it was a natural disaster, I wouldn't. These people are idiots, and if they didn't catch people off guard or get elderly people who don't actually understand what the weasels are up to, they would never get anything. No money and no financial info. Do not answer these calls. Ever.

After getting these calls last winter, I called the State Police who referred me to a State Police detective who deals with this type of fraud. I don't know what he did, but I haven't heard from them since March of 2013. That is, until today 9/27/13.

This number called my residential home and did not say anything when I picked up. Looked up this number on the web and sees this is a scam number. Why am I not surprised. I signed up for the Do Not Call Registry recently, hoping that it'll help. Once I am officially on the registry, I will submit a complaint every time a get these calls.

They claim that they do not have to abide by the Do Not Call Registry because they are a legitimate charity collecting money for the PBA of Westchester County. There should be rules that are actually enforced against this sort of harassment within your own home. The laws do not protect us from being assailed within our own homes against people trying to steal our money. Even if it is a legitimate charity, which I do not believe, they have no right to continually call my home.

If this phone # calls you, please contact your district office of the NYS Attorney Generals office. Be sure to put a complaint on file by filling out their paperwork. Do this state and country some justice and take 5 minutes to do your part in shutting them down. That is all.

This number has been calling me for two weeks now. Usually at random hours. I never pick up. I called it back once to hear it. It is the same people you guys are talking about. The calls are starting to piss me off. I do not own a business and they are calling my personal cell number. I am thinking of contacting Verizon and have the number blocked. You can block 5 regular numbers and 5 other telemarketer etc. numbers. I bemejve they still have that. Hopefully the calls will stop.

I got one of these too. He's probably a professional fundraiser hired by a sketchy Chiefs of Police organization. I looked at some of the tax returns for these "Chiefs of Police" organizations (on the NY Attorney General's Charities Bureau website). These fundraisers typically get paid about 90 cents on every dollar you donate. Not a bad commission. Charities are exempt from the DoNotCall law so these folks can still get to you. If you want to donate to a legitimate police charity, go to the PAL or PBA website.

A fairly pleasant fellow called my business number and asked to speak to the owner. It appears to be a Batavia NY number. He claimed to be raising funds for some police organization I haven't heard of (he was not from PAL or PBA). When I challenged him, he claimed to be representing a legitimate charity registered with the State. We are too. Even if I asked for the EIN he could have given me someone else's. Most likely he would have just hung up.
If he was legitimate, know that many police and fireman charities are notoriously inefficient and a very large percentage -- between 40% and as much as 90% -- goes to the telemarketers who raise funds for them. Never donate to charities over the phone. If you want to support a legitimate charity, donate on their website.
Registered charities (and their professional fundraisers), political organizations, and surveys are exempt from the DoNotCall law.

I am on the National Do Not Call Registry. This number called my business and asked for the owner. They refused to identify themselves, made a rude and misleading comment, then hung up.

Got a call from them today- delay between my picking up the phone and their answer, which is always a clue that it's a sales/solicitation call. Man didn't identify himself, asked for the owner of the store. I asked who it was and explained that my store was quite busy and he said, " Ma'am, you don;'t have to be rude, we'll just go somewhere else." This made it seem like it wsas a customer, when in fact it was a scammer.
