I actually didn't get a call from this number, but looked it up after seeing it in a Nigerian Prince-style spam email I received. The number is supposedly for a Rev. Mr. Carl Bowser, who can help get you money from Canada! If this is legitimately a number for CitiBank, then it's just being used in spam, but I think it's more likely a number these spammers own and try to run other scams from.

They will continue to call until you talk to someone. Just pick up the call and discuss the matter with them. Be patient because they are jerks. Note, they will call your co-signer if you do not speak with them.

Citibank is a pain in the a**. I have been paying my loans back for over 6 years and the only time I don't get the 4 calls a day is when I pay my loan 3 days in advance. The calls don't stop, even after you pay it, because citibank doesn't process it right away. I once got an angry phone call from my cosigner about his credit rating jumping (he was buying a house at the time) because I didn't pay the loan on time. I went online and yes I did pay it 11 days ago and the payment is still pending.
Many complaints and I avoid anything Citibank.
Oh and note to Citibank, WORK ON YOUR CUSTOMER RELATIONS! I have never missed a payment over the 6 years I have been paying them back and you still feel like u should harass your customers when they are a day late. I have been harassed enough that I don't want any of your services!

They literally just called 10 minutes after the first call! WTF Citi Bank, seriously? At least put a real person on the phone!

So this number calls me at random intervals, sometimes once a day, sometimes never, sometime once every 3 days, or more commonly, like 4 times a day including on Saturdays and Sundays! I've read most other comments regarding this number and people say it's Citi Bank Student loans (which I have), however, I'm paying my bill monthly, and definitely over the amount I should be! When they call and I pick up, it's some automated nonsense, and when they leave a message it's automated at first but then sounds like a more sophisticated robot that says something but it's too broken up to understand. If this is a collection of some sort then they need to just plain stop because I've been paying off my bill and nearly have the whole thing paid off. If they call me when I no longer owe them anything, I will be pissed off!

it's citibank student loans, a real company. so either pay your loans, or tell them they have the wrong number.. or you don't have loans with them.

They call me 5-10 times a day, everyday. About a month ago i called them back and they told me they were trying to reach some lady, I don't remember her name. I told them that I have had that number for about 2 months so they told me they would take the number off. Then the phone calls started again about a week later. A few days ago I called them back again, let's just say I wasn't too happy at the time. I told them that this needs to stop and to never call again. And can you believe they called twice within an hour after? Unbelievable! They have already called 4 times today.

Yeah, it's an automated system, the day after your due-date, if the payment hasn't been posted (this can take up to FIVE DAYS) the automated caller starts in. Some times I have to pay the day of or the day before it's due, and every time they start calling I talk to them, tell them I paid, they apologize profusely, but can't do anything about it. This is the ONLY on-line bill payment that does this, it's ridiculous.
You can alternatively, instead of paying online the day it's due, call them and pay over the phone using your debit card or bank account, and it will post that day. But it's really just a screwy system they have, very 1998. Actually, it probably is from 1998 and hasn't been upgraded to modern standards.
It's very annoying, but, the good news is if you pay online on the due date, even though it posts a few days later, you won't be considered "behind" with credit agencies, and they don't charge a late fee (at least on my loan) until it's 10 or 15 days late. Again, that's the case with my loan, others' might be different.

I keep getting this call day after day multiple times a day but no one leaves a message & if I answer no one is there. Mind you, I do not have any student loans if that is what it is about. I haven't been in school for 25 years!!!
frustrated 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
This was very helpful! I was late a few days on my loan payment, it happens, but why do they need to call me 4 times a day every day? Even when I've paid them?
I answered today just to make sure who it was from and they asked for someone by my dad's name. WTF? The loan's in MY name, not his.
I like the suggestion of answering and then quickly hanging up. I will do that from now on. :D

These idoits keep calling me saying,"please hold for an important message." I hold and hold and hold and no message plus I have never done any business with Citi Bank. Ths is totally BS!!!!!!!

This number kept calling my boyfriend at all hours so I went online and found this site. After reading the above comments this sounds more like a scam to me; some people have loans, others never have and most everyone that answered said they were asked for their social security number. When I looked up this number on WhitePages.com it said it was unpublished. Any legitimate business should have their number published. That is as far as my research went but please DO NOT give out your social security number! If they are calling people with good standing loans and people who don't have loans also then to me this does NOT sound legitimate!
Miles 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
This number keeps calling me! I googled it to see where the 605 area code was and found this site. Any idea who it is???? They aren't leaving a message.
Leo 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
Yep they are the worst! Add me to the list of people who they are annoying now due to their OWN system not updating my online payment I made 2 days prior. Yes two days prior and now on a Saturday they are sending the brainless operators after me as if I committed a crime. This is the second time this year this has happened with them now. I mailed a payment to them a week and a half before it was due. They didn't process it yet and then accused me of missing a payment and even sent a letter to the co signer warning her that I was default and that she could be in trouble too due to this. The payment of course was cleared up once they got around to actually processing it but they are getting out of hand. I thought paying on line instead of mailing it would stop this but its the same exact thing. They can't even process their own payments that are sent via on line payment in a timely mannor. They should fix their own system and stop bothering people who are trying to do the right thing in paying on time. I have been paying on time, they aren't processing it on time. Blame their own people, not the customers for a change. Wow!
And try talking to an intelligent person in that company, it's not possible! Every time I talked to someone they are just stupid and clueless. They aren't to blame though, the company policies are. I will NEVER do business with Citibank again once this loan is done which is soon thank goodness. They are slow to process my mailed payment and they call me, now they are slow to process my on line payment and they call me. Both times payments sent well before date due. I am going to find out how to report them as this is now harassment. I gave my money, I got no more to give you this month. Go away. Wow are they horrible. Horrible company CitiBank more like Bully Bank.

Anytime I answer they just hang up. Kinda annoying.
Dizliz21 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
If you want to make them stop, block their number on your cell phone. If you have verzion (which I do), you can block up to 5 numbers for free. This number is citibank student loans. I called the number back and the guy said "Thank you for calling citibank student loans". I have a student loan with them. I missed the due date day by a day and they started calling me. It is so annoying. So I blocked their nimber and they stopped calling me.

Call and told them my situation two weeks ago. Got ten calls from them today, literally every hour on the quarter hour (1:15, 2:15, etc) tell me- if I mention that I don't have the money this month and I say that at 1:15, what on god's green earth is going to change in sixty minutes? I somehow don't think I'm going to be able to say "oops! I seem to have found the money in the cushions of my couch! Sorry!" Get real, Citibank.
Alejandra LIO 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
I don't know who these people are. They call, my home # and my cell # but they don't leave messages. I just got a call, I answered the phone a recording said "please don't hang up, I have an important message for you, then I heard nothing, and then they hung up. Who is calling me........
Lindsey 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
I don't trust it though. My account isn't due for 2 days and they call me - when I have a payment scheduled for today. Just be careful giving them any information.
JJ 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
They call even when you've made a payment online. I paid my student loan payment online the day it was due. They will still call and try to get you to make another payment.
frannie 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
Totally agree with you!
peter 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
This dam number keeps calling me. She leaves the same voicemessage and it is unclear what she says. It is like a dam replay over and over.
cc 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
SO ANNOYING! Even when you pay your loan they still will call just to make sure you're planning on paying. When I told them I paid online, they said that is a different system and my payment hadn't shown up yet. I told them I made the payment and they stopped calling but continue to call every month a few days before the due date. UGH!
mucky155 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
keep receiving harassing messages on a sunday from this damn agency-- citibank i believe even though bills are paid on time- daughters student loan----
Jodi 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
I've recently received calls form this number as well. I do not have any school loans from Citibank. I called them back and the first thing they asked was for my SS number, which I did not give out. They also said that if I didn't have a student loan then perhaps I co-signed for a student loan. This might spark a fear in people that their personal identity is being used. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR SS NUMBER. Call any citi bank rep from the number listed on your bills and report to them.
Laura 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
this number keeps calling me too. they leave no message. the check is literally in the mail since I wrote it out three days ago. it'll probably be a few days late but damn they waste no time in calling!
Tabitha Oliver 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
Someone from this number continues to call my 83 year old mother up to 12 times per day. This is harrassment and should be stopped.
AAC 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
student loans. i pay either a couple of days before the due date or on the date of, and they still call because their telephone collections system isn't even connected to the payment system. try to pay 3-5 days before your due date.
when you complain, they only recommend to pay way before the due date or change your due date. then they offer to change it for you. (hint: don't let them. i've had friends who did and citibank accidentally lumped several of their loan payments together or set the wrong date or not tell my friend that they still have to pay before the old due date for a month before the changes take effect.)
