Got a call from this number. They had my name and were asking about our mortgage. Seemed suspicious so I did not tell them anything. I didn't ask who they were and they didn't say. Caller sounded East Indian. Was going to call the number back but checked Google first and found this place. Keep up the good work folks!

I got a call from them about my mortgage (which I don't have) as well - they were asking for all sorts of personal information (some of which they already had somehow), and offering me a deal on a mortgage. Very sketchy!

He just called back - but the call display said "501". But it was the same guy. On me about buying a place in 2-3 months. He said he was a mortgage broker for "Canadian Mortgage Group", which has been operating in this area for 17 years. When I google it though, Canadian Mortgage group seems to be a small Toronto operation that doesn't even have a website. There is also the Pan-Canadian Mortgage Group, which appears to be a valid company in Vancouver, but I don't imagine they're who's calling.

I received a call like this last month. I make a habit of never giving out confidential information via e-mail or phone and requested that all communication be through mail. The man sounded sort of slow much like the woman mentioned earlier. He said thank you and hung up. I didn't think much of it until I was reviewing recent faxes and noticed the same number showing up on my fax machine and decided to google it to see what it was and found this link.

Got a call at 5 pm asking for my father saying it was CIBC. Told them he wasn't home and that there aren't any good times to call. He sounded disgrunteled and I asked for his name and number. Refused to give them to me and said he would contact by mail. Called back and got the same message that everyone else has been getting.

I?ve received a phone call from a lady she sounds like stupid on the phone her voice was shaking when she talks and she is calling from this number 604-638-5789 please don?t have any conversation with this lady or who ever is calling from that number in any regards, such as , jobs, insurance, bank and others?.
If you received any voice messages check the number which you have got the message from then answer the call what ever regards it might be, so be careful your identity is more important than the job which she is offering you , by the way she will give you a different number to call with a fake name when leaves a voice mail

This is without a doubt fraud. I know that because today when I got the call, I asked the man which branch he is from. He told me he was from the national office in Regina Saskatchewan, and gave me a phone number with an extension. However, the phone number he gave me does not have an extension. That and if he is from Regina, why did a *69 give me a BC number?
So every one of us should report this to the RCMP Phone Busters. The more reports they get, the more serious they will take this. To report to them, call 1-888-495-8501.

This person called asking for my husband (we have a joint account). Asking the same things you all mentioned about "customer satisfaction". Luckily my husband said he didn't have time to talk and he would call back later. I also received a call from (604) 630-0300 earlier the same day, they hung up with no voicemail. If you search that number you will also see the same type of complaints.
My advice - If possible, add these numbers to your phone address book under "Scammer". That way you'll know not to answer.

I got this call on a Tuesday night at 7:30 pm... did not answer as I had already had a call from a number I did not know today, when I dialed it back it said the number was disconnected. This is the second phone number I have had today related to a CIBC suspected scam.

I received a call from this number today and same thing - when I tried to call back, the number was disconnected. The time of the call was Saturday night at approx. 8:30pm. The other thing that struck me as odd is that this is my cell number they called and my bank info, etc is registered under my home number.
There is definately something fishy going on.

Hi same happened to me. I said I would give no information but gave a $amount on my last Visa entry. She identified the right location and gave me the right $value. Either they had already have my personal info or they are from CIBC. THey even found correctly my current mortgage interest rate. Called back the number but it said it was disconnected.

Same thing happened to me. Claimed they were from ICBC, wanted my Postal and Birthday. Almost fell for it, but luckily clued in, in time. If you get a call from this number, tell them where they can go for me.
M dot 2007-11-29 02:56:08 Unknown
Pretended to be from CIBC,asking if I'm satistfied and wanting my birthdate and postal. I was suspicious and said Id have to call them back, and they said if I did,CIBC might not have heard of them.Gee, nothing suspect about that!
same deal 2007-10-26 21:53:01 Unknown
the exact same spiel was given. but i stupidly identified my name. however, i told this "girl" that i prefer not to answer any questions on the phone.
Vancouver / Burnaby 2007-09-14 03:13:43 Unknown
Caller had my name, said she was from CIBC. Voice was very "valley girl", really stupid. She asked me for my date of birth and SIN number "to protect my security" she said. I refused and hung up. I did a redial from my call display and a recording came on saying "the number you've called has been disconnected". I called Telus told them about it, they said it may be an "outgoing number only". I asked her why it would say "disconnected". Well Sir, it could say any message. Long story short, Telus is USELESS with this sort of thing. They told me to call CIBC and ask them. Now that's helpful, don't you think.
Anyway the CIBC gal said she just wanted to make sure I was happy with CIBC services. If that was the case and she already had my name, which she could get from canada411.com, then why did she need my date of birth and SIN. hmmmmm. Scam? I think so.
