I just received a call from here. I was informed my alarm contract was up and I could switch companies. (How did he know my contact was up? How was he able to access that information?)

I understand that the Do Not Call list is only enforceable in Canada. Promotion companies located overseas (a popular place for these types of calls is - yes - India) can use these lists as functioning numbers. Why, I don't know, because these are not customers open to a cold call's sales pitch. As for the "604" area code, I suspect that with VOIP and other computer abilities, these calls are not originating in New West. I would feel sorry for these poor guys stuck doing the calling, but this one was pushy and rude. He rattled off my address, mispronouncing even the city (if you were really calling from New West, you would not mispronounce the names of any of the large suburbs in the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley). I told him he was wrong, and that the call had crossed the line into creepy and I was hanging up. Oh, and I asked him who he was representing. It was not ADT anymore. Protectacon, or something like that.

If you have a listed number, there are lot of scams calling your house!

Calls I have received:
1. Microsoft calling, your internet and computer are not running properly ( do not have internet! )
2. Alarm company asking ' do you have an alarm'  ( why do you ask? so you can come to my house?)
3. You have won a trip to ....
4. Westjet saying you have won airmiles - just give us your CREDIT CARD info - yeah, right.

The number - 604-256-1397 has called me on several occasions and when I answer they hang up the phone.  I wish it to discontinue.  It is extremely frustrating.

calls multiple times a day, always dead air

Always calls on the weekends...particularily on Sundays...in the morning or around dinner time. Used to answer after awhile and try to sell and ask questions about alarm systems.....Now they keep calling, but never answer!!! Blocking them ASAP.

do not want any more of these calls I guess the Do not call list does not work

getting calls from 604-256-1397 - doesn't wait to leave a message or to see if picked up after several rings.

Another unsolicited and annoying telemarketing call...

The caller is a telemarketing firm in New Westminster, BC, trying to sell alarm
systems and house insurance. The accent was so thick I could barely understand that was being offered. When I mentioned I was on the no call list, they hung up.. These people are well aware of the no call list but have a provider other than Telus and as such are difficult to trace. Telus was not at all helpful as the number is not one they provide service to. Its time for a change to the CRTC rules that allows Telus to take back control of their equipment.

i am not looking for any alarm systems, i live in a very nice place where we have that installed for us by a well known company....go find another place to do your job at

Why do these 604 256 1397 calls land at my house....No one speaks, and they hang up...or they know which and how many computers I have.....and they are (SURPRISE) selling!!! something that one one wants....

Some guy called about home alarms saying our alarm is 3 years old. Hung up on him.

this is an alarm company located in Canada.  It is possibly ADT from an office in Vancouver.  they also call from 604-210-6300
