This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

I also recived a call from this company calling themselves "Legal Services". The man I spoke with would not identify himself and would not tell me what government agency he was apparently with. He did state that they have issues a feloby warrant against me and that I would be serving 90 days in jail. He was extremely rud and absoultey impossible to communicate with.

She said that they have received numerous complaints about this company. She would not give me information about what they were going to do.

She did state that they are not with any federal agency and have no jurisdiction or right to issue any form of a warrant.

I suggest that you call you phone company and have this person's number blocked. That's what I did.

Just received a call today from a man named Steve Johnson claiming that I owed $589 for a fraudulent check written to a payday loan place and if it wasnt paid by 2:00pm there would be a fellony warrent.for my arrest. I started asking him questions because I didnt know what he was talking about and he began calling me a f@#king little girl and a f@#king genius, continued saying that I just go around writing bad checks and frauding the state of florida, and said something to the extent of "hope you enjoy having your a** stuffed into the back of a suddan".

Just received a call today from James Black claiming to be a debt collector and that I would go to jail for 90 days if I didn't pay my debt I called the FBI and they said its a SCAM! Do not be fooled.

acting like some law officer on an old payday loan claim saying i would go to jail for check fraud and that i would be serving 90 days in jail, no chance in paying this back ... "walked" out of the payday loan place with over $1,000+ ... people are scammers and looking to get quick money!
