I also got a call from Carrie stating that I had a malicious virus on my computer but my husband asked for his ID and why the caller ID didn't identify as Microsft. He gave us this number to call back and I looked it up and found out it is a scam from here.

I have since reported it to the RCMP at www.antifraudcentre.ca and have called a couple of the radio stations to warn people about the phone calls in the area so no one is scammed.

Next time they call they are going to get an earful! These call centre folks should be ashamed for working with such a company trying to defraud people. Not sure how many people have fallen for this. Quite sad if someone actually does.  Microsoft should be cracking down on these guys.

This woman of what appearded to be of Pakistan decent called saying she was from Microsoft Windows and that there were receiving window errors from my computer.  I asked her what kind of computer I had, and she couldn`t tell me. She asked me to turn on my computer, and I asked why..she couldn`t answer me.  I asked again why I needed to turn on my computer for her to tell me about virus`s, trojan ect.  I had just watched on the news about the scamming that is going on from people saying they are from Microsoft, and trying to fix errors that they are receiving from home computers.  I told her that, and she cave me this number...I couldn`t understand what she said her name was...sounded like Raven..and gave me her personal extention (wss 2112).  I stopped her right n the spot. She didn`t get into my computer at all.

I got a 2nd call from them tonight!  My son said to do a google on their phone number which brought me here.  Richard Thompson from windows service center was the person who called me tonight.  I told him I was busy and would call him in about 2 hours..... of course I won't but this is the 2nd time they called me!  I will report them now to the do not call list.

Don't you think that Microsoft would want to know about misrepresentation?  I think I will do that as well.

So sick of hearing about scams and hackers!  They should get what they deserve!

DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE!!  TAKE A STAND AND REPORT THEM!!

f you really are the service centre when i call back the line should not be so staticky that you cannot make out what is being said.  Yet when you called me the line was clear. when you answered the phone you should have identified it as a business instead of saying hello. I have never ever called a service centre and not been put on hold..... that should be a red flag immediately.

Thank you for reading this

Same thing with me, only he convinced me to go so far as to begin a Goto Assist meeting with a "microsoft engineer." The first thing he did was open paypal and tried to get my log in.  I closed everything down imediately and reported it to the police.

That apparently Microsoft guy also called me this afternoon advising me that Microsoft did receive error messages from my computer. I have to admit though ? that guy was quite skilled and made me believe for a few minutes that there is really something fishy with my computer the way he asked me to check my event-viewer where these error messages are listed.
I'm reasonably knowledgeable - but since I?ve never checked that area of my computer ? this was not so obvious for me.

After checking with our IT department it became very clear that the error messages listed in the event-viewer section of the automatic stored internet / IP address access areas are nothing to be concerned off

Since he actually left me a call back number because I was suspicious since I never had such a call before - so I googled that number and found the msg above posted.

This number is used as a call back for Microsoft.  WATCH OUT!  It's a scam.  They are trying to tell you that you have a virus on your windows computer and to follow their instructions to remove it.  They are actually putting on software for identity theft and banking passwords.
