the phone number is for windham professionals, not wilmington.
colleges do not send over debts just because they have nothing to do, you went to school, you know you have tuition and loans to pay for, you owe it, simple as that, the college you went to sent you three bills obviously when a person, doesnt open their mail or ignores bills after a while they will be sent to collection.
if you answer you cant pay when they call you, they will call you back again they have the right to call you up to three times a day.please do not quote the fdcpa, as someone who knows the laws please.

so tell me, unless its a phone number that someone used to have, thats fine, but why would a collections agency call someone that they already have that info in front of us?hm?

loans, cannot and will not removed, they cannot be wished away.

arent there any responsible people in this world?

Here is some information you might find helpful-someone who wrote in to whocallsme compiled everything they could find about these debt collectors, as well as how the government handles complaints about them, what your rights are and how to defend yourself, and put it all in one post. It can be found under 8043185476 (?Scam?, 23 Dec 11).
Also, would you like a call-blocker? I can show you how to find one for free or very little money, depending on whether they are calling you on your cellphone or landline. See my post on whocallsme under 3059182338.

Loads of calls going on like that. Collection agencies calling people who are unrelated or don't even own a debt. If you have nothing to do with the loans they could be calling for any of these reasons:
If they are calling for someone else and if you are listed as one of the reference.
Name/identity theft i.e mistaking you for someone else.
If someone else who owed a debt had your number previously.
etc.,
You can directly ask them to remove your number from their lists(that sometimes doesn't work)We are talking about Windham here and they don't let go, very rude and obnoxious. So, get a clearer view of the FDCPA.You (or anybody else) have your rights are are very well protected. http://www.yourcollectionrights.com/  You can keep a list of the calls, record them.Tell them you are recording them and if they consent to it fine, if they don't agree to being recorded, they've got to hang up. There's another way-a cease and desist letter(if the calls never ever stop).Request a return receipt and send it via certified mail.No personal information should be given out. Knowing your rights will help you out better than out think..

I've honestly never had an issue with them. At first, they came off a bit demanding. I received a call from them about a seriously delinquent student loan I took out 7 years ago. They had told me the first time I spoke with them that they would garnish my wages if I didn't get into their rehabilitation program to get myself out of delinquency. I spoke with one of their associates and explained to them that I was 8 months pregnant and could not pay the $200 per month payment because I would be on maternity leave soon. The woman who worked with me was extremely helpful and worked out a $50 per month payment. After 6 consecutive payments, you can receive financial aid and after 9 payments, you're out of delinquency but must continue paying or you won't be eligible for aid until the sum is paid in full. The lady who I worked with even helped me get the letter stating that I was eligible for aid again to my school so that I could get settled into the fall semester of this school year.

I understand why it's annoying that they're calling and not everyone you will talk to is that helpful, but it worked for me and I'm just relieved to get this loan off of my back.

You're a college graduate?
You don't even use "there, their, they're and hear" correctly to name a few. You have the job you deserve...harassing family members of one's who owe.  What a joke!

Wouldn't matter if you answer the call or not, they will still call. I get this number on my caller ID 3 times a day looking for someone I never even heard of and they still call. So don't give the speech they don't want to waste their time.. is money. That is all they have is time to harass, it's the only way for them to get their money.

I just don't like the fact half the time they do not leave a message.  Then they call from numbers I can not trace, telling me to call another number that my caller ID does not display, and then want personal information from me before they will tell me who they are.  They called me a whiel back from a # in Indiana and I spoke with the person, she mailed me some papers, but they did not put my social security number on them.  I am hesitant to give that # out, after having someone close to em already once steal my identity.

I know I am in default of my student loan, and have been for a while.  I also had my check from my last employeer in another state garnished just enough to pay something on that, and wish they would just go ahead and do that again.  That way they would be getting their money and I would not have to deal with it.

Student loans are horrible, and I wlll never put my future children though the heck I have because of mine, and the advice and suggestions from someone I trusted.

And I do agree, why in the world would you loan 5K to someone who at the time made $6.25 an hour, for 25 hours a week?  Idiots!

The following number continues to harass me:  603-890-4034.  I have asked them to quit calling me and they refuse to do so.  They always act as though it is a very important and urgent matter.  It is so ridiculous. I am assuming it is another scam.  As my phone number is on the do not call list, I plan to report them.  Hopefully, if enough people report their harassment they will be shut down.

"Mike", who refused to give his last name, called our main business phone number (at the recetionist's desk).  Said he was processing an "administrative wage garnishment order" against an employee.  I asked for the employee's name and he refused to give it (no problem).  Our HR people were at lunch, so I asked for a phone number where he could be reached so I could give them a message.  He refused to give me a phone number and said he'd call back later.  They must not be to anxious to collect whatever money they think they're owed.

Windham Professionals is a collection agency used by schools for the collection of student loans. If you don't owe any money they shouldn't be calling you and you can verbally order them to stop or write  a letter.  Overall they are good people to work with if you do owe, I've delt with far warse collection companies used by the Department of Education (collecta corp out of arizona -completely rude and talk down to you).  Windham, -polite, helpful and professional.  I believe their call centers are in New Hampshire and the mid-west maybe Ohio or something.

I have been receiving calls from these people for several months. The hitch in my case is that they are trying to reach a person that obviously had my telephone number before me. They ask for this person by name and we tell them they have the wrong number and the number they called does not belong to that person. It appears that they are trying to collect an old debt and they have an old number. Imagine, people that don't pay their debts changing their phone number...go figure. I just happened to get one of those phone numbers and the harassment along with it. They have been told repeatedly to stop calling my number without success. I have now had a courtesy trace put on my phone line by the phone company and I have sent them a cease and desist e-mail. Next step, if they keep calling, is to send a certified cease and desist letter to them and force the issue with legal action through my phone company's call records. It also appears that they have several call centers and the information given to them does not always get disseminated across the organization. In that case, you would have to tell each and every caller that you don't want them to call you anymore. That is essentially impossible if it is a company with many calling reps. The funniest thing about it is that if they were to do a Google reverse lookup on my number, they would quickly find that it does not belong to the person they are trying to reach. Power and intelligence do not necessarily go hand-in-hand.

It is against the Federal Privacy Act to demand private financial records from a debtor to attempt to collect a debt.
DUNNED YA  obviously works for this company.
The public should keep in mind, though someone may owe on a debt, the lender also assumes some responsibility because they were the ones that lended.
If you loan your buddy $20 and he doesn't pay you back, who's at fault? You are - shouldn't have loaned him the $$ in the first place!

A few points:

1. A college education is not necesarily a sign of intelligence.  It may simply mean that your parents
put you on a path to attend college, or had circumstances that made it possible.  There are many
people attending college now who would be better served by attending a good trade school, such
as ITT Tech.  They have neither the intelligence nor the discipline required to attain their degrees.
If they do manage to attain them, they are often unsuccessful at finding employment and keeping
a job. Yes the economy is bad, but the unemployment rate is now under 9.5%.  There are jobs out
there if your skills and abilities meet the requirements.  Do you measure up?

2.  You are in control of your own destiny. Every day you wake up and choose whether to make the
sacrifices and apply the discipline required in order to meet your obligations.  Don't buy the new
42" TV; the XBox; the dinner out; the 6 pack or bottle of wine.  Establish a monthly budget. Get
a restaurant or retail job (or 2) while you are applying for higher level professional positions. There
are always answers if you seek to find them.  If you do you will have greater self respect which
will manifest itself as respect for others who are also doing their best to meet their own obligations
     to themselves and their families.

3.  Don't make the mistake of assuming that people with high school degrees are not intelligent. I have
met many college grads that have no idea how to function in the world.  I have also met many hard
working, very intelligent high school grads that work hard every day to build a good life for
themselves.  Many 20 somethings leave college with inflated egos and an immense sense of
    entitlement.

I got a call from these people because I can't keep up with my payments. No excuse, just cant make enough money to feed myself and pay for rent, and all my loans. I would if I could. They dont seem to be willing to work with me at all. Then I looked up thier website and found this African Quote;

"Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed...every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle...when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

I am going to be Jason Bourne from now on. I will run from them and maybe bring this fight to thier doorstep.

what? I'm confused. the company i legitimately owed a student loan to, my federal student loan, is in good standing, paid to date. what loan are you talking about? because I only had one student loan. so... stop calling me?

Oh and, what about people out of work? This bogus debt claim on our credit reports makes it a bit more difficult to find employment these days..

Lastly, I've paid all my bills.

Same thing happened to me Christina. They called trying to verify my social security and birthdate, and the info they had was wrong, except for my name. They couldn't answer me as to why they were calling or what they wanted. I see that they are a debt collector of student loans but I do not have any outstanding student loans, so I do not know what they are doing calling my work place and trying to extract information from payroll. These people are cheats, liars and frauds. They should not be interrupting me at my work if it's not work related, especially if they're going to try and guess my personal information and use it for unknown purposes. These people need to get a real life and quit trying to cheat people. Then when I refused to give any information the man said he was just gonna go through payroll to try and get my information, ha yeah right like that's gonna happen. MORONS!!! I do not have any outstanding debt except my student loans which are in good standing because I still attend university full time and have not even entered my 6 month grace period which I have to begin repaying my loans.
