It's for real. It's a nationwide consumer protection firm. Just hired a local attorney to go after one of these businesses. Theyviolated the FDCPA several times over a 2 month period including threatening garnishment of someone that is not responsible for the debt.

They most certainly are legit!
I have a lawyer through them that has quite sucessfully handled one of those bogus debt collector's already! And now am working with them on at least four more. Those slamming them (them, meaning who called with this #) are probably more likely then not to have some connection with those criminal debt collectors and their calls! I wouldn't at all be surprized if that were the case! Those lowlife debt collector's are more like spoiled little children who, when they don't get their way, throw a tantrum! They have a nasty tendency to call anybody and everybody (including kids on cell phones, seniors on social security)... not to mention repeatedly violating the FDCPA and FCRA laws right and left.
That's why lawyers connected with this number exist! To stop these greedy, immature slimeballs from preying on innocent people!
The debt collectors that make such calls are the type who call about both SOL (statute of limitations) debts that have expired or debts that don't even exist. They are what's known as JUNK debt collectors.
And without someone to stand on our behalf ... who knows what would happen!!! Thus, this number is for a legit business/law firm!!!

This is a real number from a lawyer. No one needs to freak out here. If they call you, answer. Most likely because you contacted them at one point

They are legitimate attorneys who are trying to help consumers out in dealing with debt collectors. People should not generalize. I know of debt collectors who harass people who have already paid the debt! They keep coming after them because they know most people will not complain, they will just pay to get them off their back. I know of cases where the debtor has won because the debt collector violated their rights and the Federal Fair Credit Practices law, Section 1692 by going after people who debts were either already paid or are no longer valid. They are desperate for money nowadays and they know most people do not know the law. There are legitimate claims and there are false claims. If you owe, try to make payment arrangements. If you don't, fight like hell!

This is a law firm. In my case I had requested to know whether or not I might have a case in a lawsuit.
They had helped me before very nicely.
Your situation of course, may be different.

NO TORO, APPARENTLY YOU DONT GET IT. NOT ONLY FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA, CFPA, YOUR STATE LAWS AND LOCAL LAWS.
THEN YOU HAVE WILL HAVE FRIVOLOUS CLAIMS BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE TOO INCOMPETENT TO PAY THEIR BILLS AND ARE LOOKING FOR THE EASY WAY OUT. WELCOME TO AMERICA!
| Toro 2011-08-16 17:35:27 Unknown |
Follow the FDCPA and YOU won't have to worry about being sued!
Got it?
| KING COLLECT 2011-08-16 17:29:45 Telemarketer |
PAY YOUR BILLS, QUIT LOOKING FOR AN EASY WAY OUT. WE DONT VIOLATE WE RECORD ALL CALLS, WE ENCOURAGE AND WILL ENTERTAIN ALL LAWSUITS, HOWEVER KEEP IN MIND WE WILL COUNTER-SUE FOR WASTING TIME.

Not a creditor - if you filled out a form to get legal help to fight back against a creditor, they get the info. If you want to sue under the Fair Credit Act, that is why they are calling.

Tammy, You are very wrong about these people. They are my lawyers and currently are working on my 7 cases of illegal collection methods on the phone (robo calls). And 2 of these cases have turned into class action lawsuits. Their name is Weisberg & Meyers, LLC. Craig Ehrlich is one of the head attorneys. Their address is 5025 N. Central Ave Suite #602, Phoenix, AZ 85012. 602-388-8847 ext. 250.
Before you go criticizing people, you should do a little research. These attorneys belong to a larger national company called Attorney's For Consumers. Believe me, they are so big they don't need to toot their own horn. They are definitely one of the good guys trying to help us little guys.
My name is Cheryl, I'm a 66 year old grandmother and I live in Georgia. I don't have anything to gain by giving you this information. These are people that don't deserve what you said.
Thanks Tammy and I hope this helps you see that not all lawyers are jerks.

They have lawyers that are licensed to practice in most of the states. Call them back. They are for real.
