Remove this unwanted person from my distribution.

I got a text from this number.  Don't respond it's just a scheme.

You're correct in how to respond to it, by not responding at all, but you should report it to your cell phone provider.  It sounds like its phishing for active numbers, and unfortunately many of the folks who may own prepaid cell phones if they respond to this type of a text it shows that their number is a good number, and many folks don't realize that the last four digits of their cell phone number in the instance that it's a prepaid number may actually be the password that accesses your account.  Most of these prepaid cell phones have a person's name as PIB meaning Phone In Box, as in prepaid phone in box.  Answering such a text, and not changing your password since getting line activated can easily lead to account hijacking and stealing your minutes.  Because, this spammer can easily contact your carrier use the last four of your phone number if you're prepaid and do an ESN swap to their device.  Thus, that's how if your minutes are on a prepaid plan you can kiss them goodbye if you are holding a default password to the account which is the last four digits of your cell phone number.

I received a strange text from this number (586) 690-6297 and it comes up as a landline according to www.411.com out of Mt. Clemens, Michigan.  The text came in at 6:05 p.m. saying:  "Hola (my first name)...."
I replied:  "Who is this?"  The response I got was:  "Lol if you wanna know who this is u got to addd me on yahoo msnger, my name is txtflirter311"  I replied: "No, I am not playing that game, because I can just as easily block this number."  Then I performed the search online through 411.com and I added, "Shows this number as being out of Mount Clemens, MI.  I don't know anyone in Michigan.  You must have the wrong person."  Then the last message I sent was, "Well, since I do not know you and you are not identifying yourself.  I am in my account right now and I am blocking this number."

I had the same thing happen today!

Me "I dont have yahoo msgr sorry"

I got a text from the same person/number today

Yep, a bunch of friends on Facebook have been getting these.

If you have your privacy settings in Facebook set to allow people to find you, there are two ways: By your name or by your phone number. You can't turn one off without the other. So spammers like this can find out your name from your phone number using Facebook (by trying many numbers sequentially), then they text the number they tried.

If you receive this text, do not respond.

This is somehow originating from Facebook.  How did they get my cell number and coordinate with my Facebook alias?

Text that says "hello (first name)?"

Response: "Who is this?"

Reply: "Lol if you wanna know who this is u got to add me on yahoo msger. my name is txtflirt90"
