This is a legit caller for a medical billing collections agency responsible for hospitals including the Thunderbird Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ.

My call was from someone who was either sick or a smoker.  Said the name was Lauren Ray with Bureau of Medical Economics Collection Agency. The number that showed up on the my caller id screen was 602 (with nothing after it).  Her message said if this is not (gave my name) then call 602-251-2384 to be removed otherwise call 602-417-2810 if I am (gave my name). I find it fishy!

Shortly after noon today I received a call from a 602 number. The rest of the number was blocked, and I only answered because I thought it was my insurance company calling back... Anyways, her name was Miss Meyers, and she spoke in some foreign accent, maybe French? She asked to speak with my mother in law. I informed her that this was no longer her number and that I would give her my mother in laws new number, but I needed to know why she was calling and what company she was with. She asked me who I was, and I stated that I was the daughter in law of the person who she was calling for. Then this Miss Meyers says that she's "not authorized to speak to a daughter in law" and I replied "well, then I can't give you her new number then, goodbye" then I hung up. What a scam!

i just got same message, a miss myers, and ghiving me a referance number and to call back.

i didnt call them back but, the name the woman left on mine was Ms.Myers.

I did reach an answering machine, maybe you did't ring long enough?

Received message to call Ms. Myers, also by a specific time. Since the number indicates 602 figuring out the timezone was not a chore unlike noted in some other comment.
Yes the lady was cautious, not secrative- and I really applaud her for that, because I wouldn't want just anybody knowing about my business.
Once her and I both confirmed some information it was very nice talking to this Ms.Myers. And yes, she does have an accent- but nothing fake about it, I thew out some German and Italian- to which she had no problem responding correctly.
So for all you busy bodies out there- consider that identy theft is big these days, and for somebody trying to protect your information for you- cut 'em some slack. Instead of yelling and screaming when not getting all sorts of information- entitled or not, be flexable.

I called the number back and Ms. Myers was EXTREMELY rude and mad that I would not give her my phone number. She asked me for a 'reference number'. She was trying to hide something when I tried to ask her what type of business she was from. She made totally inappropriate remarks to me not knowing my own phone number because I refused to give it to her. She was trying to be professional but her education showed through when she started fighting with me when I told her that I was going to investigate her. She made a comment about "having been in business for 60 years'. This is a very concerning phone call and I would caution anyone to further investigate this person before giving out any information.

A Ms. Myers called and asked to speak to my son. She said that the call was related to a "medical matter". When I asked what the call was about the lady said it was private. She would not give any further information. When I called the number back there was no answer. Usually a reputable place will have an answering machine.

yep, they had my name and asked I called back before 5pm - they didnt say east or west coast time but either way I am not calling back - if you want me to call leave me more info like who the heck you are otherwise I can't be bothered.  By the way, the woman was trying to pull off a horrible fake accent.

I got the same call from Ms. Meyers.
Tried calling the number, busy signal.Then thought to use Reverse Number Lookup.
Not calling again!

They left voicemail with no information about the call, said to reference a number.  When I retuned the call, they were very secrative and wouldn't tell me who they were unless I provided the refernce number.  Once I did, they mentioned a name that wasn't mine.  I again asked who they were, then they mentioned my name (which scared me, why the bait/switch name thing).  I again said I wasn't the other person, and they promised to remove my number.  Also, the person who left the voicemail was the same one who answered when I called back.  She went by the name "Amber Hall".
