It appears this indeed is Gannett. My call is from Clifford Gries. An Internet search quickly finds his affiliation. He has left me something like 6 messages (which he pointed out rudely in his last voicemail, which, incidentally, could barely be heard). It amazes me that he keeps calling and hasn't figured out that I am not calling him back. A "real person" would leave me a message telling me for what reason he wanted me to return his call. He's never done this.

I've just registered my number(s) with the Do Not Call registry. If I get another call from him or anyone else at Gannett more than 31 days from now, they're immediately getting reported.

Thanks for the help.  That is exactly who Mark said he represented GannetLocal.  He said he could get me on the first page.  I said - We already are.  He said I searched and did not find you.  I asked what keywords and he used a really stupid search unliek anyone who needed our services.  So I gave him about 10 examples of keywords.  He ran one and said "Nope you are no where". I said "What is the 1st url".  He said it.  I said that is ME.  He said that is not your company name - the url.  I said you are right.  (Thinking if he does not know it is better to have content in the url than our name then why is he calling).  I siad but wait there is more.  I asked who the second listing was... what url.  He sighed and hung up.  HOW FRECKING RUDE.  IF HE IS GOING TO TAKE MY TIME TO COLD CALL, TAKE THE DAMN TIME TO LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY --- YOU JERK.

Gannett is a company that owns The Arizona Republic.  Telemarketing company that calls businesses to sell advertising.

I missed a call from this number, but they left no message. From the other posts here, it sounds like I don't need to concern myself with it. My number is on the Do Not Call Registry, so if they try again and I answer, I will be sure to report them.

Received a call from 602-444-1700.
Mark with Gannet wanted to speak to the owner about KPI's.
I had to ask what that stood for (Key Performance Indicators).
I asked him to leave a number where the owner could return his call.
The number he left was 602-444-1719.
When I asked him what it was regarding he repeated KPI's.
When asked again....."Yes but what about them?" - He hung up on me.
I called him back and asked why he hung up on me. He proceeded to tell me that I hung up on him because it took him longer then I liked for him to answer. I told him that is not what happened and asked him if he would now like to explain what it is he wants to discuss regarding KPI's and he just laughed, So I hung up on him.
Some people do not realize that this kind of behavior will get them no where.

I too am very grateful for these notes. They shed light on all of the lies and sales tactics.

I just saw this call come in too, and when I see no business name in the display, it's always telemarketers - and I add them to my reject list.  Heres what I found on the web:
