I received a call at home last night saying my Federal Credit Union card had been deactivated because they feared it was accessed by a third party. I listened to the message twice because it caught me off guard. I did not get the number. Today I got the same call on my cell phone with the same automated response when I answered. I then realized that I had the ability to look up the number and found this sire. It is extremely frustrating to be harrassed in this way. I am not a member of any credit union, so I know it cannot be a worthwhile call. My first thought was that someone had given out my information when applying for a card, but it appears that it is a more widespread problem...

i received a call from this sketchy number on saturday Feb. 7, 2009 around 10pm on my cell phone saying my card had been compromised and put on a hold. i just got off the phone with my bank and they said nothing was wrong with my account. luckily i googled the number and found this thread. big hoax, glad i'm not alone and didn't get sucked in.

My husband got this call on his cell phone. A recorded message said something like, "This is FNB. we have reason to believe your FNB Visa card has been accessed by a third party. Press 1 to be connected to our security department." He hung up because he had heard on the Nashville news this morning that this scam was going around in our area.

I am located in middle Tennessee and just received the same recorded call from this number on my cellular phone number which said my card had been improperly accessed then asked me to press 1 to connect to their security dept. and it is no doubt a scam. I directly hung up. None of my personal finance entities have information that contains my cell phone number.
I'm sure this scam is using an "autodialer" of some sort.
The number when recalled is non-functioning and was at one time registered to the following;
International Fabrication Specialists
5609 W Latham St
Phoenix, AZ 85043
(602) 344-3450
Please do not give any information regarding your credit or personal account info over the phone.
I am following up on this and intend to contact the proper authorities and the media.

do you have the message recorded?
| mcd 2009-01-24 04:58:05 Unknown |
I answered the call from 602-344-3450 and received a pre-recorded message for a three step process to find out why a credit card hard been frozen because of thrid party usage. The message asked me to enter my account number. At that point I hung up. I think this a total scam. I reported it to my other credit companies, and got someone trying to sell protection. I then went to the FTC website to report the complaint. No luck! The complaint form was not available. I called, but it was after hours. I called the FBI and was referred to the FTC. Run around and find yourself at square one.
