THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, grant paperwork, business plan, loan, scammed-money refund, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. If you give them the WU Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) for the wire, they can pick up the money from anywhere in the world. This number has called a number of times, I answered it tonight and the girl asked me if I had credit card debt, what the interest rate was, and how much debt I had. She offered a Program to lower credit card debt without negatively effecting my credit rating. Then she said to have pen and paper ready when a followup call would come with the details. 25 minutes later a call from the same number came in but my spidey sense told me not to answer it again.

They must have such a scam setup that the cons need call screeners to feel out real targets.

Got 4 calls from this # today.  Hubby answered time before the one just now - nobody there.  I answered just not - nobody there.  So dang annoying.  I did a reverse lookup on white pages for this # and it didn't come up with anything.  However if you search through one of their "sponsors" it will show that it's a land line # but you have to pay for the info.  If it continues I will pay to get the info and take it from there.

They hang up if I answer, won't leave v-mail, but keep calling.

prior to that had 3 calls from 866-986-9873 wonder if they are related?  Anyone else had a toll-free call right before this number popped up.  They have to get our number from somewhere.

won't stop calling...when u redial the number arecorded message tells u, u call cannnnot be completed as dialled...if this was a legit number it would ring thru...it has SCAM !!!!! all over it ...wish I could block them ...driving me nuts !!!!!!

Have been getting calls from this number.  Called the police station to file a report and if it continues, they will trace and handle it from there..

I just saw the call come in and the # flashed on the caller ID.  Glad I typed in the number before picking up!  :)  Glad I didn't answer it.  Thanks, guys!

who are these people?any way to stop the calls?

I am sure whoever is calling from this number is trying to get credit card number information. If you ask them a question, they hang up!!

Continuously calling - Have asked to stop calling and they continuously laugh and hang up.
