Because I was nice. I very politely told this a**hole that I wasn't interested. They have called back twice since. I want them punished.

There's a difference between a telemarketer and a scam artist. These people that call you two or three times a day, then you tell them you aren't interested and they keep calling back anyway are the scammers. Telemarketers have to earn a living but not by harassing their perspective clients. That's how you know the difference. Even complaining to the FCC and the provider Freedom Ring Communications doesn't work. Somehow they've gotten around being caught by changing the last four digits of the number. Either way it's against the law to harass people on the phone. It's now worth the time and effort to try and stop them all. Just say "NO" and hang up.

I receive these calls several times a day. Sometimes it is a hang up.... sometimes a recorded voice

I did the same thing with covista and got the same call from dave at the 503 number a few months back. You might have seen a cessation of spam/telemarketing calls because they might have been responsible for most of them!
They're back now with two new numbers 603.214.3653 and 978.570.2446 with a different phone company (Freedom Ring Communications)

I did some research and found the company that said they can take you off the list.
I called 503-226-4444 and the guy that answered said he can block numbers from that company. I gave him my cell number and he said it would take 24 hours. We'll see what happens.

They keep calling about some government job or some crap like that...I opted out of the calls the last time and now I get them more often...
LEJ 2011-06-06 20:52:10 Unknown
Recorded call about a "job opportunity". Said they were trying to get ahold of me, as if I asked about it. I did not soliciate this type of call. I reported to no call list. Today random person called me asking if they had reached Eco Action! It appears they are spoofing their number back to numbers they have already called.

I have reported many of these callers to the FCC and I get a form letter back every time saying there was no law broken or something to that effect. The FCC simply does not have the resources to follow up on each and every one of these sham business'

How is this for strange?
I received a blizzard of spam and marketing calls from all ove r the country on both my home and cell phone every day for at least a month.
One day I received 12 calls on my cell phone from this TN number- 423-468-5425.
I sent an e-mail to the TN carrier Covista abuse/spam and fraud department telling them that unless the calls ceased immediately I would seek legal action against both the caller AND Covista.
Covista replied two days later that they had spoken to their customer and the calls would cease. However, David supplied his phone number (503) 226-4444 with a request that I call him to discuss my complaint.
I did NOT call him but oddly enough ALL of the spam/marketing,fraud calls I had been getting from around the country suddenly ceased completely.
Anyone have any ideas as to why THAT would happen?

They have a new number, or possibly another one: 603-214-9042. This one is promoting diabetes something. I didn't stay on the call long enough to catch diabetes what.
PeteCress 2011-03-04 00:21:02 Unknown
Maybe it doesn't rock my world... but it most assuredly costs me $.34 every time they call my cell phone.
And, in the case of Freedom Ring Comunications, it's starting to add up... not to mention tick me off.

It's not the FCC. It's the FTC National Do Not Call Registry @ https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.
This is a free government service that is very effective at stopping unwanted telemaketers [depending on which administration is in the White House...didn't work so well during the Bush adminstration]. Charities, surveys, and of political fund raisers are exempt from retrictrions of the Do Not Call Registry. If a telemarketer does call anyway it's very fast and easy to file a complaint. Usually one complaint will stop stop the calls.

if these nutcases slam obama's nasty name in my face again i'm going to scream. i called their phone carrier so hopefully it will stop. not only do i not want phone calls i dont want to hear about that horrible president unless i choose to read an article.
telemarketing isn't like window shopping. these people are invading your privacy. sure, if they stop calling then fine. otherwise they keep calling over and over again. imagine if there were 100 of these people a day calling you. annoying! they keep on calling my business line and i'm losing money. so screw off telemarketers.
Reason 2010-02-02 21:49:09 Unknown
You gotta be joking... what an assinine idea.
you must have no friends at all to want a telemarketing call! This parasitic practice should be stopped at all costs... if I want to buy something i will when I'm ready!
I don't need someone calling me to tell me I need their product or service on my phone (that I pay for) and my time.
If it's a national emergency like Walmart is closing... maybe, otherwise... get off my planet!

Are you people retarded? In this economy many people, including telemarketers, are lucky to have a job in general. Would you rather them collect unemployment from the government? I am a paralegal, but my husband works in sales primarily done through telemarketing and has to put up with rude people like you when he's just trying to do his job. Why don't you just be nice, say you aren't interested and hang up. And just FYI: the national "do not call list" only applies to consumers. It is not illegal for a business to call soliciting business from another business or its representatives. So, why don't you get a life and worry about actual scammers (like phishing sites, spambots & so on) and give the poor telemarketer who calls you just trying to do his or her job a break!
Braulio 2009-09-30 06:48:19 Unknown
Non stop calls day and night. These are a real terrorists of America.
After a trial we shall cut their hands of this b*****ds so they can not dial more numbers.
stop telemarketing NOW 2009-09-30 04:06:10 Unknown
Sounds like you make a "living" in this disgusting "business". Shut down all telemarketing and you eliminate 99 scammers for every semi-"legit" operation -- WELL WORTH IT!
Yeah, I hang up, but only after blowing a loud whistle, hope it's your ear next time.
